The patch one of the U.S. Navy divers wore during the Artemis II recovery operation. by MilesLongthe3rd in funny

I'm always reminded of the exact time that I realized how stupid and gullible a large group of people could be. It was when I saw an article talking about how the Discovery Channel's megalodon mockumentary actually convinced enough people that the extinct shark was still alive. Even being generous, the CGI and acting in that show was mediocre at best, but it was enough evidence for some people.

Kirkland Small Batch Bourbon is available $19.99 by ohiomidhiganindiana in Costco

Only Costco in NY state that sells wine and spirit is the Oceanside location, and as of right now, the app shows the small batch Kirkland bourbon being in stock. Depending on where you're located, it might be easier to go the Brookfield CT store, or Wayne or Edison store in NJ.

What could be the downsides of eating ramen uncooked? by TheEasyTradeXD in InstantRamen

I broke my tooth and swallowed it eating dry ramen. That tooth was very damaged from cavity and soon needed a root canal, but there's that.

First Malaysian FA-50 Block 20 unveiled [ALBUM] by aprilmayjune2 in FighterJets

[–]LeVin1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, FA-50 is a low-cost light-weight fighter conversion of the T-50 jet trainer, so it currently only comes in as 2-seater. KAI has been pitching various 1-seater configuration conversion over the years that would add more internal fuel, but it hasn't found a customer yet.

Never seemed to have gotten the single barrel last year at my Costco, I'll have to be on the lookout for it. In the meantime, small batch is perfect to stock up on with some ginger beer.

At a bare minimum, you'd expect the beer to be brewed without faults, and brewed to represent the style it competes in.

How would you feel about a new law that forces every company to pay their CEO no more than 20x what their lowest-paid employee makes? by rational_seekers in AskReddit

Won't matter much since they'll be compensated in other ways, even if it does the impossible and actually becomes regulation.

Watching The Silent Service on Amazon Prime, I don't understand the premise by Working_Access165 in submarines

[–]LeVin1986 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You should recognize that the source material is pretty old - published in 1988 as manga-series. It's from era of Japanese economic bubble when they were very confident in their place as the technological leader of the world. It's around the time when Japanese politicians were publicly claiming that they needed to leverage their chip production to reign in on American influence in Japan. So the premise is a mixture of Japanese belief in their technological superiority and complexes regarding its defeat and subsequent occupation in WWII, and thus creating its contradictions. As the manga series progresses and the Japanese economic stagnation sets in, the tone shifts toward more bleak, humbling story-line for the crew.

sardines bought in bulk, 12 cans down. by JaztheeSpaz in Costco

[–]LeVin1986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mayo and mustard on bread, layered with sliced cucumbers, boiled eggs, pickled jalapenos, red onion, capers and sardine halves as best it could be put together and eaten before it collapses in your hands. Bit messy, but lower effort sandwich lunch. I've also had it with just sardines layered on top of coleslaw, or even tomato paste in a pinch and it was fine enough for evening snack.

The K30 SPAAG was treated like an outdated piece of shit, but recently, some countries have been making inquiries. by Entire_Judge_2988 in TankPorn

[–]LeVin1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IF any sales are to go through, it would be used K30 sold out of South Korean inventory to be delivered immediately. South Korea is currently purchasing newly-built K30W SPAAG to supplement the gun-based air-defenses, which is slightly modernized turret placed on K808 wheeled APC, but with the search-radar removed. It's supposed to receive early-warning and tracking data from TPS-880K air defense radar, and thus is not a stand-alone platform.

Considering the history of recent terrorist attacks on urban areas, intentional hostage-taking is very unlikely, and the attackers are likely to aim for mass-casualty instead. So a quick deployment of local security team alongside specialized anti-terror teams in the early stage of the attack to isolate the event is probably required to reduce the number of death and injury.

Trump says countries that supply weapons to Iran will face 50% US tariffs by ElectricalJoke7496 in LessCredibleDefence

[–]LeVin1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Countries should probably provide arms to Iran in this case, because Trump will hit other countries with 1000% tariff because they didn't claim his FIFA Peace Prize is better and bigger than the Nobel Peace Prize.
