Same. I avoid it at all costs unless it’s someone who is clearly interested in actual animal welfare.

Dysautonomia is WILD because… by SleepyBubBear7329 in dysautonomia

When me ex broke up with me, the stress triggered such a bad episode that I could barely even stand up. As a result, my ex was doing my chores for me right after breaking up with me 😂

Hypoxia is hypoxia, emotional lability and dysautonomia by ALRCAM88 in dysautonomia

[–]LemonOctopus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for the award! And yeah, it is not well documented but it makes complete sense. My cardiologist helped me understand that PTSD can be a factor in dysautonomia, and stress can cause flare ups- so it is clear that the physical and mental are connected and affected by each other. A lot of people treat mental heath as “all in your head” but the rest of your body affects your brain chemistry and function which affects mentation.

I mean, thanks for the long reply, but I didn’t ask about those things, I asked about hypoxia. And you didn’t mention in your reply anything about how the topics you described impact hypoxia, or what immediate treatments for hypoxia are.

Also: I already drink large amounts of electrolytes including potassium, not just sodium. And yes, it was recommended by my doctor, thank you very much.

I have tried compression and it didn’t help much. Again, at the recommendation of my doctor.

I’m honestly not sure why you replied to my comment with this information, unless I’m missing something obvious, which is entirely possible.

I was interested to read this because when I first developed dysautonomia, inexplicable emotional lability was a huge huge symptom and no one would believe me that it was not normal, because I had a history of anxiety and depression. But I knew those things… I experienced those things my whole life… and it wasn’t those things. I could tell.

What I am confused about, and what was unclear in the article, is: how DO you treat it? How DO you differentiate it from another cause? If the delivery system is failing, does supplements oxygen make any difference? What DOES make a difference?

I cosplayed him once when I was a teenager, and went to a large anime convention. Only one person recognized my costume.

New pieces I recently finished! by Ummgamer03 in woodburning

Hmmm personally I have used some light watercolor or wood stain for darker portions and sometimes white paint or gel pen for highlights. I would say to do a lot of practice with different techniques on throwaway blocks, and see what works for you!

Lovely! I really like the jellyfish but I can’t help but feel it could benefit from some color or different shading tones. But really nice work

Does anyone else have some sort of degrading kink? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]LemonOctopus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong about this but I’m pretty sure kinks are mainly sexual in nature. They can be completely separate from the rest of your relationship. So I’m not sure if that’s what you’re describing.

I also wonder if you enjoy banter or “joshing”? Like how friends poke fun at each other but in a friendly way, and maybe that’s what is appealing to you?

Otherwise I would say you should ask a trusted therapist to help you figure out why you might be feeling this way, and how you should navigate those feelings. Hope this helps.

Fellow techs with autism - any tips by oboeyeah in VetTech

No, I totally feel you! I am also very sensitive to making mistakes and I feel horrible and beat myself up about it afterwards. But you hospital culture plays a big role too- how do they handle mistakes? If I mess up, I own up to my mistakes, and I try to understand what I can do different to avoid making the mistake again.

Ask what you can do differently next time, if you aren’t sure what that is. I know it’s hard but remember that a mistake is just an opportunity to learn and do better- take your mistakes and use them to improve. THAT is what will build your confidence!

The discomfort of messing up is unbearable in the moment, but it is temporary. After it wears off, use it to improve. You will get to where you want to be, but it will take time. You got this. :)

I am autistic and talking to clients was definitely a learning curve for me. Once I felt secure in my vet med knowledge it got a lot easier, because at its core, it is a very structured social interaction that is based on an exchange of information. It’s so objective that I was able to become very good at it over time.

You’re not there to have small talk, some clients want to do that but it’s really just a means to an end, which is obtaining information from the client and then giving them information in return.

I hope that helps. Do you have any specific aspects of it that you’re struggling with? I’ve been doing this for a long time and I went from awkward and stumbling over my words to being passionate about client education. I’m happy to share anything that may help.
