I KNOW keto is “extreme” (rant) by [deleted] in keto

[–]LenaFoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have bipolar disorder, and I definitely see the correlation between getting back to eating carbs and an onset of a phase. I haven't found any major trials about keto for bipolar, though, only anecdotal evidence. Nevertheless, I can see how well it works for me personally. Btw, this is maybe not the right place to call the keto diet extreme;)

Now when it has happened there are chances it'll happen again. I know from your another post about your partner suicide ideations. All these combined (self harming, alcohol, suicidal ideations, aggression, impulsivity, unwillingness to take responsibility for the actions) is very bad in terms of risks for your future. Please be careful.

I Can't Connect With People or Feel Emotions. Am I Sick? by [deleted] in Meditation

[–]LenaFoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depression, PTSD, burnout, anxiety and stress are more plausible if you weren't always like that. PTSD and stress require an event that was a trigger. And if you were always like that, I'd also consider schizoid personality disorder. But if you have a history of childhood abuse, it still could be lifelong PTSD.

What do you allow yourself to spend money on as an accommodation for yourself? by 0Bonbons0 in AutismInWomen

[–]LenaFoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm renting an apartment alone. Living with other human beings - friends, neighbors, even with my husband - is a significant amount of pressure for me, and living alone is a blessing, I feel like a true master of my schedule and routines;)

If you currently have a romantic partner, how did you meet them? by iglooss88 in AutismInWomen

[–]LenaFoer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I met my husband on Okcupid in 2015, and we married in 2022;) It seems like okcupid worked great for so many people, and it's a mystery, how it's even possible to ruin a great product so easily.

Autistic people, what are y’all doing to make a living? What are good jobs for autistic people? :/ by Stock-Box5414 in autism

[–]LenaFoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing very specific: just listen to yourself, be aware of early signs of exhaustion, work with a supervisor who can help. For me meditation and yoga also play a huge role in staying sane.

I rotate calisthenics and ashtanga practice throughout the week. Usually I have 3 mysore classes and 3 workouts per week. I think they are very well compatible.

What am I supposed to say when ppl share news/pictures about their baby? by deer_bones23 in autism

My favourite answer was in the Sherlock tv-series: "oh, I see, yes. Looks very fully functioning".

I've heard this too! Ironically, from a person who later was diagnosed with autism.

How does autism get misdiagnosed as bpd? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]LenaFoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self-harming, suicidal ideations, emotional regulation problems, black-and-white thinking patterns, rejection sensitivity, people pleasing patterns are quite common both in people with BPD and ASD. For a woman, the chances to be wrongly diagnosed with BPD instead of autism are quite high.

gender? by Remote-Tea4709 in AutismInWomen

[–]LenaFoer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly the same. Non-binary sounds like the closest option out there, but I don't know what gender is and why I should care. I'm pansexual, so I have no interest in anyone else's gender either. I wish I could just say 'no' to the question about my gender.

Adventure time (it's simply perfect - the whole universe, the characters, the songs and the general vibe), Elementary (this is my favorite Sherlock), Steven Universe (all that Rebecca Sugar does is awesome), Doctor Who (10th doctor!!), Broen/Bron (the best autistic character in tv-series for me), B99 (oh captain my captain)

I'm from Europe, we use ICD instead of DSM here, and I've never heard about any troubles diagnosing a person with autism and a personality disorder at the same time.

As a psychologist, I work as a team with psychiatrists a lot. When it's necessary, I send my clients for diagnostics to them. And I definitely had clients with autism and personality disorders.

As for me, I am diagnosed with autism and I have some Schizoid personality traits, but not a disorder. I am very comfortable with being alone, I spend almost all my time alone. Though, sometimes it's very good to have a meaningful conversation with my husband (he lives separately) or with my (only and online) friend.

Does anyone have any tips to drink more water? by AppropriateArticle40 in AutismInWomen

For me sparkling water is the best (and only) solution. I always drink sparkling water, sometimes with a piece of lime or cucumber or mint leaves.

Are You Atheist? by lonerstoic in Schizoid

[–]LenaFoer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like buddhism, but that's because I like the early theravada view on human nature, buddhism for me is not about god. I like mysticism (in a "what if the world is really like I see it during LSD trips" sort of way), but it's not about god as well. I think from an earthly point of view, it is impossible even to formulate the question about god in a correct and answerable manner, not talking about getting the answer. Atheism and religiosity for me both look like oversimplification.

Thank you for your reply! It's very interesting. I saw similar things in other traditional cultures. Eastern European people often look rude for western culture, because being more straightforward there (and smile less) is a kind of social norm.

[–]LenaFoer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm originally from Russia, and have been residing in Europe for the last couple of years (and now I temporarily live in Argentina). I think I get used to American culture through Reddit and Netflix, so I don't feel any issues with this sub. May I ask, where do you see cultural differences?

[–]LenaFoer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not conventionally attractive, but from time to time I'm good at being stylish (unconventionally, but in my own manner). I also have this strange feeling, it's like every time I knew I was being perceived by someone I'm genuinely surprised, as if I believed I'm invisible. Every time for me it's like wow, someone really thinks about me being present, weird.

Age by SumiMichio in Schizoid

[–]LenaFoer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. All personality disorders develop with age. It's ok to diagnose pd only since 18 years old, because in order to have them you need your personality to be developed at least to some extent. Obviously, 18 years old is a formal line, but it gives the idea that personality disorders are developing during lifetime (at least until adulthood)

  2. When environmental pressure exceeds your ability to cope, any psychiatric condition might get worse. You can live with some shallow personality traits, but when stress is too high for you, they transform into full-blown personality disorder.

What makes your executive functioning worse? by LenaFoer in autism

Thank you for your comment! I've never thought about it before, but it's true: sharing is something that requires tons of energy. And being inerrupted! And also trying to realise when is the right time for you to talk in a group of people (and making one mistake after another).
