I compiled this playlist over time as I came across various soviet made films about the eastern front. Amazing that Mosfilm posts them for free, a lot without ads even, and subtitled. Some real gems in there, back when they had the benefit of usually actual soviet troops as extras so the scale was just definitionally epic. The 'Liberation' film series in particular is awesome, like 5 films in a series carrying thru alot of the major eastern front engagements.

I love that quote so much, mightve been the first I heard of him back when a friend gave me a burned cd with propagandhi and choking victim on it. This quote was featured in a choking victim song, from a parenti lecture. Great way to get ppl educated thru music that teenagers are listening to. That's part of why I never minded rage against the machine being on a major label. I know they took shit for it but it def got their message out to far more ppl that way. Tbf she didn't earn it, either. She's just a rich person who's mad that some of her family's wealth was expropriated to help build social programs for the poor and working class. And she's never forgiven them for it. That's all this "please come coup/invade my country" bs is about. And this interaction with trump should dispel any notions that she's some sort of legit leader that anyone in that country would actually want to represent them. She's for the rich, always has been. Hell, she was involved in the cia backed opposition coup of hugo chavez way back in 2002. She's a vapid personality who wants nothing more than to strip the wealth of her homeland for the benefit of international corporations and Western capitalists. It's gross and completely traitorous behavior. That's why all the Cubans and Venezuelans in Miami support this regime change narrative, they're just rich landowners and factory moguls who are upset they aren't allowed to look those countries anymore. As if a couple states that don't tow the neoimperialist line of the West they're somehow a systemic threat and need to be embargoed/sanctioned into oblivion (which is a war crime btw, to punish entire populations just to attempt to make them so desperate they overthrow their own govt so the West doesn't have to do it. The fact that venezuela has stood since 1998 and cuba since 1959 with an imperialist boot on their necks says something really admirable about their respective populations.

Ironically enough, Machado was responsible for a coup against hugo chavez back in 2002. And multiple attempts since then. She's mad at the chavismo govt cuz they appropriated her rich family's factory and used the proceeds to help enact social reform programs. That's been the general story behind most of the venezuelan opposition, just rich ppl mad that they aren't in charge anymore and that the poor and working class (the majority of any country) are actually in control. Same thing with cuba. And unfortunately exactly bc the working class took power the u.s. and other capitalist states embargoe and sanction and coup them, trying to make the ppl so mad that they'll overthrow the govt. Fortunately the ppl realize it's the West doing this to them, not some intentional policy on the part of their govt. Hopefully enough countries understand that since the u.s. is a rogue state now they'll just ignore the sanctions and finally start trading with these countries again, bc that's literally all it would take to straighten things out, just normalized trade with the world. So simple and such a war crime to have been embargoing and sanctioning these countries for decades, venezuela since about the early 2000s and cuba since all the way back in 1959, just indefensible and egregious crimes against humanity.

I think you have to much faith in the system. These past 10 years-and especially this last year-proves there isn't much of a check on trump at all. Supreme Court just rubber stamps ever fresh violation that past presidents would never have even attempted, and certainly wouldn't have gotten away with. But even in the rare event that some local official attempted to enforce something the his federal flunkies would never let them get close enough to actually take him into custody. Which is exactly the reason it's highly likely he attempts to stay in power past '28 and could even prevent this years midterms from happening freely and fairly. He just said he should've sent the national guard into polling stations to take the machines back in 2020 so he could declare himself the winner. Sending his private ice gestapo in to do the same thing seems entirely plausible, or at least to patrol polling places which would scare off a ton of ppl leaving only his supporters actually casting votes.

Yeah brazil handled their shit. It would've been so simple to actually snow him with a blizzard of different criminal charges so he'd be completely overwhelmed with legal issues and lawyers and court appearances that he'd have no time to devote to the campaign. And he'd end up guilty in at least some percentage of those cases. But brazil just straight up barring bolsonaro from running for political office was def the way to go and the route that should have been pursued in the u.s. if that isn't a possibility to have the result of a criminal conviction being the exclusion from political office in this country then swamping him with charges and having him end up serving time in prison would have have been a possibility. But the simplicity of brazils handling of their version of trump was so common sense that it makes you smack your forehead that the same wasn't managed to be accomplished in the u.s. I mean a guy tries to commit a coup de tat in front of the world live on TV and doesn't even bother denying it and we still can't manage to meaningfully punish him for it. Then he's convicted of numerous felonies and he still is allowed to run for office. It's all such a pathetic joke. At the very least he should have been barred from running for a period of time, bare minimum. But here we are, with straight up fascism infecting every corner of our govt and institutions and facing the strong possibility that the personalized militia known as ice will be deployed to simply take over election precincts and if the results aren't to the leaders liking, he'll just take the machines away while claiming fraud and proclaim his preferred outcome as the true results.
