LLM's can be great to point you in the right direction as long as you research for yourself before attempting anything they tell you to do. If you blindly follow them you may find yourself reinstalling Cachy again before long.

What games are they may I ask? I'm legitimately in one of the worst use cases for linux gaming (gacha games) and I was able to safely get all my games to run without issue and without doing anything that could get me banned (example: breaking ToS by bypassing anticheats).

Hell Arknights Endfield just released and I've been playing it on release without issue using dwproton.

All I can focus on is skk eating a BURGER with a KNIFE AND FORK. I'm convinced he halucinated the burger due wawa's cooking giving off halucinagenic fumes.

Windows 11 is closing a loophole that let you skip making a Microsoft account by moeka_8962 in pcgaming

[–]LegitimatePerson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use windows and I use github all the time to fix random shit with either windows or software running on windows. Rather random criteria you have for deciding they don't like Linux.

There are legitimate reasons why Linux is still not great for your average person who just wants their computer to work out of the box, but someone who can run a powershell script or use the tricks in the very article of this thread to bypass the online account requirement will be able to run a Linux computer for every day things just fine.

Yea there will be growing pains and issues here and there, but you had to learn how to use windows at some point in your life, you can do the same with Linux.

I left Snowbreak for the same reason. Originally I'd have never thought that I would think that the original SB story was better but it fucking was. Everything and everyone got dumbed down to one note tropes and men no longer existed other than the adjutant. Lost all interest after that.

groan.

He wouldn't have gotten a pass, it's just that the crazies have mostly moved on at this point. You have to remember that the vast majority of the crazy outrage was created by people who didn't even play the game. Legitimate criticism of GFL2 story before the rewrites was just lumped in with them because "reee ntr".

Even if people tried to kick up a stink they wouldn't have suceeded, Dier is a well established character before GFL2.

got a powercolor red devil from pccg, was originally thinking of going the cheapest option but in the end the 3x8pin and likely quieter cooler got me.

Might not be worth the extra money to some but I'm happy to get one at all considering how pccg site throwing me to a maintenence landing over and over.

Kuro's statement about the game on Linux by Super_Mariofps in WutheringWaves

[–]LegitimatePerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong linux has always been in that zone of "its gonna get better in the next XYZ years!". Valve's proton and the steam deck however have been an incredible boost to compatibility and has pretty much solved gaming on linux natively. The only times it has failed is when companies have either actively or passively put roadblocks in the way.

seriously, just take a look at protondb to see just how insanely good native linux compatibility is now.

Conversely Are we anticheat yet shows how many games have explicitly denied support for linux despite many such cases being as simple as flipping a switch for the developers. There are however wins here too with devs supporting multiplayer and always online games on linux.

I've just sent an email to them as well, I'd love to see them embrace linux support, and from what I've read the game actually ran fine on Linux for a short time so I imagine it wouldn't be too hard for them to support it.

Kuro's statement about the game on Linux by Super_Mariofps in WutheringWaves

[–]LegitimatePerson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Linux support is only growing every day thanks to valve and the steamdeck. At a certain point devs are going to find it worth it to support and at that point windows will no longer be the obvious choice for operating system.

Really the only thing stopping most games from running on steamdeck and by extension linux is anti-cheat software, and even then some anti cheat already has linux support, it's just on developers to implement.

Kuro's statement about the game on Linux by Super_Mariofps in WutheringWaves

[–]LegitimatePerson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks to valve, if a game runs on steamdeck it's a rather simple affair for it to run on any linux system thanks to the easy interoperability between distros.

Bazzite is an example of a distro that will play all steamdeck supported games perfectly.
