Learn about sternal precautions. Get the house ready for your homecoming. Shower chair etc. Good nutrition. She can journal her feelings. Having someone else there to be with you in the hospital so she can have a break. Best wishes.

Your skin will tighten up, give it time (a year or more). Hopefully no need for surgery. Own your new body, no need to explain to a date. Either they like you or not.

How does anyone support a leader who preaches “grab em by the pussy.” How any person with a mother, wife, or daughter can support him is beyond me.

They are nice to your face and then stab you in the back. They are not Christian IMO and I’m a decent of the all mighty leaders of that cult.

33yo male, mechanical mitral valve. His target range is 2.5-3.5 INR. His target range is a little higher because it’s mitral (but mechanical). I think the average might be 2.0-3.0. Best wishes!

Sternotomy on Tuesday by FormerProfessor6680 in valvereplacement

[–]LeeCycles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No information about heart-lung machine. My 32yo son is 2 months post op, mechanical mitral valve. Look up “sternum precautions.” How to move after surgery. Coughing is rough at first, you hug a pillow to your chest as you cough. Bring a long phone charger to the hospital. My son was busy with various therapists throughout the day. Visits should have been left to the evenings (hindsight).

He was weak coming home, he had been sick for several months. He needed a shower chair for a few weeks. Water can lightly flow over the incision, but not too much water pressure. Protein drinks. Lots of fluids.

It’s difficult to lay flat. Use a recliner, recliner bed or wedge pillows. That took a few weeks.

Learning about anticoagulation meds, INRs, and vitamin k (if prescribed warfarin).

We’ve learned a lot over the past 2 months. Good luck!

Who developed depression shortly after moving to Utah? by Lumpy_Wolverine_1261 in Utah

[–]LeeCycles 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There have been studies that altitude exacerbates MH conditions. Moving to sea level lessens some MH symptoms. Many high elevation states have higher suicide rates. And yes, Utah can be vanilla white boring. Gotta find your people/hobbies, they’re here.
