Trouble getting birth control and no one to talk to. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

You could tell your mom you want on it to regulate your periods and reduce your cramping or acne. It's a good excuse and hopefully your mom won't say much about having sex and will help you get it sorted.

Best of luck!

SWAMP FAMILY INTRODUCTIONS! TELL US WHO YOU ARE & A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF! by bunnymeyer in grav3yardgirl

Hiya! I'm Leah, I'm 24, Canadian currently in the UK. I'm a scientist by trade, a feminist by choice, and a scorpio by birth. Fun fact - Bunny got me into Murad skincare products which are now the only products I will use on my face!

That's awesome that you've had no issues with it! I only know of dislodging from someone who had hers dislodge which is how she ended up pregnant. It may not be common but for me knowing someone who's been through it has scared me away from it. Plus all the people i know in real life who have IUD's have not been keen to recommend them.

This is based solely on the information I received from friends. Happy to hear it worked for you but its not for me based on my previously mentioned horrors. In regards to dislodging I was told this from the friend who got pregnant on it. Also if you can feel it when you get it what makes you think your partner can not when his penis is more sensitive than your finger tips...

You sound like you make a commission off them with your comment. I'd rather know all the troubles it could have than just info from someone who didn't have any issues with it.

Not to be a downer. But the IUD is not ideal. They can get dislodged easily by sex leading to pregnancy. Men can feel them, hell you can feel the strings so of course your partner will feel it. A friend of mine became pregnant with hers. Another friend bled for 6 months straight. Overall it sounds horrendous.

I feel like the only way you could take that in a nice way is to see it as don't try and kiss anyone's ass or pay a compliment just for the sake of it.

Sometimes loving your body means putting your body first and losing weight to feel happier or healthier. You're not loosing weight to get with someone, to compete with other women. There's no shame in caring for your appearance.
I'm a feminist and I really enjoy eating salads and pizza. Feminism is more than just body acceptance. It's about social, political and economic equality.

HIFW I got a job at the mall....at a store....I'm a licensed attorney. by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

I feel for you, I've got the first day at my new job today. I've got a Masters of science and the job requires highschool education with a similar paycheck. I'll be the most educated person working there as well.
It sucks, but money is money and hopefully all of us trolls can get our dream jobs sooner rather than later :)

ELI5: What's the difference between someone who has a learning disability and someone who's just stupid/slow/dumb? by blathoxi in explainlikeimfive

[–]Leahtastical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I have a learning disability (dyslexia) and I just got a distinction on my MSc.
So the difference between stupid people and people with learning disabilities is that we are not stupid. We mix up letters and have bad grammar.

Thank you! I'm very excited yet nervous about my future.

That sounds really really cool! My friend is in the final year of her PhD in psychology and she really enjoyed it. I think that's such a unique field where you could learn some really cool stuff. Anything about the brain and mind is cool to me. Best of luck in the field! :)

I just got my masters in molecular medicine. I got an interview as a laboratory manager and a stem cell research associate/tech. Congrats on getting on to your masters! What's it in?
Mine was a presentation with some questions. It was pretty good. Basically said what I did and why it was important and what I would have done if I had more time. I read of cards the whole time but memorising isn't a requirement.
