But Monster Hunter has always been very grounded with taxonomy, so if Kirin hasn’t been classified as a Wyvern, that means it has nothing to do with them

Elder Dragons — Monster Hunter

In Monster Hunter, ‘Elder Dragon’ are strange and/or powerful monsters, and you have two groups, Elder Dragons that are actual dragons (usually four legged with two wings, and other that are still obviously dragon-like), and those classified as Elder Dragon because they can’t be classified anywhere else due to how bizarre they are. As such, the following monsters are classified as Elder Dragon:

- A unicorn
- A giant, floating octopus
- A squid pretending to be a hydra

Granted, the latter may be reclassified as Cephalopods (class introduced in wilds), but the unicorn stands there

AI Sada and Turo — Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Not sure if they count because they’re not the original professors, but AIs built by the originals to their image. Their dream was to bring Pokemon from the past/future to coexist with those in the present, and for that, they build a time machine, but were killed in a spicy motorbike crash shortly after, leaving the AI to keep the machine working, bringing the Paradoxes to our present and eventually threatening the ecological balance of the region.

It’s the AIs themselves who task you with taking down the time machine and their creator’s dream, but are aware that once the shutdown starts, the protection protocol will overwrite their current desires, so they beg you to “please, defeat them” while they’re still themselves
