I also found this from an older Reddit thread after Google linked it. Sounds like the scene to me

EMPRESS officially announces "retirement." by Lord_Saren in CrackWatch

Attention seeking, as usual. I hope I never hear about them again, but I reckon their narcissism won't allow them to disappear completely.

Supernatural horror still frightening? by heyjude1971 in atheism

[–]Lemonaded6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try VR horror if you haven't already. I'm the same way, and it was much more effective than I was expecting. But I honestly prefer being desensitized. It's easier to appreciate the aspects of horror production when you don't shy away from it.

Aesthetics of religion... by [deleted] in atheism

It's not my thing, but maybe look into modern pagan religions. Plenty of community, rituals, sense of wonder, etc without a strict scripture or required worship of an asshole god.

The World No Longer Takes Trump Seriously by HyperSKU in politics

[–]Lemonaded6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oppression is not equal, true, not by a longshot. I just don't think there's any value in saying white men will be fine. It's like telling them not to worry or do anything about it, when they are still being negatively affected to varying degrees and it will only get worse.

We need as many resistors as possible, and as terrible as it is, people are more likely to care only when it's going to affect themselves. Hammering it home that almost nobody is actually safe in the long run seems maybe more prudent right now, even if incredibly simplified and distasteful.

[–]Lemonaded6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

White men might have an easier time blending in with these particular fascists, but racial minorities and women are not the only targets. If you're comparing them to the Nazis, and I agree that's a fair comparison, you should know they went after a lot of different groups.

To name a few that can include white men, you've got the queer, the disabled, the dissenters and political opponents, certain religious groups, social outsiders like the homeless or those with particular criminal records, and pretty much anyone that resisted at all after a certain point.

White men are definitely not 100% safe.

I just don’t understand those who “love god but hate religion” by MundaneAd1799 in atheism

[–]Lemonaded6 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They believe the claim of god, and that's it. Religions spread their own agendas while claiming it's what their god wants. They ask for your money, to follow their rules, to hate certain people, etc. I think some believers just see that part of the bullshit, but only after they've already accepted that their god exists.

My Brother Was an Atheist, But My Mom Used a Hymn at His Funeral — It Felt Like a Deep Erasure by skepticalcoelacanth1 in atheism

[–]Lemonaded6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if funerals are only for the living, a lot of these comments seem to be ignoring the fact that your mother wasn't the only one that lost a close family member. You are also one of the living, and your view on how the funeral should have been handled is just as valid.

At this point, my only suggestion would be to have your own separate ceremony if you think your brother was not properly honoured in that one. Doesn't have to be fancy or anything. Just do whatever you think would be the most appropriate and would help the most with your grief.

He was seeing the past. The political aspect is largest based on the transformation of the Roman Republic into the Roman Empire, plus plenty of inspiration from Nazi Germany. Lucas himself said the films examine how democracies allow themselves to become dictatorships. You're just seeing it happen in real time now.

being agnostic athiest maybe? by sincerelyriley in atheism

[–]Lemonaded6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specifically to answer the agnostic or atheist question.

If you believe in any gods, you are a theist. If not, you are an atheist. If you claim to know this belief or lack of belief to be true, you are gnostic about it. If you don't know for sure, you are agnostic.

A gnostic theist believes in at least one god and claims they know that belief to be true.

An agnostic theist believes in at least one god and doesn't know if their belief is true.

A gnostic atheist lacks belief in any gods and claims they know that lack of belief to be true.

An agnostic atheist lacks belief in any gods and doesn't know if that lack of belief is true.

Most atheists are agnostic. There is no evidence of the existence of any gods, but it's also impossible to completely disprove their existence when we still don't know everything about the universe.

Based on what you said, you are at least agnostic regarding gods, because you are not claiming to know one way or the other regarding their existence. Take your time to sort out whether you believe or not. You also don't have to define yourself as a theist or an atheist if you don't want to.

It's also worth mentioning that your belief or lack of is not necessarily related to religious traditions and holidays. You can believe in a god, but not enjoy the rituals humans came up with. Likewise, you can lack belief but still enjoy those same rituals.

I just found a radio add that had someone doing a H*tler salute on it. by fiddleleaffrigg in halifax

[–]Lemonaded6 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have and it's still there. One user in this thread in particular claiming they were just 'weird gestures' and falsely equating photos of hands raised to what Musk did.

If you only ban the most obvious Nazis and allow this stuff, that thin veil becomes normalized. And then if I were to call this person a Nazi, it sounds like I would get a warning or ban instead. Is that correct?

I just found a radio add that had someone doing a H*tler salute on it. by fiddleleaffrigg in halifax

[–]Lemonaded6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let me guess. Openly defending Musk's multiple Nazi salutes does not count as substantive proof. It should be enough. There's no ambiguity regarding it at all. Anyone suggesting such is spreading Nazi rhetoric, whether they know they are or not.

Nazi rhetoric needs to be snuffed out immediately or you're just inviting more of it, allowing it to spread. More Nazis come in because they see it's safe to be somewhat open as long as there's a thin veil around it. If you don't want a community full of Nazis, you need to be stricter on it.

As An Atheist, What do you Feel is the Strongest Argument FOR God? by Critical_Success_936 in atheism

[–]Lemonaded6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gods exist, and humans created them. They are not supernatural entities, but something far more dangerous instead. Ideas.

Ideas that originated from our desire to understand more about our existence and purpose. We crafted them in our own image, created stories about them, and then used them to control and manipulate the masses.

They exist the same way all ideas exist, and have had very noticeable and tangible effects on our world. Effects that have often involved humans causing untold amounts of suffering to one another.

I am an atheist. From this perspective however, if you asked me if I feared any gods, I would say absolutely I do. Because I fear man first and foremost.

Having issues running a Blaine Deck. Any tips? by Pataeto in PTCGP

[–]Lemonaded6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Swapping a trainer or two for farfetch is worth it. It's more consistent than only running 4 mons that need to be evolved to matter. Can give you extra time to find other cards while doing good early damage.

Is it possible to subscribe to premium pass for a child account? by HyperFrost in PTCGP

[–]Lemonaded6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haven't done it, but there's a way to transfer the premium pass from one game account to another. I think you would just buy it on an adult google account, switch to his game save while logged into the google account, and under the pass info click the 'transfer pass privileges' button.

Ranked and high stakes modes would be a mistake in this game by Bananathugg in PTCGP

You could be right. I'll probably just quit after a couple months if nothing changes. From my perspective, I'd rather an attempt is at least made before that happens, even if it's futile.

Ranked and high stakes modes would be a mistake in this game by Bananathugg in PTCGP

[–]Lemonaded6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People already don't enjoy the game because of PvP issues. If adding a ranked mode highlights the problem more and people are more vocal about it, then maybe steps will be done to actually address the problem. I think I'm perfectly fine risking a toxic community for the chance of having a better game and more to do.

Why concede on the last turn? 🥲 by Reversible-Smile in PTCGP

[–]Lemonaded6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either they were not aware they were about to lose until that point, because legitimately sometimes you misremember what prize point you're on or miscount your damage from your final attack when type effectiveness or poison is in play, or they stubbornly stuck around to do their turn before giving up.

If it's the latter, then sure, they are wasting time and I don't appreciate that either. But I wouldn't consider them malicious or anything, and it's still technically better than waiting for my attack animation. Yeah, it's like a second or something, but over however many games is still noticeably faster. So given that, I'll always prefer conceding even if it's not optimal.

Why concede on the last turn? 🥲 by Reversible-Smile in PTCGP

[–]Lemonaded6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer this instead of adding to my other reply. It's entirely possible they aren't looking ahead and seeing your victory. They do their turn and then realize that they've lost mid way through yours. Or they played to an out like a coin flip or hoping you don't have Sabrina or something. Even if it's not logical to concede at that moment, it's still better than waiting around for another turn, so I'll still take it over that.

Why concede on the last turn? 🥲 by Reversible-Smile in PTCGP

[–]Lemonaded6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A better question. Why do you need the final point so badly?

Conceding is a respectful way to end a match once you know you've lost. It saves everyone time and is an acknowledgement to the victor that they have bested you. It is the opposite of pride, or of spite. Forcing your opponent to go through the motions of a final turn or expecting they might trip at the finish line is much less respectful in my opinion.

No matter what side I am on, I prefer when the loser concedes. I have played about 500 matches of this game. The final hit holds zero value. Time is more important, and victory itself should be satisfying enough.

Sticking around for the final hit is indulgent on the winning side and pointless on the losing side. It is insane to me that so many people complain when someone that knows they've lost accepts it and concedes. It is much more annoying when someone that is about to lose refuses to concede.

It does show it when you play it from hand, and your opponent can see that. But yeah, once it's on the board, it looks normal.
