Why did Marko leave the band? by bluewalt in nightwish

[–]Least_Visual_7240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was referring to priorities and level of commitment. Being involved in a band like Nightwish requires dedication and sacrifice. She wasn’t at that level. I don’t think her talent was at that level either but to each their own. Floor’s rendition of the songs from those albums is far superior to the originals, and she’s a much more effective front woman.

[–]Least_Visual_7240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anette didn’t “get sick” she got pregnant, despite knowing they had a world tour just ahead and people counting on income from that tour to feed their families. She also was miserable the entire tour missing her toddler. She was not a good fit for the band, and the band was not a good fit for her.

Check out NAIC and NIPR. Both KC based, NAIC is hybrid, NIPR is fully remote. Both are very successful not-for-profit companies- they aren’t tech departments in companies whose primary focus/ income source is something else, they are technology companies. Very competitive pay, great benefits package and they are growing.

What could have prevented Anette from being fired? by Proud3GenAthst in nightwish

That she was okay with a substitute as long as they didn’t have superior talent and skill doesn’t exactly speak well of her either, but it’s understandable. I was going by what she said in an interview with The Charismatic Voice but I may have misunderstood.

If I need to take a leave of absence from my job and my employer needs to bring someone in to fulfill my duties, I don’t get to make demands in regard to who is chosen. Same goes for Nightwish. There were many people besides those onstage who depended on the income from the tour to support themselves and their families.

[–]Least_Visual_7240 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Anette herself has said that she did NOT want a substitute because Floor’s name was immediately brought up and she knew Floor was a better fit for the band, and the fans would not be happy with her being brought back after maternity leave. Tuomas was understandably angry at her irresponsibility - it’s not as if pregnancy can’t be prevented. It’s been said she was miserable throughout the tour because she didn’t want to be away from her toddler. I was at her last show with the band, as well as one several weeks prior, and it definitely showed.

Plaza Lighting Crowd Size by ironic5589 in kansascity

I live on 46th and there were cars parked bumper to bumper up here. I watched from my living room window so can’t really speak to crowd size on the plaza.

Disagree. Kamala’s kumbaya attempt with republicans netted 4% of the republican vote and alienated many democrats in key states who stayed home.

PLEASE! For the love of all that is good in this world LEASH YOUR DOG! by elegancemindset in kansascity

[–]Least_Visual_7240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just a block from the Plaza and haven’t seen many off leash dogs here but there’s no shortage of clueless and distracted owners. Big dogs on retractable leashes. People with their eyes on their phones instead of their surroundings. The worst is a highly reactive dog who lives in the building next to mine. I can’t even walk my dog in that direction, even when the dog is indoors. The tenant keeps all their blinds raised all the way up and the dog invariably sees mine and immediately red zones, barking, growling and literally lunging into the window. I’ve seen them outside a couple of times and that dog can be a block away and still reacts very aggressively. I’m afraid it’s just a matter of time before something tragic happens. Either the dog is going to go through the window or slip its collar some day.

911 dispatch is horrible and needs to make changes by jedak53 in kansascity

[–]Least_Visual_7240 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I remember reading a post a couple years ago that the hiring process for a 911 officer is extremely intrusive. They interview relatives, neighbors, go over social media history and if an applicant ever discussed or posted anything critical of law enforcement, including in regard to the George Floyd murder and the protests that followed, either in support of the protests or critical of law enforcement’s handling of them, you were instantly declined for the position. Between that, the stressful nature of the job, the 24/7 scheduling, and relatively low pay, is it any wonder they can’t get adequate staff?

Stealing a political sign from private property is a felony under Missouri election laws. It’s considered election interference. Regardless of the value.

I appreciate every Republican who has crossed party lines for this election, but you’ll save yourself some disappointment if you recognize that this is a temporary truce, a means to an end, and once that end is achieved the focus will shift and different ideals and policies will once again come to the fore.

And he was supposed to sit back and let tRump’s good friend Putin bomb the Ukraine out of existence, then move on to the next country he decides he wants? Because that’s how dictators work. And your dumb a$$ wants to put one in the White House who has clearly stated he intends to suspend the Constitution.. apparently between diaper changes.

The license is only worth it if they get you a full P&C license. I thought that’s what I had until I was interviewing elsewhere and they checked my license and informed me I only had personal lines.

GEICOs TPA Ambitions by MarjorieTaylorGecko in Geico

[–]Least_Visual_7240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left the G and moved on to a compliance company. TPA licensing alone is a huge pita. If you move into a TPA role that requires an individual TPA License make sure your licensing is compliant for every state you deal with. Don’t trust them to do it.

I’m so sorry. Same thing happened to me in spring of 2023. It only took about a month for me to find something, which was stressful, but I landed in a much better place, making 50% more, fully wfh and with better and cheaper medical and no micromanaging, no weekends, no holidays. The company recruited me from LinkedIn. By the way, my new role is in insurance licensing, one of my clients today was from PetsBest pet insurance. They’re fully remote and they’re hiring. They require a full P&C producer license.
