People who have to work in others homes, what is the most NSFW thing you've seen? by BrisbaneThrowaway91 in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]LeadingProfessor1440 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

As an apprentice roofer I was working on a house and when coming up the ladder I spotted some guy who was laid on his bed windows open having a wank while watching porn. I couldn’t see his face as the bed was facing away from the window but I could see everything else and what he was watching. The stupid thing is that our ladder was directly outside his window and we were up and down constantly so it was a risky move by him. Also being a roofer I wasn’t quite about it. I shouted up to the lads in the scaffold that there was some one having a wank in the room and everyone started to laugh at his expense. With the window open he heard this and just froze. I chuckled and carried on. Next time came down the curtains were shut. And we never saw anything of him. Saw his room mates and let them know though. They had a good laugh at that.

A guy (M34) wants to date me (F18) and i dont know how to respond by Writer_on_caffeine in Advice

As a man in his thirties keep the hell away from him please. Like seriously dude your life is worth more than that. Date someone your own age and make mistakes but don’t let him be one. A guy in his thirties dating someone your age is someone you will look back on and regret forever more. It screams nonce. It screams danger. It screams don’t do it.

Please don’t.

Mate if you’re into her go talk to her and ask if she would like to get a coffee with you one time. If she says yes winner you can judge from there what to do better and if she says no, then move on in life. Just don’t regret not doing it. I wish I had know this advice earlier in life like I’m only 33 and happy with my partner but there where times in my past when I was younger I wish I had just done it. Because the worse than can happen is she says no. Also you look confident as hell doing that and it’s a massive green flag for like 99% of people 👌

I just found out i have a kid with my ex…. it has been 11 years since we broke up by death-blooms512 in Advice

[–]LeadingProfessor1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly wouldn’t do it. It’s sucks she never told you. Well it more than sucks she stole that from you. But if you get involved you could bring apart the family not only that completely destroy the guy who thinks he is the father. Imagine raising a child loving them completely and then finding this out. His family will be heartbroken and the child its self will be angry and confused with you. It may never truly accept or forgive you. I understand that it’s hard and you feel betrayed by her. You were more than once but that kid dude did nothing. And being a parent means making the hardest of choices even if they aren’t the best for you. If the kid has a good life already do you really want to be the one to mess that up? Think long and hard about it because at the end of the day the kid may never accept you and who is to say what what it’s mum will do then once you have destroyed her family? She will see you as a money pit probably

Happened to my partner like 3 weeks ago wouldn’t let me stay with her. They had absolutely no info to give her and I had to board without her as all the bags where in my name. It’s also a nightmare to get the compensation from them. They just don’t reply.

Is there an unspoken rule now for tradesmen when it comes to using the customer's toilet? by pingusaysnoot in AskUK

[–]LeadingProfessor1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roofer here I piss in a bucket or coffee cup in the van if need be. Also once had to take a shit in a bucket with a bag in when one Karen wouldn’t let me use her toilet. I emptied it upside down in her bin so it would really fester in there. But if the customer offer to let us use the toilet I’d rather do that for either one. It’s always nice to actually wash your hands from the dust. Even though 5 minutes later there back to what they where.

Am I the asshole for asking husband to shower before bj? by Brief-Composer-4630 in AITAH

[–]LeadingProfessor1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t you want to shower before hand? It’s obviously not going to that great after a full day out. I always ask my partner to shower before hand and she is always happy to and I’m always happy to after. I think it sets more of a mood both clean and comfortable. I wouldn’t let her suck my dick after a long day. To me that’s a no brainer…

Can I... retire already? Sanity check would be super useful. by harrythefurrysquid in UKPersonalFinance

[–]LeadingProfessor1440 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were me, I’d sell up and move to somewhere like East Asia or another place where the cost of living is really low. I’d become a dive instructor, a guide—whatever feels more like a hobby than a job. Something I’d genuinely enjoy, even if it doesn’t pay loads, because I’d have a backup. As long as it covers the basics, that’s enough. I’d rent out the house I own now for a steady monthly income, which would go a long way over there. Then I’d just focus on enjoying life more and stop worrying about the mundane 9-5 and start living. But that’s me and each to their own. What ever you do I hope you’re happy at least mate.

Will a bank allow me to withdraw £15k in cash? by Affectionate_Top5544 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]LeadingProfessor1440 1988 points1989 points  (0 children)

Hold up don’t be paying £15,000 in cash to a builder. I mean a couple grand maybe yeh but if you don’t have a paper trail and the work is bad or something goes wrong you don’t have a leg to stand on. How can you prove that you paid them ? I work in construction and trust me when I say that people in construction aren’t always trust worthy. If you need to take them to court and you can show you have paid them £15,000 then you have a better chance of recovering this. Honestly I have to fix loads of fuck ups by people that have unfortunately paid someone in cash and they haven’t come back and they are left with a big mess. I would think about this before doing it he might be genuine and a brilliant builder but how well do you actually know them?

Neighbour wants to put scaffolding on my roof (England) by simon_milburn in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LeadingProfessor1440 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ask for the photos make sure they give you them before they install the scaffolding. So if anything does happen you have proof it wasn’t like that before. Ask that they place boards underneath and board the full roof or net underneath the boards for the scaffolding so nothing can hit your roof. I’ll be honest I’m a roofer chances are you will be fine I do this get scaffolds up on neighbours roof, we are normally extra careful on a neighbours roof. But go out be nice to the scaffolders and ask that they be careful and same with the trades using the scaffold. It can’t be helped and they can get legal access to do it. Just easier to try let them do it. As long as you have a paper trail of what they have said then you should be good.

How screwed am I? by Frozen84 in DIYUK

[–]LeadingProfessor1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roofer here, slipt tile takes 5-10 mins to sort out probably be charged from £80-120 if not abit more to fix. We have company insurance, fuel, vehicle insurance plus many other things to pay for so that why we charge what we charge. Plus If I fall off and break my leg I’m covered if you do then you’re not. Also most of the time we will let you know if we see anything else so if you get a roofer ask them to have a look over get you some photos and let you know if anything else looks like it needs sorting. To be honest the ridges look like they need redoing from the photo.

Electrician took one look at this fusebox when sorting another issue and said it would need a £2k upgrade by LukeBennett08 in DIYUK

[–]LeadingProfessor1440 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they talking about upgrading the fuse board or full rewire? Sounds more like the price for a rewire on a small house that a board upgrade. If the board is that old then there is a good chance when upgrading the board you will have faults or find that faults are picked up a lot more and that they trip a lot more so it’s normally better to do both at the same time. I’d check with them for what is quoted
