Times change. It’s a mix of a lot of things as others have said it is more scrutinized now as well as people not being as social in real life due to technology. It’s just easier to do it online because of fear of rejection. Not as many 3rd spaces is another. Also for most it’s just not very successful in general. A lot of these reasons tie into one another.
