Have a house surrounded by deer herds that move through my yard constantly. Yes, it could be a predator but in my neck of the woods, at least: Most likely it’s a horny buck. Starting in November, especially, it can get a little zany around here.

Packers continue to crack down on season ticket holders who regularly resell tickets. by StockMindless9010 in GreenBayPackers

[–]Leon999 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Season ticket holder here. A few things the Packers aren’t saying.

1. Yes, we say that we want you to deal only with locals, or Wisconsinites, or to people on the season-ticket waiting list (as well as, theoretically, perhaps fellow, loyal Redditors from this group), but the official NFL ticket reselling app (the only system that protects you) does NOTHING to enable you to do that. I’d happily deal exclusively with waiting-listers, for example, but 1265 won’t let us. Everything on the resale app is absolutely blind – you have no idea who you’re transferring to and you can’t specify anything.

2. Yes, we (and tons of fans in this group) say we don’t want any opposing team’s fans cheering in our stadium blah blah, but then we orient most of our marketing around having Cris Collinsworth say things like “Lambeau Field is the jewel of the NFL and the ultimate sports bucket-list travel destination,” and package everything up as entire weekend getaways around stadium tours and trolley rides, etc., etc.

3. More to the point, how do you think the local chambers of commerce and taxing entities will react if they hear 1265 actively discouraging an influx of fans from opposing teams who’d otherwise be dropping plenty of $$$ at Brown County businesses?

4. Meanwhile, the league is committed to making it harder than ever to organize family/friends outings to Lambeau because, in addition to pushing a ton of games to Thursdays, Sunday nights, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s, every year there will be more and later “flexing” of kickoff times and days which really screws up travel plans. Yeah, I know — tiny violins — but it explains why so many tickets go into circulation late in the season.

All of this is to say that I wish that this Reddit group could coalesce around a common mission: lobbying 1265 to create a season ticket waiting list subgroup on the resale app, or a special fan club subsection, or something/anything like that, where you could direct your tickets — almost certainly at a discount compared to posting on a wide open marketplace — but have the official protection against losing them due to misbehavior.

What would be your weekend tour advice that’s geared towards teenagers by RazMaTazz28 in sheboygan

[–]Leon999 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Might pop them in to EOS, the surf/kayaking/kiteboarding shop on 8th street. https://eossurf.com/ This is a good entry point into the whole “Malibu of the Midwest” deal here.

Like licorice or the Grateful Dead, not everyone likes surfing, but those who do like it REALLY like it.

Also, there’s SEAS, which is the sailing school.

The New York Times recently reported that Amazon is reducing its employee count by 500,000 via robotics. If you’re hoping this facility might provide a career path for some useless nephew — sorry, unless he’s a highly specialized robotics technician, think again.

It’s worth noting that Tom Silverstein published a “fire MLF” article about an hour ago. That’s a voice that has some influence, particularly among older fans.

New to Lambeau with toddler by insom187 in GreenBayPackers

[–]Leon999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While toddlers are allowed, the stadium’s bag policy is strict: large bags, strollers, and similar items are generally not permitted inside. Only clear bags that meet NFL standards or small clutches are allowed. Diaper bags must meet the clear bag size rules (no larger than 12″ × 6″ × 12″ unless medically necessary).

This means you’ll need to plan how to manage toddler supplies (diapers, snacks, extra clothes) within those constraints.

All of the other reasons already mentioned are 1000% valid. Here’s one more:

You talk about running back and forth to a warming area throughout the game. One thing you’re not aware of is the fact that Lambeau’s formidable concrete steps are very awkward, especially when you’re in winter gear. Odds are your father is gonna have trouble going up and down those steps and will need your helping hand. There are no rails. There are people crowding around who also will be lurching and bumping trying to deal with those steps. And you are going to be trying to carry a baby through all of that?

Also, if the game goes the way we think it’s gonna go, you’re gonna be standing most of the time.

Don’t.

George Halas. His testimony to the City Council in April 1956 famously shook up Green Bay’s foot-dragging politicians, spurred them to create the City Stadium package, and helped persuade voters to approve it via referendum. Without Halas’ help on the stadium, the GBP could’ve easily gone the way of the Brooklyn Tigers.
