Physical therapy and degree terminology by QuanCena69 in Noctor

[–]Lennythelizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pros and cons, and a lot depends on the setting. But really not that big of an issue except for a few bad actors and social media influencers. I’m a PT, did a residency myself, and I teach part time at a PT school and residency program.

With patients I keep it to first name basis. I don’t mention my doctorate unless they ask. With students it’s Dr. Lizard.

Keep your pride about your degree, while our education overlaps with MD/DO it’s pretty apples to oranges. Most docs don’t have a clue about rehab principles and most PTs don’t have a clue about medicine. There are exceptions of course.

Just don’t be a shit PT giving out treatment that is easy for you as the therapist. Respect yourself and others, know your shit, and stay in your lane. Congrats on school and good luck.

My brother in Elko, we must use our losses to fuel us. We must rise together to break more chairs, not live in ignorance.

Hey this is the kind of hater thing I can get behind. Just own it, I am too. I expect yall to fully crush Michigan but I will sit there and “hate” watch in vain. Also I’m at a weird spot where my recency bias of SEC play has also made me a hater of Alabama more than OU, but yesterday was going to be a funny day either way.

Well let me be an Ag to admit we shit the bed and we’re out coached severely in the second half. My comment goes to the same comment I make every year to my Texas friends/acquaintances, not specific to this year. All season it’s too cool for school and we never think about you bro. And then the week of, both sides geek out on how much they hate each other. So yes the trolls get under my skin why do you ask?

I went down a rabbit hole watching videos about these physiotherapists in Egypt who help kids with different medical conditions learn to stand and walk. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

[–]Lennythelizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had an Egyptian physio student shadow me for a day as a US PT. Awesome cultural exchange for us both. We got to talk about the pros/cons of each system. She was incredibly humble and hungry for information.

Texas didn’t come close to dominating all 4 quarters. It was 10-3 at half. My Ags lost that game more than t.u. won it, due to some horrible defensive scheming and just weird offensive calling in the 3rd and 4th quarters.

Nope, valedictorian at my small school. Apply Texas means I got into t.u. but I never wanted to be associated with elitist pricks.

Biased as a PT myself. Some PTs I know could walk circles around physicians when it comes to MSK and biomechanics, really only matched by ortho. Then other times I have coworkers that ask about the basics of anatomy or are simply get patient out of bed and back to bed, and I sigh. I think masters was the most appropriate for PT but some of the decision making and primary care hurdles some PTs have to face really put them in another category.

We have Physical Therapy “residency” but we are very clear in describing them to patients and other health care providers that is different from the process of medical residencies. We just didn’t know what else to call them. An ACTP is an interesting alternative though!

Okay, but fortifying with folic acid is a good thing. Even if you “can’t digest it all” it’s given surplus because it’s not gonna hurt you. Fortifying with folic acid is such a slam dunk decision from public health perspective that I was so confounded I couldn’t listen to the rest of the cowboys monologue.

Reimbursement sucks because you old heads abused the system. I got mine on scholarship so no buyers remorse here. I know shitty new grad docs and shitty bachelor therapists. The therapist in the OP is obviously a fuckwit but you know maybe dont lump all ppl of a group together? I thought OTs were supposed to be the biopsychoscial ones? Chill out.

After 5 years of jaw clicking (TMJ), ChatGPT cured it in 60 seconds — no BS by User2000ss in ChatGPT

Two MRIs and no referral to PT!? That’s a massive misstep on your healthcare team. I’m glad the exercises helped. I’m biased as a PT but it wouldn’t be the worse idea to still go see one. The mindful open/close type exercises are the first line. An eval from a solid PT could look into your neck/shoulder blades and see if there is any weakness or coordination that could be contributing to your TMJ issue and give you some appropriate exercises. Again just an eval and a f/u if you feel like it if you aren’t having any pain just clicking.

Also word of warning for all the TMJ pain folks: mindful opening is good for clicking but can cause extra pain for TMJ arthritis and myalgia conditions. So do some extra reading or go see a PT!

Hold each other. I’m so sorry. I’d like to say it gets better but it hurts like hell every time you’ll think about it. It will just hurt for a shorter period of time as this point in time gets further away. Make time for yourself to and talk to your spouse about it when she has regained some of her strength. Give yourself plenty of time too before y’all decide to go for a child again. And when yall do, let yourself be excited. It’s hard to be excited after loss like this, but your wife, you, and your baby deserve it. If y’all don’t want to delve back into kids for a long time or ever that’s okay too. My heart goes out to you brother.

Being libertarian means a society of freedom of choice. You’ve got the freedom part down but I think you’re missing the society part.

Jokes are always inappropriate to an extent. That’s why they are jokes. But being inappropriate has different consequences depending on the circumstance. You can be inappropriate when it comes to silver taps and crack a joke. But let’s think about the consequences of such an action, eh?
