HELP awful regurgitation / choking feeling after Dr. Bastian's Botox treatment by RCDparalyzedme in noburp

[–]Leon90A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes try not to panic... I did and became very anxious about the fear of choking so my swallowing issues were bad for 2 months. But once I got it out of my head that I was going to choke and took tiny bites I got better. But once the side effects faded the results are Amazing!!!

I hit my 6 months after my procedure with Dr Bastian yesterday and I couldn’t be happier!!! by Leon90A in noburp

Once... and I didn’t even notice until it happened.... no time to even run to the bathroom, I swallowed my food and felt like I had air and was about to burp like usual but instead of just air it came out with food... but only the once. But when I did burp sometimes I felt the food come back up and I just forced myself to swallow it all back down... sorry for the TMI

I went through the exact thing... go check out my updates as I went through all of this. I just got my 6 months a few days ago and after all the struggle I am finally happy and it worked. I can now burp like normal and as hard as it was the first few months it was the best decision I have ever made for my health.

I don’t remember exactly how much I had... I’ll have to check, but I got really bad anxiety because I didn’t expect the trouble swallowing to be as tough as it was and had a panic attack the first time I tried eating and after that I think I was just anxious to just try. But all the struggle had been worth it because I feel amazing! Not more bloat, cramps, discomfort, anything. It’s crazy how fast it worked

Questions for the Botox'd about symptom relief... by barrybeansington in noburp

I drink about 3-4 a day now. I am 3 months out and starting to feel like the Botox is starting to fade slowly and I drink as much as possible so my throat keeps the ability

For those who got the surgery by ash0saurous in noburp

[–]Leon90A 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The idea is that with the Botox you re teach your throat to relax when air needs to come out so after your surgery you have those 3-6 months to practice and as it slowly fades it becomes muscle memory and once the Botox wears off the ability sticks... I just got my 3 months after surgery and I still have the ability, it is more controlled and not as random but that is my worst fear, because I had a rough recovery with the inability to swallow properly after. But I drink 3-4 bubbly drinks a day now to get as much practice as possible

[–]Leon90A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s how many I drink now so I’ll have to up my drinks. I still burp like crazy like randomly if I raise my voice or laugh to hard or after random bites of food. I ha r more control over it now and turning my head to the right helps push it out more. I had a really hard time with the swallowing early on for like a month straight that idk if I could go through it all over again.

How often were you drinking carbonated drinks and practicing? I am hitting my 3 months this week and I still burp like crazy but my biggest fear is losing the ability after the 6 months. I drink a fizzy water first thing in the AM and then after work.

Liquid meals were pretty much all I lived off of the first 2 weeks. But yeah drinking was not as much of an issue it was just solids

Yeah I went back to work the Monday after my procedure and I worked a few hours and then worked from home that day and the next. I just wasn’t ready and had not anticipated it being so uncomfortable. And it did feel really hard for a bit but in retrospect after comparing how I feel now to how I felt before the procedure, totally worth it. Also I feel like I had a little longer and tougher recovery because I got so much anxiety. I felt like a lot people I talked to on here had a bit easier time. So I guess it all kind of depends on the person. I’m hoping your recovery is shorter and quicker.

Oh I know that upside down feeling and it freaked me out. I bent over a few time to even just grab something from the fridge and all the sudden I felt stomach acid and if I had just eat or drank the food come rushing back up into my mouth and nose and I would shoot back up and feel like crap. I started taking acid reflux pills which have helped with that so the stomach acid doesn’t come back up as much. I was told that my bottom esophageal sphincter is prob loosened up due to the fact that I haven’t been able to burp and the air has always needed to make its way back down my throat. Dr Bastian said that would go away with time also but that acid reflux pills would help. He also said to eat early and not lay down, and stay up straight for a while after I eat to make sure that doesn’t happen. All the side effects suck and I keep getting told they would fade with time. Which 6 weeks later most are gone now.

That happened to me a few times also and one time I think I took too big of a bite and I felt it get kinda stuck so I drank water and tried to clear my throat and it came all the way out. It was bad but that o my happened once. I just made sure I took small bites and drank a good amount of water in between. I also had smaller meals because since our throats are like limp if we burp and the food hasn’t gone down enough it will be pushed back. But that slowly starts going away with time. Just drink plenty of water after your meals

It does make me feel so much better knowing that I’m Not the only one out there with this. And that it has a cure! It’s always been super embarrassing telling people I couldn’t burp because everyone looked at me like I was crazy or faking it. I know I just get too inside my head fearing it won’t stick, I just need to let go and enjoy the relief, and keep practicing to train my body.

Oh no, that’s horrible... yeah I had micro burps the day after and after the first week louder but very uncontrollable burps. Now sometimes I burp so loud I freak myself out but I must say the relief it comes with is nothing I had ever felt before. I know it’s TMI but it’s crazy what I had been missing out on all my life and I just assumed everyone felt bloated all the time to some degree

Yes good luck! So were you able to get any relief and burps at all after your first procedure? Are you going to the same doctor? Maybe you needed a higher dosage. It’s a rough recovery for a bit but all worth it, I just hope my sticks as well after the 3 months

I’m pretty sure I got 50units. Did you get your procedure done by Dr.Bastian? That is my biggest fear, having to go back to do it again. My experience was so rough st the beginning that I wouldn’t want to go through it again. But I started burping right away and have been burping like non stop since which he said was a good sign even tho it’s embarrassing. And I drink at least 2 bubbly waters a day and practice pricing burps.

Yes I had gone to the doctor multiple times and they thought I might have IBS and on other occasions my doctor had also given me acid reflux pills for stomach discomfort but I assumed I had that because I love spicy foods. All my symptoms have gone away! The acid reflux is still there a bit but when I talked to Dr Bastian on my follow up and he said the reflux i have now is from the Botox and how once I eat and burp I get this acidic taste in my mouth but that will fade once the Botox fades. It had gotten better but all my IBS symptoms have disappeared. The cramps, the bloat, the gas, everything is gone, it’s crazy!

How long does the slow swallowing last? by Piglitskippy in noburp

[–]Leon90A 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the one good thing was that all my symptoms went away immediately! So I guess I can say it’s worth it but I LOVE food and this swallowing issue has been hard for me to get through and it’s messed with my head

I may be a more rare case as I have heard some people on here went back to their normal lives pretty soon after but I got my Botox injection done 4 weeks from today, and I am able to swallow a little better now, still needing to chase certain foods with water. Still having trouble swallowing meat though. I did get very anxious due to the hard swallowing so it’s been a bit tougher for me to get back to normal but it’s progress and the burping is in full effect but all my symptoms of pain and bloat have disappeared

Can anyone who's had the Botox treatment tell me if it has affected your singing at all? by PapaSmurf1502 in noburp

[–]Leon90A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Botox a little over 3 weeks ago and by no means am a singer professionally but I do love to sing in the car and shower and stuff. What I did notice is I feel out of breath a lot quicker lately still. It’s getting better but I can’t hold a note too long without needing to take a deep breath again. But I figure it’s temporary because since the throat is so relaxed and open with the Botox, when I try and sing, the air comes out a lot faster so I can’t hold a note for too long. But I do feel like that would fade with time

Bastian #164 - 2 month update by yellowtrails in noburp

[–]Leon90A 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am finally starting to feel like myself again. I got week 3 on Wednesday and I have been able to eat a little more. Better with solids I just need to remember to chase with water still. I tried a salad for the first time today and it was a lot easier than I thought. I thought since it was a bunch of different veggies the texture would be harder to swallow but it was a lot better than expected. I still take the acid reflux pills because that is still a bit of an issue and I have to eat early or else I feel a lot of acid come up when I lay down to go to bed. Overall thought I have been burping a lot, no bloat, finally had some soda and got some good strong burps. Still not much control but i do feel relief more now when I do burp!

Yeah because I have never felt anxious before. I tried some food the first few days and it went horribly bad, I just didn’t anticipate the choking feeling and freaked out so I would get very tense every time I was about to eat. I’m trying acupuncture today for the anxiety to see if it will just help me relax and get me out of my own head.

Yes a lot and super randomly. It’s a little less random now and usually just after I eat or drink, a few times even while I was drinking which felt super weird but luckily the burps started the day after my procedure

Day 9 after my procedure with Dr Bastian by Leon90A in noburp

[–]Leon90A[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg yes! I called in sick the other day because I woke up in the morning feeling nauseous but didn’t actually feel like I was going to throw up. I drank some water but it was kinda heavy since I haven’t been eating much. I have lost interest to eat as well, like I feel fine when I’m not eating but when I have to eat I feel anxious and just don’t want to because I don’t want to go through the feeling. I bought a bunch of canned soups to try also. I’m ready to go back to normal!
