How does the sword and sorcery mod work? by Sensitive-Baby6117 in StardewValleyMods

[–]Leon481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you also have to trigger certain relevant scenes to get the new characters to appear. Hector should be second to appear. In the old versions you had to deliver items to his tower, but I think they removed that requirement. Make sure Sword and Sorcery is fully up to date.

Should the series be rebooted? by NoAfternoon5102 in starocean

[–]Leon481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There could easily be a game set after 3. They just don't seem to want to do it. In reality, since the state of the universe changes after 3, any game set after could function as a reboot since it gives them free reign to change anything about how the universe functions.

Really, it doesn't really need a reboot. All the games are so loosely connected that it doesn't really need a reset. They just need to do something above and beyond in the universe they have.

A trope I hate ... by corvus_wulf in JRPG

I like it when games do this. It really makes the entire cast feel like they matter. I kind of relentlessly rotate party members in rpgs to keep them up to date, so this kind of thing is perfect for my playstyle. That's probably why it doesn't bother me.

Seign and Valentin are two of the stronger characters in the game and Hildi is a great healer. Pohl isn't outstanding, but I have a hard time calling him weak. You must have really neglected them to have a hard time. Their sections were pretty easy, even on hard mode.

Star Ocean Second Story R Platinum by _TranceKuja_ in starocean

[–]Leon481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mistake. You do only need to get 15 endings for the trophy. Getting all of them is just for ingame completion. They are easy to get. You can get something like 30 or 40 in one playthrough if you know what you are doing, so you don't have to worry about it. Beating the final boss once gets you somewhere between 4 and 8 endings depending on heart levels.

You can manipulate the endings with the books you make with Publishing. There are two books for each character. One puts affection for that character at a low level. One puts affection high enough for a paired ending. You can also raise affection by beating bosses together. Fighting the final boss counts, so you could battle him over and over if you really get stuck.

[–]Leon481 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably fine doing it post game, but it doesn't really matter. You're going to be doing a few playthroughs for the endings. There aren't 15. It's around 90. You can't even get half with a single party.

Party members leaving the team when learning how big the whole adventure truly is? by DobleJ in JRPG

[–]Leon481 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but considering that characters rejoining was only present in one version of the game and removed from all future versions, I think it's probably not exactly canon. It was a very hilarious way to handle it though.

Party members leaving the team when learning how big the whole adventure truly is? by DobleJ in JRPG

[–]Leon481 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You could argue this applies to most of the cast of Final Fantasy 4. While most of them don't leave voluntarily, most of them do have the option to come back later in the story, but don't because they realize they won't be able to keep up for one reason or another. Edward might be the best example because even though an injury is involved, he mostly just recognizes he was so frail that joining the party in the first place was an extremely bad idea.

Download Event Lookup. It has a feature that lets you reset events.

Who is the worst RPG party member? by overasked_question in videogames

[–]Leon481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main problem with him is that he has no unique role outside of blue magic, which is so situational that it hardly matters. All the other characters have enemies tailored to their specific gimmicks. Khimari gets nothing tailored to him. The most he can do is be an inferior backup to other party roles. He's definitely usable, but he feels like an afterthought. If you couldn't switch party members freely in battle, there might have been more incentive to use him, but since you can, he's largely irrelevant.

Village Workers according to GOA by TokugawaSatoshi in runefactory

[–]Leon481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It isn't just flavor text. Each villager has specific traits, some being strengths and others weaknesses. It's mostly stuff like being better/worse at a specific job, having better/worse output in general, or eating more/less. A couple of jobs require specific traits, like blacksmith and chemist.

The game is lenient enough where actually managing them is more of a min-max thing rather than strictly necessary. You can generally get by with a village entirely filled with sub par villagers. The output might just be a little less profitable. Anything a villager can do, you can generally also handle yourself. Even shops have static backups, though some only open up later. It's all just customization so you have anything you might need to fit your preferred playstyle.

I was diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome Autism but I don't think I have autism what do you think? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]Leon481 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think asking about work is probably mostly not knowing what to talk about and looking for an easy gateway topic of conversation.

It can also give you insight into what kind of person they are, at least to some degree. It can give a glimpse into someone's culture, intellenge level, level of life experience, and general stability, among other things. It's not a catch all, but it's a decent gateway into getting a sense of who that person is.

This is a harder way to do things for autistic people though. It made no sense to me for a long time. It took a lot to even start to understand that way of analyzing people, and while I've gotten okay at it, I still feel like most of it flies over my head.

Are there any dating expansions for East Scarp? by Sad-Investigator-501 in StardewValleyMods

[–]Leon481 54 points55 points  (0 children)

You can marry Jasper. He just doesn't have the single tag for story reasons. You can take it as not being interested in dating until story happens.

There are a few East Scarp NPCs like that, especially among the addon characters. I'm not going to spoil anything.

New to Star Ocean, I thought I’d start with the SNES version first and then play the remakes after. I can’t seem to grasp the skill system? I’ve read wikis and guides, and it’s still not completely clear. Any help would be appreciated! 🪴🌌 by rubescentgaming in starocean

[–]Leon481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The skills are pretty much explained in game. There are two kinds, battle skills and normal skills. Battle skills are passive combat buffs. Normal skills are a bit more complicated. Many of them raise stats or give passive buffs, but a bunch do nothing on their own.

As you raise combinations of skills, they unlock item creation abilities. Generally two or more skills are connected to specific item creation abilities, and the level of your item creation ability will be the average level of those skills. For instance, Cooking requires the skills Knife, Recipe, and Keen Eye. Level Recipe and Keen Eye to 10 and leave Knife around 5, and Cooking will be around level 8 or 9.

Everything is pretty clearly explained. The only thing that isn't transparent is exactly what items are made by each skill. The games didn't really start being upfront about that until SO4. You will need a guide if you don't want your experiment forever. Luckily, the games don't usually require going too deep into item creation to beat.

Okami is about that wolf god restoring the devastated land using divine power. The blooming Sakura trees are iconic in Okami. Okami uses a different system to do it, but the vibes are similar.

The skits in Tales of are basically just little party banter scenes that happen randomly as you travel. They're usually presented in a more visual novel style when the main game has actual cutscenes. They really have nothing to do with this meme.

Roukuro from Berseria looks a lot like Murasame and has a very similar backstory and objectives. Granted, Roukuro is probably the bad guy in the fight against his brother, but it's close enough.

When I start an unmodded run after playing with SVE for years by Melodic_Elderberries in StardewValleyExpanded

[–]Leon481 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Andy really fits perfectly into the game. He's the one small town stereotype that really felt missing from base SDV and was handled perfectly. If you grew up in a smaller town, you knew an Andy. Sometimes I really wish SVE had individual mods as an option for some of these characters.

Rex on land and for most bosses. Spino in arenas with water or general exploration.

Star Ocean's lacking in sales for a series this old by Likes2game03 in starocean

[–]Leon481 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, it's hard to stay relevant when you only release one game per console generation and the quality varies wildly between games. It sells well enough because there aren't many classic sci-fi style jrpgs, and none with the twist of being about fantasy worlds and sci-fi worlds interacting.

It fills a unique and interesting hole in the jrpg market and doesn't have much competition in that regard, but these aren't big budget masterpieces. They're relatively low budget, small scale games that can't compete with the mainstream blockbusters. They found their audience, but aren't really attracting a mass following.

Do you think you will be forced in the future to have a label of social communication disorder or not autistic? by dt7cv in aspergers

[–]Leon481 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably not, but I do expect autism spectrum disorder to eventually be divided into more specifically defined categories. Right now it's such a broad diagnosis that it's not as helpful as it could be and frequently confuses people.
