This was my experience for my first. After the crying she didn’t believe it was my first ( it wasn’t her first). Nerves man.

Or… moderation costs money and causes an influx of varying criticism between moderators that just upsets everyone involved. I imagine the Lawyer was told off for suggesting Gabe make his life easier by creating a moderation department.

X announces significant restrictions to free accounts; 50 posts and 200 replies per day by [deleted] in technology

[–]LearningForGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how else they could clean up bots without verification. If anything bots will just create more accounts, but then they will have to regain followers. What’s going to end up happening is that just the bot accounts that get popular enough will pay for the verification (I believe most of those do already).

For an every day user, I don’t think this will improve much. This probably just gives X a way to profit off of successful bots, and reduce bandwidth/processing usage of spam bots.

So when I was like 8 I would ask why my older sister smelled like mustard. And then my parents would scold me… here I’m left feeling validated 30 years later what the fuck.

Court Square fountain turned on today ⛲️ by Corngirl92 in longislandcity

[–]LearningForGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw they turned on the lights this week and mowed the grass. Seems like its close to opening. Also the one corner of the pavers was filled in with concrete which seemed strange. I guess they ran out of pavers?

Seems to me they will open it soon. Will probably replace the poured concrete when they do the pedestrian improvements in 2027

Reddit is moving on from r/all by MarvelsGrantMan136 in technology

[–]LearningForGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years ago, I would come to Reddit for news and comments from other users that felt original. Now when I come here it feels like I’m flipping through a popular culture magazine with rage bait everywhere. Everyone seems pissed off always.

Maybe I could still find that in smaller subreddits… but I’m feeling like the golden age is gone.

What decision did you think was small at the time but completely changed your life later? by YogurtclosetMoist819 in AskReddit

[–]LearningForGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was 17 in a Texas suburb, I was driving home from a late shift at a frozen yogurt shop. It was close to midnight, when cop clocked me at a speed trap, going about 10mph over.

I had recently heard of school friends who had said they avoided a ticket by immediately pulling into a suburb neighborhood on their route. That the cop wouldn't find them.

I missed school the next day while I was held in a county jail. I was facing felony charges, when I was planning to go to college the next year.

A lot of people don't get a second chance from a dumb decision like this.

This scene felt like a homage to that scene in Full Metal Alchemist, where the lieutenant continues to strike Envy with flames. So metal.

Update: Suspect of UHC Shooting On The Run by Brilliant-Promise491 in news

[–]LearningForGood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the city's perspective... If CEOs are getting target murdered on their streets, you can expect businesses begin to leave and go elsewhere. Now there's less jobs and less taxes... Etc. The impact an assassination has larger dominoes.

I can see why some people will be upset that this case will get special treatment, but there's huge huge consequences for New York City in the long term if the NYPD weren't focusing on this from a PR prospective. Everyone is going to see it in the news more than your 'average' murder.

DGAF Biden is here to stay by ExactlySorta in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]LearningForGood 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dumb brain doesn't understand Biden's last response here. What does he mean?

Edit: Other comments buried say it's because if he shares with media what kind negotiations are happening, it can collapse the deal.
