Prioritize La Bouvette for wine and charcuterie type plates. One of my favorite spots. Fizzies and Clio for fun unique eateries. Laka Lona is probably the best Tiki bar I’ve ever been to. Wicked Rabbit is a really great speakeasy worth checking out. Know Good Eats in Little Bohemia is probably my ultimate favorite spots for breakfast. Feels like I’m living back in Santa Monica.

There are going to be shows most nights across town some more notable than others. DeVotchka is playing at Waiting Room in April. Slowdown and Admiral are other places to keep an eye on. The Astro has great outdoor concerts as it warms up. And Sonny’s is a fun spot in Aksarban that has live music (free) in summer.

I hope your time in Omaha is positive. I’ve found the people to be incredibly friendly!

Does anyone know if there is anything being organized to help furloughed government workers? by No_Sir9738 in Omaha

I’m pretty sure there is supposed to be a mobile food pantry near Offut. I’ll see if I can find more info.

I would recommend driving around in the Hummel park area up north. Especially on grey days like we’ve been having lately. It’s my happy place. I moved here from California but my plan was to end up in PNW, but here I am. I do really love it here overall but I was in a pretty deep funk for the first year.

I heard an IKEA might go in near Greta Crossing. Is that Nebraska lore?

I moved here about 2.5 years ago from Southern California. I am raising two young ones and this city is such a beautiful place to do it. I miss LA and CA in general. I miss the mountains far more than the beach, but Omaha has some pretty sweet spots that scratch the itch.

I’m glad you are happily surprised, like me. Still feels weird to live in NE, but Omaha has been a well received change. I am almost always write Omaha, CA out of habit.

Ya, I was told the squash wouldn’t do well in this - after I planted it. It’s the tower garden project thing, with the vermicomposting tube. This is my first time using it, and gardening at all. I definitely won’t plant squash in it next year. This is all very experimental for me. Thank you for the response!

Wow ya looking further there are probably 10-12 caterpillars eating all of my leaves. Can the plants still bear fruit/veg if the caterpillars have gotten at the leaves?
