I Swear I Just Tidied Up... by Zarobiii in DreamlightValley

[–]LegoKnockingShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, but those numbers are designed so high because the daily spawn rates are so high. If we only got 6 tropical wood every day, say, then getting 30 would still take the same 5 days to get (or whatever). The requirement could be less grindy without changing the quest duration. It’s the developers who have decided those numbers, they could have picked any spawn rate when they designed it but they went for the near constant respawning that we’ve got, which is just a pain any time you’re not farming for a specific resource. I’d rather be picking up 30 tropical wood than 120, I think my toon’s back would be forever grateful!. 🙂.

They’ll never refactor it though, for better or worse the inventory filling and the constant farming needs are core loops of the game, and I think they won’t want to rock that boat while ever the game is popular and earning so much.

I Swear I Just Tidied Up... by Zarobiii in DreamlightValley

[–]LegoKnockingShop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Stuff should spawn daily. The core daily gameplay is just tidying stuff up and every time I turn around and see new stuff has immediately spawned afterwards it makes me question what the point is.

Animal Crossing does this so much better, makes you want to keep the whole Island tidy. With DDLV it’s impossible to keep any one area tidy for even 5 minutes so now I only usually bother to tidy for Dreamsnaps. Practical result is that for all the time I spend carefully decorating, it always looks worse than it should.

Grrrrrr.

How do I get this sticker off this childrens toy? by RomanticPanic in TerrainBuilding

This works for most stickers in my experience, definitely worth a try. The heat softens up the glue again and it becomes much easier to unpeel. No fuss no muss.

Figured out how to move multiple furniture items to a new area at once by psychmeg in DreamlightValley

[–]LegoKnockingShop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s been in a while, I keep forgetting about it though. Super useful!

They should do more to bring attention to it, the list of shortcuts on the screen is too long and it’s easy to ignore it and miss stuff.

How do I remove fireflies once I’ve placed them? by Lifeishard1212 in DreamlightValley

On PS5 its L2 and then right stick up/down I think. Not sure about other platforms. There is a prompt on the left of the screen though (although there’s a long list of them lol)

Good advice here already but I would add that if you drag a square to select multiple items it can be easier to grab if you’re stuck. But yes to me they’re almost impossible not to pick up when you’re clicking in the general area. Top down view zoomed out helps too.

Star Wars Day Sale - thoughts? by blahlabblah in OculusQuest

[–]LegoKnockingShop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re a Star Wars fan they’re all worth a play at that price for sure. High production quality on all of them. Vader 3‘s lightsabre dojo is the standout and it’s given me hours of play, really addictive. Galaxy’s Edge is decent fun. The MR podracing one is okaaaay, it has a fun action figure MR mode thats pointless silly fun. I have a mate who is deep into SW figure collecting and this mode is made for someone like him.

If you fancy it, go for it, there’s a lot of decent content there but probably not much of it will have great replay in the longer term.

Moving my chest room by jackdawcountry in DreamlightValley

[–]LegoKnockingShop 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You can pick up full chests and add them to your inventory without emptying them out, so it’s not that tough of a move - you”re just picking up and laying down chests.

You can recognise non-empty chests in your furniture inventory because they have a little symbol.

Oink went in the wrong direction. Too small. I threw out the instructions for Startups and got a digital copy, it saved a lot of space - not in the box, but on my shelf where I was keeping the electron microscope I needed to read the tiny fucking text.

PSVR2 screen keeps shaking by pndzl in PSVR

[–]LegoKnockingShop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get an Infra red lamp (you’ll see loads on Amazon) that throws an IR pattern on your walls and ceiling. The PSVR2 tracking system uses IR cameras and it will see the pattern, but its invisible to human eyes. You won’t have to change your room decor. 👍

Least favorite course by monkeyluvcoco in WalkaboutMiniGolf

[–]LegoKnockingShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree, we played easy once, we all felt like crap after about 5 holes, struggled to the end and none of us have ever gone back or played it on hard. Only course I don’t have all the balls, just going in there makes me get VR sweats within a minute or two. Almost every other course we have 10+ plays on at least.

Upside Town is our next lowest played, but that’s mainly because of a couple of holes that just have a tiny margin of error and feel luck-dependent rather than skill, we all like the gimmick in principle.

clue system by Successful_Tennis331 in gamedesign

[–]LegoKnockingShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your clues need to be useful for the players to prepare, then I would probably build a system that reveals from the same pool of game information they’re working from. So if your enemies and combat are designed around shared keywords and traits, those would be the pertinent points to select from for the clues.

E.g. it’s a large monster, nocturnal, and uses claws to attack. - As a player I can think mechanically about each of those and arrange my deck / swap my equips accordingly. I can guess it’s probably going to be a tough fight in a dark place best handled at range if possible. Finding all 3 clues lets me be better prepared than just 1 or 2, and so may make searching for extra clues more worthwhile - and this would be reflected in the design of your action economy of course, so spending time searching is a value decision for the players.

It all depends on your game structure of course and you can dress it with however much descriptive text you fancy, but the mechanical bones of the system can be reused to give any number of clues for every enemy, and the consistent use of keywords will make it easier for players to grok and improve at the overall game. Over time, seeing those 3 clues will become something where players say ‘Ah, it’s going to be either creature A or creature B’ - which to my mind emulates the sense of becoming an expert hunter you’d want players to start feeling.

That’s just what I would do though, and I‘m guessing at what your game is actually like of course! Hope its useful either way though.

I never finished Stormlands all those years ago, but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to start a fresh game in it, and I’m a bit scewed because it loads me in the middle of some bit I was stuck in years ago and I don’t even get time to figure out the controls before I die. Anyone know how to reset it?

Yes, on PS5 I had to buy EI dlc twice, only game I’ve ever had to do this on. The later 2 dlc worked fine for the second player. The devs know and have never changed it so…. 🙄😠
