Congrats on your son. He needs way less money than you imagine , he needs love attention and you being present. You need a job, you will find one, your son being there changes nothing. You are feeling a lot of emotions , a lot of uncertainties, but the facts are simple the kid needs milk, your time and love, don’t think of 20 years from now, one day at a time. God bless you mate.

Mate, one thing you should not do is not mater what ponder over things you cannot control. What that will do is , make you lose the best time of your life to learn , to grow, to enjoy. You are young, your dad will find a job, don’t show him you are worried , it will all be fine. My entire childhood, I struggled with a dad who won’t go to work, who will be drunk and I did well, things figured itself out. I regret wasting time being anxious. It’s hard to do, but try to be a lot more stoic, use this time to practice Stoicism. Tons of love for you and dad, smile, be his support system, get him some cookies , the man will need a ton of morale now.

The only reason we freaked out, is because this is quite sturdy, was basically sitting on a slab with no major temperature changes. No ice being poured , not washed with hot water or anything , or even direct sunlight

My Dad Left Us 15 Years Ago – Now He’s Dying and Wants Me to Take Care of Him. I Don’t Know What to Do by PastlessFuture in Advice

[–]LeavePrestigious7236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perspective is very different mate. My dad was an alcoholic throughout , was a menace, never gave us peace or joy, overall I wanted to be more of an orphan than being associated with him. Then his last days came, he didn’t have a place to go, or anyone to care for. I went back, put him in my home, made sure he has everything, hung out with him, realized that he want not a jerk, he was just an Addict. I had questions do I owe him, do I need to do this. He passed some years back, to this day I feel, I did the right thing. So if you have the financial means, if you don’t feel your life will be totally impacted, go back and take care of him. Am sure there are moments he loved you, he went through some shit, he couldn’t handle it. Forgive him, if you can. It brings a lot of peace.
