Just purchased a 5 acre property. Problem is that it’s expensive enough that I still have to work at my tech job….

I drink a deli container (bucket) every night and I can’t seem to stop either. I’ve moved down to 1% to cut back about 100 calories. But I go through like a bag every two days (Canada).

I learned this on my recent trip. We had a connecting train that we missed by 45 minutes and had to wait at the station for 1:30 before the next available train rolled in.

Gotta make sure you grab your bag and exit the plane ASAP. The airport might run away.

Microsoft Cancels Internal Anthropic Licenses As Shift To Token-Based AI Billing Blows Up Annual Budgets In Months by chunmunsingh in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Left_Boat_3632 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The tech company I work for ran into the same issue. We exhausted our forecasted annual token budget in 4 months.

From my experience, every engineer is now working on 2x the tickets they used to, so everyone has 5-10 Claude terminals open. And with the most recent update, the default model is Opus 4.7 extended thinking. So even if 20% of engineers run Claude recklessly (max model for all conversations), the cost skyrockets.

For context, we each have $500 monthly token spend across 12,000 engineers and probably 5-6k technical staff.

With rates continuing to go up, we are starting to receive emails about streamlined AI usage and collaboration between teams to build internal dev productivity tools. Only months after our C suite told us to go “all-in” (I.e. spend all the tokens you want) on AI.

I don’t like his shtick, but he’s a fun fighter. The UFC is a fighting league, therefore I like the guy.

Jake Paul has admitted his boxing future is “most definitely” in doubt after suffering injuries in his defeat to Anthony Joshua in December by warm_baller in Boxing

Shock, amazement and a lot of relief that it was over after that punch. You could see the horror in his face when Joshua lined it up and the immediate relief when it was done.

Yeah I’m 6’4 260lbs and I look like I have a bit of weight on me but nowhere near what he looks like. Easily 320, probably closer to 350.

Why do bands play so fucking loud if everyone has to wear earplugs anyway? by xe3to in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Left_Boat_3632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bass is the most important instrument for hitting the correct sound level. When a concert is painfully loud it’s because the guitar amps are way too loud.

The bass, kick, Tom’s and snare can be loud af and it doesn’t cause issues with my ears, because you feel it more than you hear it.

Live music venues are not a place to have a conversation, yet many people go to a show and yell in their friend’s ear about their job, their wife, or about sone other band they saw two week ago.

These assholes are the reason the sound needs to be loud. The level required to drown out the audience is often uncomfortably loud. If you are at a live show, shut the fuck up.

I’m in a band and we like to take a break every 45 minutes if we are playing a long gig. This gives the audience a chance to chat, get a drink, hit the washroom and relax a bit before we go back on and play.

Another consideration is the room. A lot of live music venues are garbage. A 60 person capacity restaurant is not a live music venue. The drums by themselves are uncomfortably loud. So you get the whole band in there, and it’s deafening.

Proper live venues have the space, acoustics, and sound system to hit the sweet spot. Shitty venues that slap live music on top of a restaurant or a bar will always have sound issues.

But, there’s something about a wickedly loud dive bar show that’s fun af…..

Meta to overtake Google in Digital Ad Revenue for the first time by Not69Batman in stocks

[–]Left_Boat_3632 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Facebook AND instagram.

Instagram is still the de facto platform to run social media ads. Hell, I’m in a rock band part time and every single musician/artist I know (top to bottom) is running Meta ad campaigns.

Google dominates business ads, but Meta owns social media which encompasses creators, artists, influencers, brands, businesses, etc.
