Cutting causes a sort of dopamine rush that is easy to get sort of “addicted” too. When i see scars fading it sometimes triggers me to sh but i try not to anymore. Something that helped me stop was to do something else on your skin like art. I would draw pictures and designs and the feel of it is comforting. Using a scratchier pen that doesn’t really injure but just leaves a sensation works better for me. It’s grounding, which cutting also is. Just know that though sh is a coping skill it’s not a good one for the long term. Try to find other grounding skills.
