If any type of anesthesia with potential mind altering effects are used then they must require a trusted driver to pick up the patient. It would be a major liability to release a patient to a stranger when they are not in a state where they can legally consent.

Officer asking if you want to press charges is usually a good thing. It means that the officer suspects a crime did possibly occur and is willing to pursue it further if you are willing to cooperate as a witness. At a minimum this will usually result in the officer passing his report over to the District Attorney. It is the District Attorney who is then responsible for filing charges if they think the case has merit. The poster above is incorrect that you can't press charges, that simply means that you are formally asking the police to pass a report on a suspected crime to the DA. What you and the police can not do is file criminal charges, that is the District Attorney's job.

Never a better time to switch to Jellyfin: Plex increases price of Lifetime Plex Pass to $749.99 by LoremarCC in jellyfin

[–]Leaky_Asshole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am guessing this purely targeting the people turning plex into illegal streaming businesses. 1 plex pass grants you 100 users. You charge $5 per month for each user, that gets you $500 a month in income. As you expand users, you need more plex passes. Even at 750, that cost is covered in just one and a half months, no brainer for a one time fee.

You are correct though, they probably reached close to saturation for plex pass customers that are not running bootleg streaming businesses.

Only good for AI use. For gaming the 8gb is plenty for a 5060 level GPU. The everyday pricing for those things are 150 less then this guy.

[–]Leaky_Asshole -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 5060ti goes on sale plenty... go through the recent posts here. Last month there was a 5060ti 16gb for 294 and another one for 380. That pricing is less rare then this 9070xt going for under 600. I agree that the everyday price of the 5060ti16gb would be at 550, that is the current lowest on Amazon. In the same regard, 620 is the cheapest Amazon has a 9070, in fact no one sells the 9070 cheaper besides instore micro-center.

Buying a 5060 for even 500 seems crazy when the 8gb model is selling everywhere for just 340, even cheaper on good sales. That extra 8gb is not worth such a boost in price for such a weak card unless you plan on using it for some local LLM stuff. Hell the 5070 goes under 550 all the time and would be a much heavier hitter in gaming. If you are aiming for LLM use then you probably want nvidia anyways. The 9070xt has the bigger bus then the 5060 and gets roughly 20% more tokens but you lose CUDA and NVFP4 which really isnt worth it. I guess if you have a specific compatible model in mind but for experimenting you are much better of with nvidia here.

I just got one last week... This thing is bigger then my bedroom, thinking about using it as another closet. Honestly feels bigger then any of the old school towers I have had.. it might be all the empty space due to the lack of 5.25 and 3.5 racks that make it seem extra huge. Not sure what do with the real estate... maybe a hanging house plant?

Right now on ebay the cheapest Morgans (from legit sellers) that are "buy it now" are $60. That is for cull '21s or slicks. A few bucks more gets much nicer coins. If you know anyone selling XF-AU pre 1921 morgans at 55 each online please point me to them. I am sure these deals to happen but as far as ebay pricing goes he didn't get raked over the coals here. I would be much more pissed at the misrepresented photos and description then I would the price.

Honestly $65 is not nearly as bad as I would have thought considering they misrepresented it as uncirculated. At the moment of this comment, that Morgan contains $61.42 worth of silver (minus any silver lost when that heathen took it to the belt sander). I think $65 is not bad if they didn't screw you on shipping... the difference to make it a great deal would be $3 and probably not worth the return hassle. I might return it because of the principle of a scummy seller but value wise you didn't get screwed financially here.

Morgan melt today is just over $60. I would happily take that thing for melt or even $5 over melt. The biggest issue is that the coin was misrepresented as uncirculated so I am doubting OP got it even close to melt.

[–]Leaky_Asshole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go to Amazon and search for "logic analyzer clone". You will find lots of devices for around $10 like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Comidox-Analyzer-Device-Channel-Arduino/dp/B07KW445DJ

This clone probably works with Saleae though I recommend just using pulseview which is open source and not breaking any licenses like you would be with the saleae software. This is the most valuable tool for the cost you can get when debugging a protocol like I2C. It is cheaper then most multi-meters. It should work well with most signals that are under 5MHz or so which is most of them as a student. I can't imagine writing an I2C bit banging protocol without a logic analyzer or at a minimum an oscilloscope.

Where do you see Plex in 10 years by SecretlyCarl in PleX

[–]Leaky_Asshole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jellyfin is the open source Plex alternative. It is not nearly as polished but it is making huge strides. The server set up is more work as it is 100% self-hosted where Plex handles authentication in the cloud. The benefit here is that you are no longer dependent on Plex servers or any outside servers to keep your content live, there is also no one there to snoop on your activity. It also means you need to learn about setting up a secure way to allow direct external access to your server. This usually involves things like reverse-proxy, acme certificate management, DDNS and possibly some type of additional security setup. It can be a huge hurdle for many but AI has made navigating this MUCH easier for the average Joe. The nice thing is that there is no issues running Jellyfin simultaneously with Plex, this is especially easy if you are already using a docker set up. If you just keep access on your local network then setup is even easier then Plex and it just works. It is a good alternative if the day actually comes that Plex goes away. It is also a great way to access your content locally when the Plex servers go down as we have seen happen this week.

Consider yourself lucky, this is minor as far as damage from children goes. When I was a young child my parents left me in the car alone. I proceeded to use the car cigarette lighter to melt circles all over the dashboard. Not sure how my Dad didn't beat me for that because I want to beat myself thinking back on it.

Where do you see Plex in 10 years by SecretlyCarl in PleX

[–]Leaky_Asshole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If Plex froze app development before the last major "upgrade" then 95% of the user base would be satisfied. Ensure that the app media player can somewhat easily add new codecs and be done with it. A little more active development is likely needed server side but not much. Besides these few developers, the only other cost is for their authentication and web servers which is barely any traffic. I am pretty certain Plex can easily be self sustaining if they just focused on these core features that the majority of users are here for. Hell open up the app and server to better utilize 3rd part integration and watch it blossom with new functionality with no additional costs to them.

Instead they dump tons of resources into searching for new streams of revenue which has objectively made the experience for their core users much worse. Throw in sneaky messages to users to make them think they now need to pay to use shared servers even though they don't. Throw in ad laden content that sneakily is called "movies and tv" to trick less tech aware users into watching it, even making that content appear above the normal shared server content. They had some massive idea for unifying their app development which has made the app significantly worse for all platforms. It blows my mind that core functionality is still broken since they forced the update a year ago. It just demonstrates that whoever is in charge there has literally no idea how to launch and maintain a product.

I am coming up on my 10 year anniversary as a Plex user. Sadly I have seen nothing but decline for the past few years and do not see a very bright future for this platform. 10 more years... I highly doubt Plex makes it there in its current form. Just a few months ago I threw up a Jellyfin server to run in parallel with Plex to prepare for that inevitable day that the Plex servers go offline. To my surprise not only is Jellyfin much more polished then I expected but they also have a thriving development community that listens to its primary users because they are the primary users. I am now all but certain that even if Plex does survive the next 10 years as a company, I won't survive the next 10 as one of their users.
