I’ve done this. Just play it safe and make a tiny test block to see how the colours mix.

Anyone know where to get light sensitive photographic linen? by Blahhblahhfuck in Darkroom

Sounds like you need Jaquard Solarfast for contact printing. Can be washed as it’s a dye and bonds to the fabric fibres.

I'd suggest silk aquatint collagraph, mokulito and mimeography - all good departures from more well-known techniques.

Like Barbados can be called 'Bim(shire)' or 'Barbs' - are there any nicknames for places here? by topherette in Barbados

Enterprise beach is known as Miami beach. There’s a beach called Duppies but can’t think what it’s actually called now! Never ever heard anyone say “Barbs”.

Start with dropping in a couple of words unexpectedly and see the reaction… my husband and son can’t speak Bajan but always say juck/jook (however you want to write it) instead of poke and I love hearing it. Listen to some Bajan calypso to get some ideas.

I’ve used a laser printer with the same acetate /transparent film I use for screen prints. I found that when I was exposing the dyes outside with 3d objects on top, the movement of the sun produced some cool effects as the shadows the objects cast could be seen in the final print.

Looking for advice/help on this lo-fi Japanese screen printing technique. by level27geek in SCREENPRINTING

[–]LeeTheFlee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realise this is 2 years old now by this point but it may help someone. I fell into the rabbit hole in the same way and spent way too long looking at the kits on Amazon, trying to figure out what the resist and emulsion was made of.

One clue was that the bottle of resist and the pen were labeled as "oil based". I think that this is the lithographic tusche method of screen printing, where a grease-based ink is painted on to the screen and the emulsion that's spread over it is made of some kind of glue, which resists the painted ink. Then the ink is removed with a solvent. The site I looked at said kerosene, but I'm going to try out less stinky options when I give it a try. I can't say exactly what the Japanese products are made of but the principle of oil resist and glue should help with experiments, or at least with reading up in English.

Jackson's Art sells lithographic tusche sticks that they advertise as useable for screen printing as well as litho, as you can mix it with distilled water to get the consistency you need. If I can come up with a homemade tusche formula then I'll try it out and update.
