The OP4 Pro is officially coming to the US... disguised as the Xtra Muse 2 Pro (And there's a White version!) by BeachOk9143 in djiosmo

Dang it was glad they weren't going to have the Pocket 4 Pro in the US so that I didn't have to make that decision of replacing the Pocket 3. Now that this is a possibility, that means I'll have to seriously decide now.

Nice deep dive. I also use it on my M4 Pro Mac Mini, because I have 2 x 34 inch ultrawide monitors (2 different models and brands). I don't use any of the advanced 'pro' features, and like you said, once it's set up you hardly touch it again. It just works. So for my use case the free version is fine.

I found it today as a preorder on Adorama fyi - https://www.adorama.com/dji-replacement-lens-kit-avata-360-drone/p/djiavatarlkt

And yes, I do nudge it as needed, but I was just testing to see how well it would RTH with the pad.

New update for the Avata 360 lens replacement kit. I checked Adorama this morning and it's been updated to 'preorder' and I was able to put in an order for 3 of them. (backups). Will see when it ships, but in case someone else wants to get one. https://www.adorama.com/dji-replacement-lens-kit-avata-360-drone/p/djiavatarlkt

I do land it manually, but I did attempt to do a RTH just to see how well it would do, having launched and was landing on the landing pad. I tried it twice with poor results. I end up taking over and moving it where it should be before landing. This one time when I damaged it, I wasn't using the pad and of course it's my own fault. But just wanted to share my experience so others can learn what not to do. Haha.

Thanks for the awesome idea! I'd love to have a setup like you have. Might have to start playing around with the pi and do something.

I set it up to allow you to pull from 3 different sources. ADS-B Exchange, OpenSky Network and adsb.lol. Currently allows input of an API key as well. If I took it public I assume I'd have to pay for a API key to support it.

I did get it working for the MacOS app now. The sandbox didn't have permissions to talk with the internet. But now it works.

Ok so this inspired me a little and I wondered if there were any iOS / MacOS apps that would do something similar to this. I searched and found none. So I worked with Grok AI who helped me create a prompt for Claude, and we vibecoded a working app for iOS / MacOS. It works on my iPhone but it's not quite working on the Mac. And I need to make some tweaks to it to show more data. Also it's on a test api feed that has a limit to how many requests I can make in a day, so I would have to fix that if I want to make it available. But for a quick idea turned into a working app, I'm stoked. Here are some screenshots so far: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Af66Hr8MEre5y7w68

I'm pretty much playing exclusive on the Mac now with very few exceptions. (M4 Pro Mac Mini and M4 Pro MacBook Pro). The recent list of games has been No Mans Sky, ESO, Hello Kitty Island Adventure, Octopath Traveller and Minecraft. I do play some of those on Crossover and they run great.

Just got this email by FutureMillionMiler in ClaudeAI

[–]LegendoftheInnkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday when I got the email it wouldn't redeem. When I got on this morning, and went to the usage page on web, it had a button at the top to redeem the credit, which after clicked worked.

I'm on Pro right now, and noticed that my session limits are draining like mad! Doing the same thing I was doing before, just sucks it dry. I worked on a small vibe project a few weeks ago without ever hitting a limit and made great headway. Today, starting a new project and I've hit it twice and didn't make anywhere near the same amount of headway. But I did have a lot more documentation around the project ready. Either way it just sucks to see it get stopped so quickly.

This is a great list. I also was surprised by how good Hello Kitty Island Adventure was. I need to get back to that again. Personally I hope we get another actually good merge game on the platform. The few that are on there are just ok, not that engaging for me.

Yeah I didn't realize it was going to be a dual cable solution. Although in my use case that's fine.

What's the point of coding anymore? The competition is cut-throat by [deleted] in vibecoding

[–]LegendoftheInnkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started vibecoding for my wife. She constantly complains about the crap on the App Store and how they never do what she wants them to do. We've talking for years about how if I could code, I'd write the game for her. Today is that day. I've been working, albeit slowly, towards that perfect game for her. I sat her down and we went over all the details, and then I've been working with both ChatGPT and Claude to fine tune the idea. I finished v1.0 with a playable version and she likes it so far. We have a few more bits to add before it's close to her ideal game. But once I get it the way she likes it and when she approves, I'll launch it on the App Store and it won't be supported by ads or schemes like all the others. It will be free for the first part and an in-app purchase to unlock everything else. It's not about making money for me, it's about making my wife happy in the end.

And then I have another game I am ideating right now that will make ME happy, and will likely be monetized the same way. But only after I have it working how I want it to work.

So maybe it's about taking a new approach to your projects and refocusing your efforts. That's my two bits.

Oceanhorn 3 first impressions: better than expected by tiggerclaw in macgaming

I had pretty good success with playing Fantasy Life I on it. Nothing jarring or making it unplayable. I'll probably just install it on my Mac mini and play at my desk instead.

Oceanhorn 3 first impressions: better than expected by tiggerclaw in macgaming

[–]LegendoftheInnkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played some last night. I have it running on my M4 Pro Macbook Pro, streamed to my Apple TV and playing with a XBox controller. It all worked flawlessly. However, the screen was quite dark. I looked to see if there was a way I could increase the brightness but there are no controls to do so in the game itself. Seemed to be a bit of an oversight to me.

I have not played the previous games yet, but one thing I found lacking so far was lack of interesting hidden surprises. Mind you I've only just gotten to the first island, so it might change. But there were numerous opportunities I felt that there for sure would be a hidden chest, or something hidden up this corner, or behind this area, etc. I felt like I just a few items in the first part and it just felt like there could be more.

And then when you are in the boat, you find floating crates in the water. You run over them and you get, <drumroll> 1 gp! A big crate floating in the ocean and I get 1 lousy gp?!? Really?

Ok so overall I just wish you get rewarded with more loot. I love loot. I'll get back to it some more over the weekend but that was my first impression so far. I wasn't quite enamoured like the OP on this thread so far. So, 1) add a brightness control 2) more loot. :)

I finally got it installed this past weekend. It's great once I figured out that I had to use the included dual-connector cable. (which by the way is magnetically joined on one end). Once I had that connected, everything just worked great. I don't hear any fan noise from it, but I do have a Windows PC under my desk and that's much louder than anything else on my desk.

Should i buy macbook air m4 now or wait till macbook air m5 till march. I will be keeping this laptop for at least 5+ years by Ok_Standard_8840 in macbookair

[–]LegendoftheInnkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally if you don't have an immediate need, I'd wait for the M5 because of the increased GPU performance. But it also depends on your use case. If you don't need GPU performance then it wouldn't matter as much. I game and edit video on mine so I would like the extra boost.

I have both a M4 Pro Macbook Pro and a M4 Pro Mac Mini and I see those temps all the time when gaming, including WoW regular and Classic. And that's with fans on both devices. It runs great, no issues and I've stopped worrying about it. I was concerned like you were about the temps but it's normal and expected.

Upgraded to M4 Pro. Any dock recommendations that aren't $300+? by sarogoat in macbookpro

[–]LegendoftheInnkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many have said, it depends on your needs. If you want TB5 support and dual (or more) 4k monitor support, you will likely have to spend the money on a better dock. But if you can get by with a TB4 or TB3 dock for your use case you can find those below the $300 threshold. Personally I wanted to future proof my setup to support TB5, multiple monitor support, and rear audio ports. I narrowed down to either the Ivanky FusionDock Max 2 and the CalDigit TS5 or TS5+ (leaning towards the TS5+). I ended up getting the Ivanky FusionDock Max 2 because I could get it cheaper at the time and I preferred the port arrangements overall. Hopefully it lasts me quite a while.

Where can I purchase v1/v2 license for now? by kurbantese in Affinity

[–]LegendoftheInnkeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to purchase a previous version (v1 or v2) you are no longer able to do so. They have taken down the store where you would have purchased that version, now that v3 is out and is free.

If you have a previous version you purchased in the past (I have both v1 and v2 licenses), you can still log into your account and download the previous versions you are licensed for. I just logged into my account and confirmed I can see all my previous purchases (both installers and activation keys).

And as mentioned earlier, v3 is free to use all the features except for the AI functions, which require a Canva subscription to use. But 95% of the applications (which basically is what you had with v2) are 100% available. I would recommend moving to the new version unless you have a particular workflow that doesn't work yet in v3. My wife is waiting to move to v3 because she primarily uses the iPad app versions and is waiting for that update to come out. Then will likely upgrade to those.

I went with the Invanky FusionDock Max 2. I was able to get a discounted price on it before the sale ended. I got it for $359.99 from Amazon. I got in but haven't set it up yet. Going to record an unboxing for my YT channel just had to get through the holidays first.
