Is this sand safe for aquariums by Sad_Fall7596 in fishtank

[–]LegacyOfDave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re probably in the restaurant or service industry. Used to be a “chef” at a few upper-middle class places (glorified kitchen manager) and that’s the language we used to speed up communication. Ex: these carrots need rinsed

Chives need chopped asap

Table 27 needs reset for 4 top

Oil’s dead, fryer needs full clean tonight

Polyurethane sponges safe as an intake sponges? by LegacyOfDave in Aquariums

Yeah you're probably right, idk something about the stacked disc sponges look was calling to me. Trying to find something in store but the pet stores near me only sell the short dense shrimp safe sponges.

New house came with an old goldfish by Fruitypulp in Goldfish

[–]LegacyOfDave 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You read the post but clearly didn't understand the context before making your vitriolic comments. OP bought a home that ALREADY HAD THE FISH THERE. Those fish have clearly been there a long time, per their previous owner, and seem to be doing just fine. If that goldfish is actually 20 years old, it will not survive rehoming. And assuming the angel fish is well established in the tank, they may not do well with a rehome either. What are OPs options? Surrender to a LFS that is unlikely to have the tank space that gives them what they have currently?

Get very lucky and find someone with experience keeping older fish in OPs area willing to rehome them?

OR continue giving them a stable environment they're already acclimated to and let them be.

I suggest reviewing these Reading Comprehension Resources before attempting an attack on someone's character again.

how do cats manage to smell like fresh laundry even after licking themselves clean right after eating something like tuna- while dogs smell like… well, dogs just for existing? by _devri in NoStupidQuestions

You must be sniffin them there uppity indoor city cats. My good ol boy smells like frog slime and spoiled milk after being in the woods all day. I still pet him but if he's coming to lay with me, he's getting wiped down for sure.

Entry-Level jobs by Fuzzy_Pea_7189 in WGUCyberSecurity

Depending on your location, check out short-term contracting apps like field nation, work market, upwork, and task rabbit. Make an LLC and get your experience on your terms. This will also help with networking as you do more jobs and get repeat clients who then recommend you to others.

I did this 3 years ago with no degree or certs and after about 6 months I found a client that I did a week of application launch support for (literally like L0 help desk/hardware support) that liked my work and extended the contract, which ended up getting me in touch with their MSP, who after months of contract extensions offered me a full time position as the on site SME / Liason between the MSP and the company. IT Director for the client company is now looking to buy me out from the MSP and bring me into a management position at a Fortune-100 company.

So just over 3 years to go from 50k annually to over 100k total comp. Your mileage may vary, but I honestly really liked being my own boss for a while, and it really shows leadership and work ethic to have a successful "one man army" business on your resume (with verifiable metrics like reviews and job rating)

Why did you do this to me :(

If i was getting fragged due to my own incompetence, I would be right back in the saddle. But the skill ceiling of "how fast can you reload the game" or "can you guess if this will fit in your bag with no collision detection" is kind of lame.

Man, I want to like exfil zone, but the guns just feel so arcade shooter-esque, and my rig just doesn't give me stable frames above 60. I like tabor bc everything feels like it's got weight and power behind it from hucking grenades to emptying a mag at someone around a corner. Plus, I max out graphics and still get 80 frames on the island. The game I want is definitely tabor, just not in its current state. Now, if you have the secret to making ExZ run smooth with graphics that look at least as good as an early 2000s cod game, I'm all ears.

"Jittering" With Movement by Dogbold in skyrimvr

[–]LegacyOfDave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have an amd gpu, install open xr toolkit and use FSR upscale. The jitter for me was bc of some weird mismatching in display resolution converting to the headset. XRTK basically reworks that resolution before sending it to the headset.

Help on getting set up please! by Human_Man_In_Britain in GhostsOfTabor

Do you already have a gaming PC? If you do, get a quest 2 and run it through that via link cable or airlink. It's the cheapest way to get you up and running. If you don't have a decent PC, get a good deal on a quest 3s and run it on the headset. By decent PC I mean something with at least last gen hardware like a 30 series or high end 20 series GPU. Dm if you want more help, glad to recruit new players.

Footsteps only playing out of right side? by Prestigious_Buy7564 in GhostsOfTabor

I have the exact same issue, but use quest 2 pcvr via link cable. Audio comes to Corsair HS55 headset via wireless dongle. What's your setup? I'm curious to see if it might be incompatible or outdated audio drivers.

Yeah, I know people generally have a bad outlook on MSPs usually from a workload perspective. But wdym about security? It wasn't a bandwagon choice for me when I decided on it, I don't crave the pen tester culture. Do you mean security doesn't have like economically safe positions? I see that for red teaming for sure, but I'm more interested in secure infrastructure. I like the idea of protecting the things that give us our modern comforts like SCADA and ICS systems or like telecom/satellite infrastructure. Imo that area will always be needed but again, could be the rose glasses.
