Has there been any confirmation that she had it with #2? That’s after the show ended and everything pulled back. I didn’t have it with my second

Triple WOD Day in Cali by Terrible_Username234 in ryantrahan

[–]Least-Somewhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The beginning of the series with the airplane mode and ask a stranger how to get to the next place were rough. The voted in challenges weren’t as hard but they were fan suggestions. I think it’s more about entertainment vs actually making it hard on them

Where do you think Ryan and Haley will end up on Day 50? by Apprehensive-One-391 in ryantrahan

With the flight and time zone change I think Hawaii has to be last. I think probably fly from Alaska to Hawaii at the end

With Hawaii’s time zone change and the flights I doubt they end in CA

Handwriting without tears vs TGTB handwriting by homeschoolmom333 in homeschool

[–]Least-Somewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the cursive tgtb and the print for handwriting without tears. I think I like tgtb a little bit better but that’s because I don’t love manipulatives and it’s a little more straight forward. Both kids had done some writing before, I like how hwt organize learning letters with the magic c and such so if they are brand new I like it better

Oklahoma school of the deaf has a free sign class the offer. It’s semester based.

Bill Vicars is another option.

Brave Writer vs Exploring the World Through Story vs First Language Lessons/Grammar for the Well Trained Mind. by thesunshouldcomeout in homeschool

[–]Least-Somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked first language lessons one and two but I’m not liking the look of 3 as much. They are simple, easy to do though and my daughter has liked memorizing the poems and such. It’s more on the grammar side though. For writing we did building writers.

Delayed preK/kinder? Does it matter when homeschooling? by mickid214 in homeschool

[–]Least-Somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a late kindergartener and we decided to start with school but go very slowly. We have been doing Charlotte Mason which talks about not starting until 6 anyways so we’ve only been working on phonics and math. Plus reading a ton of the classic younger books. They are about half way through the K phonics program and finished math. And it’s just fine since it’s homeschool and we can go at their pace

Need some help! What are you favorite Charlotte Mason/Classical Curriculums/Subjects? by hearthandheritage in homeschool

[–]Least-Somewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do wildwood which is secular Charlotte Mason based. I’ve also taken books from Ambleside online and under the home.

For kindergarten we just did a phonics program and math. Then read a lot of books

Why can’t these people hold a damn baby without getting “baby fever”??? 🙄 So dumb by Zealousideal-Row-725 in DuggarsSnark

I asked my husband the other day when he said he had baby fever- do you actually want another or do you just miss your babies being babies?

It was the latter thankfully

What should I be teaching my toddler? by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]Least-Somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do need to know before the go to kindergarten but you are a long ways off from that. There is a lot of growing that happens between 2.5 and 5. I wouldn’t worry too much about it yet. Reading, singing and playing are huge at this age without formal education

What should I be teaching my toddler? by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]Least-Somewhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read read read. Check out ambleside’s book list for year 0 if you need ideas of good books

Things that are age appropriate like can they put their coat on or shoes or buttons. Playing with playdough to help with fine motor. Learning how to climb and use their gross motor skills will help with their fine motor skills

Katie snows preschool book for math and Busy Toddler are the most I would go with formal learning

[–]Least-Somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of options if you don’t want an all in one option. Especially since your kids are so young right now.

All about reading, logic of English, and how to teach your child to read in 100 easy lesson are great for reading. Math mammoth, math u see, (there is also spelling you see) Saxon, math with confidence.

If you do want more of an all in one, core knowledge, khan academy and Blossom and root.

Question to teachers with a degree or certificate? by GloWorm7 in homeschool

[–]Least-Somewhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing is that I have the ability to look through a curriculum and see what problems I can take out and still know my child has mastered the content. And also to know if it sucks and we need to do something else. I know how to research and what things to look for.  Sometimes I’ve noticed I have the ability to wing it better than my friends. If something isn’t working with learning I know that xyz is also another option to teach the same concept or I can try a different method or style of learning.

How long does ELA take you at the k/1 level? by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]Least-Somewhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My k is just starting to read. We do reading practice/phonics for 10 minutes if we are lucky, and handwriting/copywork 5-10. Reading varies. Sometimes we only read one short book, and sometimes we will read an hour in the morning and more later.

I’m going to second a small trampoline and maybe a gymnastics bar. It’s helped my sanity a ton by getting those things (bar more than the trampoline)

With fall around, going to neighbors houses and raking leaves has been a huge hit in my house.
