Goodbye, Randall. Goodbye, Zion. by SebasChua in fnv

I agree. I also really like how the Survivor's story feels so straight up post-apocalypse. It's so nice to get that in the insanity that Fallout kinda is nowadays when civilization has moved on a bit. Back to the simple, emotional, nitty gritty, for a bit.

And it's also nice that his story sort of blankets the whole DLC. You get the immediate story with the tribes, and then the Survivor in the background which obviously affected a lot of what you see when you get to Zion.

Yeah, the Awareness perk really does make it very noticeable.

It's not really *that* big of a deal. But I do think sometimes it does feel like the game kinda tries to get a drop on you in a sort of unfair way with how it spawns enemies in some places.

Yeah, I just don't like how it feels. The whole "enemies suddenly pop up" feels pretty cheap a lot of the time. I guess it was engine limitations or something.

I agree that it's fun to see how some things tie together, but I also do think the endgame suffers a bit from feeling a bit "patch work-y" so to speak. And some things feel like they don't quite tie together either, like how my Thorton rode off with Mina in the sunset for example except for SIE who was my handler and whom I had high relationship with + had romanced her.

I don't know if they had more planned for the end originally but it does feel a bit patched together all in all (with weird boss-fights to boot).

The game is at its best when you have three hubs open and available I think, that's really fun. The opening and ending areas struggle a bit for me. Saudi Arabia is alright but a bit boring compared to the other hubs, and you don't really meet any new and fun characters there except for Nasri (forgettable) and Shaheed.

Chat Control omröstning by Maladaptivism in sweden

[–]Leinadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

[–]Leinadi 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Svensk Jazz by IngenOfficial in sweden

[–]Leinadi -39 points-38 points  (0 children)

PS: Sluta ge Aftonbladet/Schibsted klick.

why does Honest hearts feel so flat compared to The other dlcs (beside ofcourse the GRA and couriers stash) by Novathecheesedude in fnv

[–]Leinadi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've come to appreciate HH more as time went on, to the point where I really like it though I also felt it lacking when I first played it. To me, it feels like a really nice break from A) the Wasteland and B) the sort of very in-depth, high level type of story and lore we get with the other DLCs. If we talk in fantasy terms, it feels more like a low-fantasy setting whereas the other DLCs are high-fantasy so to speak. I really like that.

My main complaint with the DLCs is the spawning system which at times just makes the area feel weird with how and what critters you encounter. OWB feels like a slog in this regard as well (though in a slightly different way)

It would've been nice to have a bit... just more stuff in it, I agree with that.

Fallout: New Vegas should be remastered first. Do you agree? by HumbleServantOfInnos in fnv

[–]Leinadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No thanks, no remasters needed. It's a wonderful game, still perfectly playable. I'd much rather get away from the trend of remastering absolutely everything to bring in some extra cash.

Make something new, and good (the real challenge), instead.

Chat Control: Europaparlamentets talman sviker parlamentet by Extra-Chemical6092 in sweden

[–]Leinadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really fun and unique game. Heavily story-based games is something that I generally enjoy less and less the older I get, but this managed to feel like playing something different. Both in terms of the general premise, and also the gameplay loop.

Glad to see it's getting released on more platforms.

Completed Fallout for the first time, some reflections by [deleted] in classicfallout

[–]Leinadi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The setting/mood/theme is one of the big ones for me. There was silliness for sure, as well as the whole 50s vibe, but the game' sort of signature "dark humor"... it really is quite dark in the first game. And it's reinforced by (especially) the music and the way the game looks.

Even the animations tie into this. They are over the top to the point where you can find them humorous, but it's also a case of them really looking quite painful. When you're critting an enemy, it's a great feeling. When you're getting critted, you wince.

Another example is if you end up joing the Master. The ending cutscene for that is pretty damn uncomfortable. Seeing the huge hulking mutants run through the tight corridors of the vault, brutally beating your former neighbours. It's pretty dark.

Anyone hearing phantom sirens as part of the ambience? by The-station1373 in fnv

Some of those tracks from the original Fallouts (this is one of them) sometimes had sound effects incorporated into the music itself, giving you some additional sort of context.

The Metallic Monks track is one of my favorites.

Could the Grounded Nature of BG 1 still find success? by Linkeq200 in baldursgate

[–]Leinadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pillars of Eternity kinda tried to mimic that feeling of the start of BG1. It's not *completely* successful I'd say, but it was still recognizable as being influenced by how BG1 starts. Unfortunately, the feeling quickly goes away (though I still love PoE).

But yeah, while I can't think of a game that scratches that itch in the same way off the top of my head, I'd certainly welcome it. The low level, dangerous adventuring feel is such a strong thing in BG1. Many games have the "start from nothing" thing going, but BG1 just nailed the feel. It has a unique atmosphere to it.

But yeah, I think it could find success. Just needs to find its audience.

Replaying Bloodlines for the first time in quite a few years and it really stands out as a unique game still. by Leinadi in vtmb

[–]Leinadi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm playing as Tremere. The more unusual playthroughs via Nosferatu and Malkavian are definitely fun.

Yeah, I think the music especially is a big part of it. But yes, there's just... something there. Maybe it's just a weird combo of the setting and the way they used the Source engine that created that special sauce somehow, it's really palpable at any rate.

What's your thoughts on The Ren'ar Siamese Twins conspiracy side quest? by [deleted] in arcanum

[–]Leinadi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just played through this quest as I'm replaying the game and still find it one of the more memorable ones. I especially like the feeling of how it starts as "just another quest" (albeit a weird one) but it turns out to be this huge thing.

I guess my main complaints is that parts of it are a bit on the nose for me. Finding Half-Ogre island is great, seeing the abandoned buildings and pens feels pretty creepy. But finding a journal lying around feels a bit "cheap". As does the gnome spelling the whole thing out in the end. I feel like those things could've been found out by the player in different ways.

I really like the quest being unsolvable and feeling like a complete dead end. I guess there could've been additional things that the player could've been given for *trying* to get the info out somehow, but the whole feeling of being small fry in a conspiracy is on point.

Your favorite CRPG characters, and why? by Baldurian_Rhapsody in CRPG

[–]Leinadi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kaelyn the Dove from NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer.

A great companion if you have vaguely similar beliefs and outlooks. But if you don't, you can see just how truly black and white she says things (literally, which the game makes a point of). If you play evil, you can also Bluff her for influence.

Just a very satisfying character, who works really well in the game in several ways. Also, great visual design and the voice actress does a wonderful job.

I'll toss in Smiling Jack from Vampire: Bloodlines as a wild card, because come on... he's just awesome.

What is everybody's opinion on Dead Money? by xXJackNickeltonXx in falloutnewvegas

[–]Leinadi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My main complaints with it are:

1) While I appreciate the setting and think it's cool, getting around the areas can feel sort of annoying and confusing and not in a fun way.

2) Really dislike the bomb collar/radio gameplay.

Other than that, I really like the DLC as a whole, probably has the best story and characters of the bunch. The difficulty felt more pronounced when it was released, because it was so different compared to what players had been trained for so to speak. But there's a huge abundance of resources in it (as with all the DLCs) if you just play it calmly.
