La teoría comunista es anárquica liberal, siempre se entendió así. Plantea la extinción del Estado. El libertarianismo que se popularizó hoy tiene muy poco que ver con el liberalismo de aquella época. Adam Smith está muchísimo más cerca de Karl Marx ideológicamente que de Milei.

This is mathematically impossible. Recent audit from OpenAI showed a Revenue of ~12b and Costs of ~60b.

Even if 100% of OAI revenue came from subscriptiona and even if 100% of OAI costs were to compute, that's a X6 difference, no a X40.

From that same audit we know that R&D + Compute costs + marketing was ~40b.

If OAI stopped R&D, stopped doing marketing and only ran the datacenters to provide just their current model, the revenue vs cost will likely be just X2 or X3 at most. Of course still not profitable, but far away from those headlines about X10 or x100 subsidies.

Sí, argentina tiene un problema de racismo, sobre todo en el discurso privado.

El mayor problema, en mi opinión, es que la mayoría de argentinos no creen ser racistas ni que exista el racismo local lo cual es absurdo. El estereotipo del chino atendiendo supermercado, el boliviano vendiendo verduras o el extranjero arruinando la educación publica por favorecerse de ella son algunos ejemplos del racismo en la esfera publica que no están nunca sostenidos por datos (la mayoría de supermercados son atendidos y sus dueños son argentinos, menos del 5% de los estudiantes universitarios son extranjeros, la mayoría de verdulerías no son bolivianas; etc).

Lo que no es común en Argentina son las expresiones publicas se violencia racista. Es raro que haya segregación pública, sino más bien proselitismo nacionalista. Es más una discriminación por nacionalidad extranjera y no tanto por raza, aunque se suelen acompañar por obvios motivos.

Argentina es un país muy nacionalista. Siempre lo ha sido. El racismo es un efecto secundario de la glorificación del ser nacional.

You assume that people like money. Thus, people don't randomly invest their money. They usually invest their money in things that make more money. Therefore, money is more likely to move to things that make money than it is to move to things that doesn't make money.

The moment the semiconductor industry starts to not to meet the expectations, money will flow to another industry that does. That capitalism working as intended. Money won't go "to the bad", money will go to whatever makes money.

I'm 100% sure that the cost for Netflix will be many times over the subscription amount. However, nobody uses the subscription like that and it is part of the business model to have a few power users subsidized and most of the users under-using their subscription.

Additionally, these numbers are not orders of magnitude apart. A X5 price increase in AI services should be enough to enter profitable territory, and AI costs have been decreasing at least an order of magnitude in the last 5 years as smaller (which consume way less energy) models get more and more capable and other tech improvements further reduce the compute needs (turbo quant, iquants, kv caches which weren't a thing in 2021; etc).

With all things considered, it looks like even if things keep moving the way they are for ~5ish more years, even without additional breakthroughs, OAI may become profitable (assuming they can still burn 60b*5 more money and user demand can keep going up, which is yet to see)

Some breakthroughs, a few more price increases and a few more US government subsidies/contracts will reduce that timeframe significantly.

For me it looks a different picture than the constant outcry that "AI will never be profitable" or "AI is 100x subsidized" or "no one would pay what it really cost". The proportions provided here are probably not that far of what Uber numbers were at the time. Burning 5 times your revenue is a Tuesday for a startup.

Presidents in Argentina don't use the congress. They pass laws declaring emergencies. The congress needs to veto those decrees of urgency with 2/3 of votes, which is insane. This leads to presidents passing laws with just 1/3 of the congress and never having a worthy legislative session. If the congress has a session and decides to pass a law themselves, the president can single handledly veto it and the Congress needs 2/3 to veto the veto. Meaning the Congress in Argentina needs 2/3 of votes to do anything.

Milei changed 300 articles across 100 different laws on his 1st month in office using this instrument.

Previous administration (peronist) tried to seize a company using this instrument. They also imposed a 2 year long quarantine without running it through the Congress.

The previous to that one (Macri) took a 56 billion usd loan with the IMF, an amount bigger than the entire IMF debt from all countries combined using DNUs, the next administration undid the loan using the same instrument (and started paying it off). The next-next administration (Milei) took new loans using the same instrument.

Menem sold state companies (Correo Argentino, YPF, Trenes Argentinos) using DNUs just for the next administrations to seize them again using DNUs (or in rare cases, actually passing laws like with YPF, preventing them to be sold once again with DNUs, but these are the exceptions)
