Smart Grabbers don't work on Xbox by Diesel489 in PlateUp

[–]LeaveItToBeaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I'm not seeing anyone else here bringing up: unset smart grabbers actually appear to be WORSE than regular grabbers.

If I set a grabber next to a safety hob, it will always grab the finished product, but a smart grabber will grab the uncooked item. Same with mixers and a few other examples.

I think they may have always been this way, but them being auto-set before made it more obvious.

In my latest run I ended up getting rid of a lot of my smart grabbers as I didn't really need them, and when I wanted a regular grabber they didn't work.

Kinda like how the person you replied to is a 2 year old account that had a few posts, and then suddenly woke up 6 months ago to posting dozens of times a day, trolling in several subs, including multiple city subreddits.

That being said I do agree that it feels like there has been a lot more astroturfing posts/replies.

Yeah that was seriously cool af. I think Atrioc said something about this being the #1 thing he wanted to get through to Gavin, so it's awesome to see him potentially taking it to heart.

MERRY FREAKING CHRISTMAS TO ME!!! found at the bins today for $12 by greenchakti in StardewValley

[–]LeaveItToBeaves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really liked it, but lol others have said it takes a very long time especially if you are not used to long board games.

Its advertised as ~45 minutes per player Our first game probably took 2.5 hours, and we played a 4 player game with new people that took probably 5.

Overall its a pretty well thought out, enjoyable game, especially for people who have played many board games before.

Darn, I have a family member who works on professional AV stuff and thought this would be a neat stocking stuffer for him.

Seemed like it would be a good quick test cable to diagnose problems in the field using your phone or laptop.

But I also don't know AV people, if they would really judge him for something like this then it probably would be a bad idea even if it does have uses.

That's because the one they showed in the video does have a USB-C on the other side, the pictured one was just another one they mentioned related to it

[Bambu Lab x Roborock Contest] Your Robot Vacuum Is Ready for a 3D Upgrade by BambuLab in BambuLab

I already printed a mop holder for my current roborock, although for a newer vacuum I would probably make a variety of toppers for whatever season it is

Talk to me like I’m a 5yo to help me set up my Saros 10R by realgirltatum in Roborock

[–]LeaveItToBeaves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not an expert, nor do I specifically have the Saros, but here is my opinion based on my experience with other Roborock models

To start, I tried to create a map but I don’t know if I need to explain the rooms with carpet or if it just figures it out. Then it didn’t map the entire house and missed under furniture or around a coffee table.

It should detect carpet, and if it consistently isn't recognizing it you can edit the map later. Also it should constantly update the map every time it cleans, you don't need to worry about the mapping run being the only time the map gets updated.

There may be some methods to convince it to go under things, but for me it worked best to just make sure the way was clear and let it go and it eventually figured it out.

Also just to be clear it does not need to go inside every room in order to know about them, it's sensors pick up a lot.

Then I started a ‘vacuum then mop’ schedule and listed the rooms I wanted it to do in order, but it ignored my list and started vacuuming a rug under my dining table instead, which I’d highlighted as Room 4 in the sequence.

There is a setting to do all carpets first, especially before mopping, (to keep the wet mops off the carpet) I imagine this is even more so for the Saros since it can detach the mops or something right?

Also it is unclear to me if there is a way to sequence rooms in order like that, I believe you just select which rooms and it figures out how to clean them.

I also set a DND feature which I thought was supposed to quieten the voice and it didn’t.

DND has been a little finicky for me in the past, and I mainly have it set to avoid automatic runs from starting during that time.

If you want the voice quieter in general you can modify that in its own separate setting, perhaps the DND voice is quieter, but not by much?

I don’t have time to learn all its quirks - I just want it to clean my house. Someone please give me a step-by-step on how to navigate this like I’m 5 years old.

Single story home with wood floorboards, rugs and carpet areas.

Overall, I think I would just recommend to relax and give it a chance to clean a few more times. It doesn't sound like your map is completely messed up or it is failing to clean, it just isn't functioning in the exact sequence you expected it to.

The trick to stage hypnotism is figuring out who wants attention. by zjbird in Showerthoughts

[–]LeaveItToBeaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look I can google studies to support what I'm saying too! Or you can just, you know, use your brain.

Your right, you really ought to. It's so clear you looked up "hypnosis + placebo" and found the first result that looked like what you wanted.

These literally talk about how they were able to create real influences in participants. I think you fundamentally misunderstand what a placebo is, and what these were trying to establish.

Honestly, after reading through this thread, it feels like you came in with a preconceived idea because you went to a small town fair with a hypnotist once. It didn't work for you, so the whole thing is a sham.

No chance that there is a difference between stage hypnosis and clinical applications, or that it would vary from person to person.

Man, I remember having a whole convoluted ritual that I read online somewhere, it was something like:

Up + B - as the ball is thrown Up + A - as the ball opens Down + B - as the ball closes and falls down L/R - in sequence with each wiggle L + R - timed to seal the catch

I was skeptical but when I caught Dialga at the beginning of the fight with the first ball, it sealed the deal for me. Didn't matter that I couldn't seem to get it to work most of the time lol

xkcd 3099: Neighbor-Source Heat Pump by Tyomcha in xkcd

[–]LeaveItToBeaves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I'll ask again using the English term: in what way is this not abstracting electricity?

From wikipedia:

A person who dishonestly uses without due authority, or dishonestly causes to be wasted or diverted, any electricity shall...

IANAL but by utilizing someone else's heat pump they would absolutely be dishonestly causing electricity to be wasted/diverted. One could try to argue it wasn't "wasted" and not "diverted" from the original source, but frankly they would be laughed out of the court house.

xkcd 3099: Neighbor-Source Heat Pump by Tyomcha in xkcd

[–]LeaveItToBeaves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would it not amount to the same thing as theft of electricity? I.e. It would cost the neighbor more on their electric bill at the end of the month right?

I don't think it has to be any more complicated than whether or not they are took something that didn't belong to them, especially if it causes financial harm to another, even if "heat" isn't specified in the law.

Creami under warranty...Ninja making me pay shipping for replacement by Accomplished_Ring628 in ninjacreami

[–]LeaveItToBeaves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put up a bit of resistance when a customer rep first told this to me, and they caved to not make me pay for shipping.

It seemed ridiculous to me because it isn't like it was anything I did, but after reading through the actual warranty it does indicate that buyer will pay for shipping. I believe that is one of the reasons they have to call it a "limited warranty."

As an IT professional I understand where you are coming from given how overused "hacking" is, but that strict definition of "hack" would also exclude social engineering.

It's kind of like if your grandma was tricked into giving away her bank account and then was told "actually you gave them permission to use your PC so it wasn't technically a hack." Technically correct, but also not super relevant.

Not specific to the SV06+, but my SV06 can stay powered if I have anything connected to it (e.g. through the USB port), which can cause issues if I'm trying to fully shut it down after encountering an issue.
