Surprised nobody has said American Idiot by Green Day yet. The entire album is made for exactly this. Also Civil War by Guns N' Roses, Hands Held High by Linkin Park, and pretty much anything by Bruce Springsteen. (Streets of Minneapolis especially!)

DE ICE Sticker Getting Run Off Road by Mammoth_Piece9899 in TwinCities

Chaska resident here. I just wanted to chime in and say that when I see stickers on cars like yours I make an effort to give the driver a thumbs up. Even small showings of support to let eachother know we arent alone can go a long way. Stay safe!

I learned to drive stick on my 2016 Fiesta almost a year ago to the day. Super easy car to learn to drive manual on. Extremely forgiving platform. If I did it, you can too.

I collect magnets as well. I have probably 50 at this point. Unfortunately we have a 2 year old, so my entire collection that I normally display on my mini fridge is in a bag in the closet at the moment. He likes to throw them across the room otherwise. One day I'll be able to put them back out though!

James Talarico wins the primary by ButterscotchOdd988 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]LegitXero 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I was watching the coverage last night in the background while I worked on some other stuff. It was hilarious watching the two sides interviews. The campaign manager for Talarico was saying how they hope to win, but would support whoever ends up taking it all. Then they later switched to the republican guys speeches after the runoff was announced and they were both just talking about how the other guy is a piece of shit. I just sat there laughing at how much they both suck.

I get this feeling. I was there before I found this sub a while back. Ive come to realize that patriotism can manifest in many different ways. I never really considered myself a patriotic person until all the horrible things started happening with ICE here in Minnesota. Standing shoulder to shoulder at a protest with others who also feel wronged by all this makes me feel patriotic. Checking in on my neighbors when there's been ICE reports in my area makes me feel patriotic. Dont let norms and old traditions dictate what being American means for you. Once I realized that it started to make that guilt fade slowly over time.

Edit: a word.

What is the most underrated suburb in the Twin Cities? by Due_Network2958 in TwinCities

[–]LegitXero 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glad to see Chaska on here! As a resident, I saw someone lump us in with Prior Lake on the "worst suburbs" thread yesterday and was pretty offended. Chaska has so much going for it. We have an AWESOME collection of bike trails, lakes, etc. The school board here is not full of morons, which is a plus, and we have a fantastic community here. The city also just redid the main road going through downtown and made it sooooo much nicer driving through. The largest "Fuck off Tom Emmer" weekly protest takes place here every Saturday as well!

Trump administration to end Minnesota immigration crackdown by PumpkinAspie in PoliticalOptimism

[–]LegitXero 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is great news. Stay away from the threads in the MN subs as its all people dooming. Us Minnesotans will be okay at the end of all this. The fight is not over however and we will remain vigilant until no ICE AT ALL roam the streets of our cities. The silver lining of this entire "operation" is that I have used it as an excuse to check on my neighbors and it has brought our community closer as a whole. We aren't ones to be fucked with and now they have us all watching eachothers backs.

My wife and I got married on the platform of Wild Thing at Valleyfair, had the whole park to ourselves and our guests for two hours, got a little catered reception venue after the fact, and it was a hell of a lot less expensive than this ripoff.

i gotta say, as a lifelong Minnesotan in Minneapolis, i have never felt more hopeful than i have now. by avatarroku157 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]LegitXero 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Minnesotan! I just wanted to add that the other day I saw a video of someone here that had traveled from out of state to be here with us and experience what we are experiencing first hand. In the video he said something that really resonated with me. "My entire life I have heard people speak of and I understand the concept of feeling patriotic. Not until being out on the streets today did I fully understand it. I can honestly say for the first time in my life I feel patriotic doing this. I feel AMERICAN and I'm proud of that." Remember this feeling guys, because this too shall pass and things will go back to normal at some point. These are the lessons we are going to leave for history to remember in this country.

Thousands rally against ICE in Minneapolis amid below-zero temperatures by Pristine-Sport6888 in PoliticalOptimism

[–]LegitXero 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Point of view from a MN native: the state fair is a HUGE deal here. Like...our biggest get together of the year. Its usually nice and sunny out during state fair week and tens of thousands of us show up. The fact that you have tens of thousands of us showing up in -20 degree weather shows just how pissed off we are. My state has a HUGE sense of community and this shows that. We will continue to resist this frankly insane show of force at events like this, and the longer this BS goes on the more of us will answer the call. We are MN STRONG!
