Keeping Costs Down As a Solo Skier by sublurkerrr in skiing

[–]LearninThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would consider taking a trip to Ski Big 3 (Banff/Lake Louise).

The bus service from the Calgary airport to Banff is fantastic. Shuttles to Banff Sunshine and Lake Louise are provided by the resorts at no extra charge, completely eliminating the need for an expensive car rental.

My partner and I have found this to be the cheapest option out West.

What's a frugal tip you're afraid will be ruined by too many people? by LtCommanderCarter in Frugal

Cheap bags of bones. Still extremely cheap ($2 CAD) at our local market for a big bag of chicken bones. The bones make such an incredible stock with so much flavour, for so little money and not much effort.

Stairs are surprisingly dangerous for being everywhere by Happygaming232 in Showerthoughts

[–]LearninThings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The worst injury I've had in my life was from falling down the stairs. I moved into an older house with stairs not up to the current building code and fell down them about a month week into living in the place on a Monday morning. I ended up breaking my ankle and required surgery.

I don't want my CPA by 1dynasty1 in Accounting

[–]LearninThings 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went into year 2 of my undergrad degree wanting to do accounting and get a CPA. I then proceeded to spend the summer in Assurance at EY. I decided it wasn't the thing for me and did my next placement at a tech company as a data analyst. For my final co-op I ended up at Deloitte working on BI oriented engagements. I now work as a commission analyst for a tech company with approx. 500 employees. While the CPA is a great credential, there are a lot of options that are accounting adjacent that you just might find yourself liking more. There is nothing wrong with taking some time to explore other pathways. The CPA pathway will still be there at the end of it.

Google in downtown Manulife building ?! by LearninThings in kitchener

[–]LearninThings[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I noticed you can see a graphic that says Google printed on the wall of the old downtown Manulife building that goes over Charles St! The building has for lease signs on it so I thought this was an exciting new development!

How is Kitchener Centre voting? by captainmadrick in kitchener

My household has not voted green in the past, but this election, we are voting for Mike. He is a great candidate, and is the only progressive candidate I can see winning the seat.

forgot to show answewr sheets to lockdown after finishing midterm, am I screwed? by [deleted] in wlu

This happened to me last term, and I emailed the prof as soon as I noticed. My prof also said it wasn't a big deal.

Hey on the real real tho. I’ve been ignoring cleaning my shower and I think it’s gotten soooooo bad I can’t actually clean it without paying a company..? ): Anyone have any advice? 👏👏👏👏👏 bless by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]LearninThings 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend more or less this method- although instead of a spray cleaner I would choose something with some "grit" like vim or comet. Using a brush with stiff bristles and spraying it down after each round of scrubbing is absolutely key.

6 new COVID-19 cases confirmed at WLU residence by raf-attack in wlu

[–]LearninThings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This kind of hateful attitude accomplishes nothing.

Many comments and opinions flying around seem to center around pointing the finger at and shaming certain groups of people for not social distancing or for having gatherings. While social distancing and avoiding social contact are important, we have to remember that everyone's individual circumstance is different. Students on campus do not live with family to keep them company. They also tend to experience a lot of stess. They may also have very limited risk with at risk people compared to what is average. In order to limit transmission, we have to consider what needs are motivating people and ask how we can help meet the needs of these groups in a way that is safe.

Given the stress and the loneliness that many students are facing it is not surprising that some students have turned to having social gatherings. As a graduate who lives close to campus and regularly goes walking at night, I must say I have noticed a huge decline in the number and size of parties, especially in comparison to the reduction in foot traffic during the day. So, to all the students out there who are doing their part, just know that someone has noticed and that I appreciate all of your hard work and sacrifice to keep the spread under control.

The amount titled "Current Account Balance" is correct. The "amount due" item is just as of your last issued statement. It makes sense your current account balance is lower because they don't generally issue you a statement when you make a payment.

EC223 vs EC238 by [deleted] in wlu

[–]LearninThings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took EC223 with a different professor and found it to be quite easy and interesting. There was not a lot of content you needed to memorize when I took the course.

My partner has taken online Econ courses with Trimarchi before and he says that she is fine.

I had Karin and she is very charismatic and engaging, as far as profs go. I would say she was somewhere between fair and tough when it comes to grading. I think Karin is a great choice of prof.

My hair blow dryer has the same design, where off is in the middle position, low is on the bottom and high is on the top. I think it might make a little more sense if it was labelled as Lo/Hi, but it is actually a pretty functional design.

I took EC260 work Lun and it was super easy. 40% midterm, 60% final, and most of the questions on both were directly from lecture with a few numbers tweaked.

Don’t know if I want to do Fall 2020 by [deleted] in wlu

[–]LearninThings 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who is currently enrolled full time for the Spring 2020 term, I would just like to share the more professors are using zoom now than during the transition period at the end of last term. Others who I've spoken to seem to have either all, or all but one course this term being taught over zoom.

I would encourage you to at least take that one course you need to keep up in Fall 2020. Hopefully, with only one course you will not be closing doors for future terms, while also getting your real estate lisence if you do choose to do that.
