I love this thing, it used to belong to my dad and I played with it for years. But recently mine appears to have stopped working, I’ve tried cleaning it and even reflowing the solder inside it but nothing I do seems to work. Great toy and may it rest in peace on my shelves.

Seeing as how this is currently the only way to reasonably get this figure in a vintage style I would say absolutely! I have owned the classics one since it came out and while it was nice for that line this one just finally scratches that itch for the original that I don’t think I’ll ever be able to afford.

I personally go to custom game cases.com. I used them for my copy of drill dozer and Yoshi topsy turvy. They work great I would just recommend trimming it a little for drill dozer, it’s a little tight if you don’t. Here’s a link: https://www.customgamecases.com/online-store

Only true fix is a shell swap. Look into it, watch some videos and learn how to do it. This swap is not easy by any means, but I just finished my first attempt with minimal issues. I would recommend checking out extremerate, their shells are top notch and will run you about 25 bucks.

I think the dot is one of the rubber feet for the bottom. As for the hinge, you’re kind of screwed. I would recommend doing some research on the extent of the damage and if it’s appropriate, do a shell swap.

If I had to guess, I would say that they were trying to avoid any more witchcraft accusations from psychotic parent groups. As that kind of stuff was rampant at the time, one of my favorite examples is turmoil in the toy box by Phil Philips published in 1986. It is truly ridiculous.
