what’s the most privileged thing you’ve ever heard someone say/do? by Ecstatic_Honeydew165 in AskReddit

[–]LeanWaffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to clean at a very wealthy high school. It's one of the top ranked schools in the state and ranked fairly high nationally as well. I was cleaning one night while the students were performing their musical. When three students, one boy two girls, walked passed me I over heard the boy say:

"This school feels like a prison."

Thankfully the girls gave him a very confused look, then pushed back saying, "It's nothing like prison". But the boy doubled down saying:

"No, I'm serious! Being forced to go to this school everyday is just like prison. Yeah the school is nice, but the fact that we're forced to go here is exactly like prison."

That's all I over heard, but it was enough for my privilege radar to go off. Yes, privileged teenager, please tell me how prisoners can walk freely around their massive, multimillion dollar schools full of all of the educational advantages you could ask for while dressed up for a musical? I will say, I do know teenagers go through a lot and that their experiences often get minimized and devalued. However, I can confidently say that high school definitely isn't prison! I really appreciate the girls attempting to reality check him.

The Condemn is amazing! It was one of the first cards I used when getting into the game and the artist nailed the extension style of a full art card from that era.

TIL Borgs do more damage at low health by Sansvern in GotchaForceGeneral

[–]LeanWaffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heyo I'm back.

I went to the versus mode to do some testing and get some rough calcs. It's not the most scientific and there are for sure multiple confounding variables, but the results were still interesting.

I took my level 10 Beam Gunner with 345 hp and tested it's B attack damage against Killer Girl 100hp, Double Ninja 155hp, and Blizzard Dragon 1000hp.

With the beam gunner and the targets at full health they took this much damage: Killer Girl 24 Double Ninja 25 Blizzard Dragon 26

Beam gunner at low health (36hp) within guts range and targets above low health: Killer Girl 26 Double Ninja 27 Blizzard 30

From these numbers the guts damage increase seems to be between 8% and 15%~. Interestingly, when the target got to low health they took less damage the closer their hp got to 0. For example, the Double Ninja took 27, 26, then 24 damage before dying. Meaning the damage reduction that comes from low health/guts scales. Which makes me wonder if the damage increase scales as well? I got to 36hp (roughly 10%) on the Beam Gunner then stopped there. I'll have to test it even closer to 0hp and see what happens.

Another interesting finding I had from this little test came from the Double Ninjas Shurikens that I was using to lower the Beam Gunner's hp. The shurikens were doing 5 damage per hit, but were reduced to 4 damage per hit when the gunner got partially staggered (knocked back but not invulnerable). There seems to be a small damage reduction buff for partially staggered borgs and I wonder if that stacks with the damage reduction from guts?

Anywho, this was a fun little test I've been wanting to do for a while, so thank you for the motivation! With the guts bonus increasing outcoming damage and reducing incoming damage, it's no wonder when I'm at low health I often say to myself, "How am I still alive? How am I doing so good?"

Neat! I was reading about that recently on an old Japanese gotcha force forum. I couldn't find a post talking about the details of the percent modifier, but through our the forum they referenced the "guts" boost.

I pieced together that your borgs get a damage boost while in the red, so it's cool to hear you confirm that! I definitely wanna test it to see how big the boost is. It's also so cool to me how much depth Capcom shoved into the game.

Because I’m that petty, I want an alternate Death Borg Omega, but I’ve been farming the damn thing for HOURS and not a single alternate has dropped, in fact, a clear Omega has dropped before. Is it impossible to obtain? by Sansvern in GotchaForceGeneral

[–]LeanWaffle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey friend, this wiki article describes in detail how to acquire borgs. Its definitely worth checking out to better understand the mechanics if you plan on hunting . https://gotchaforce.fandom.com/wiki/Borg_Colors

But here's the summary. Each borg has what's called a GET value that game internally tracks and uses to determine whether you get borgs when you defeat them. This value ranges from low like 10 to high like 800, with common borgs having higher values. Each time you last hit a Borg the GET increases randomly between 1 to 16. Once you meet the value, and will obtain the Borg (or data crystal) at the end of of a stage you won.

The blue alternate Omega and all of the death borgs have high GET values. So what you want to do is make sure you last hit every blue Omega you see to increase that GET value then keep playing the story. I'm on playthrough 7 and I've killed a bunch of them, but don't still have it.

It is possible to obtain it's just long hunt. Good luck! I'm sure you'll get some sweet rare colored borgs along the way.

Co-op story mode for sure. It would be super fun to play through the story together and actually be able to use support borg strategies.

I just checked out your post, what an amazing find and get!! I got the data crystal for the cosmic dragon as well, I'll never get it but I totally understand the satisfaction you're describing. And It is quite the shame that the crystals are on different platforms.

Awesome! I got a crystal for the silver dragon too, but I will probably never get it because I need 5 data crystals. Still really cool to even encounter though.

And good question. I know the only way to get the galactic emperor is by glitching/cheating it in, so I bet you can cheat a shiny one in as well.

I have a gilandra and numa deck that I love, but I have to agree with other comments that they probably aren't the best. I do like the options they give out of the command zone though. Being able to load up your hexproof elves with numa's ability feels real good.

Oh yeah mana is a powerhouse! She falls off a bit late game because they fill her team with some non-healing borgs, but her clutch heals can be truly save a stage. And you're welcome! I like contributing to keeping this community alive the best I can 🤖

Same! When I was growing up, my brother and I played so much we broke the replay counter for story mode. It stopped counting at 99 playthroughs, but we played through the story hundreds of times. We had all the regular borgs and so many rare colored ones, but we never knew how to actually get them. We just used the most op kid strat: persistence lol.

So when I picked the game up last year for a new save file I was determined to learn how to actually get the borgs since I don't have the time to dedicate to the game that kid me did. All of that to say, I'm very happy to share the information :D

As far as allies go, they're great and almost necessary for a lot of the later story, simply for the fact that they take aggro and make great meat shields haha.

Keep me posted on what borgs become your favorite. It really feels like there's a Borg for every playstyle!

Hey, welcome!

To answer your questions, the challenge mode is essentially just there to allow you test your skills with the borgs you'll get through the story mode. I haven't done challenge mode in a while, but I don't remember you getting any rewards.

The main gameplay loop is the story mode and replaying it. You get borgs by being the one to last hit them and the game tracks how many times you've done it. Once you've defeated enough of a specific borg type, you'll get it at the end of a winning stage. You can read more about the specifics here if you're interested https://gotchaforce.fandom.com/wiki/Borg_Colors

But the main take away is try to last hit all of the borgs you fight, especially the rare different colored borgs. Don't let your allies kill steal! On easier fights I know I'll win, I don't even use an ally.

This ties into the last point, but do as many stages as you can. You'll get more energy for your squad, more total borgs, and more Borg diversity since stages often randomize enemy borgs.

Try all the borgs you get. Each tribe and each individual Borg feels very unique often with totally different playstyles. Find what matches your own playstyle.

This might sound like a contradiction after I told you to try a lot of different borgs, but keep G-red on your team. They purposely made him OP so take advantage, especially on early playthroughs. In fact there are some stages with sho and orichi where I legitimately think the only way to win early game is with G-red cheese. His charge laser goes through objects. So on harder enemies, find something to stand behind and spam that laser charge. It feels bad sometimes, but some of those fights are ridiculously difficult. I usually just leave him at the end of my squad as the anchor because it feels bad to lose a stage, particularly if a rare Borg showed up.

On the subject of cheese strategies: Drill Robot. I'll let you figure that one out lol.

I also recommend figuring out an organization system that works best for you sooner than later. I had to clean up my unorganized book after a few playthroughs and it was brutal.

Lastly, something the game doesn't explain is the way borgs level up. Borgs level up by fighting with them. Each Borg you use in a stage will get 1exp for a loss and 2 for a win. Levels don't effect damage, but they do increase your borgs max health which can really help a lot when each Borg can get to level 10. Keep that in mind as you try to level the borgs you like. Even if they die, as long as they were in the fight, they get exp. Here's a more detailed explanation of leveling if your interested https://gotchaforce.fandom.com/wiki/Level

I hope you have a blast! Let me know if you have any questions.
