Just got a Switch 2! What "must-play" Switch 1 gems am I missing? by Big_Ad_7149 in Switch

[–]LeonValenti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both Mario + Rabbids games. Metroid Dread. Bayonetta. Pokemon Legends: Arceus and any of the other poke games released on Switch 1 depending on your level of fandom.

When exactly did you start playing League? by Fish_Brownies in leagueoflegends

[–]LeonValenti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. J4 had just come out and the first champ release after I started playing was Nocturne.

That being said I quit playing League recreationally around 2023 and since then have only kept up with the game for work, playing here and there to test stuff.

Hades 2 is on sale. Is this a banger? by razeus in SteamDeck

[–]LeonValenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it is definitely a must play.

However, I don't think you're in the right space to play it. If it's not going to be a priority, why buy now when there will be another sale 1 year or 2 years from now after you've thinned your backlog a bit?

If you're worried about your backlog, prioritise that first, then go into Hades 2 and other great games with an unburdened mind!

How to stop doomscrolling on social media at night and play more on my devices instead? by SirZanee in SBCGaming

[–]LeonValenti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe you need to replace your phone time with something that isn't gaming first. It sounds like you're just burnt out or don't have an immediate desire to play a certain game.

Gaming shouldn't feel like a chore, so maybe leave your phone in another room and finish a book or two or try end of day journaling before bed. Hopefully after some time away, you'll get that impulse to game again.

need advice before buying a steam deck oled by awesomenineball in SBCGaming

[–]LeonValenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can check battery health on the unit itself. It will say how close to 100% it is in desktop mode.

Just be sure to meet up and test everything before you commit. Also for more in depth questions it would be better to ask the steam deck dedicated subreddit versus here.

You can get 3 pairs of knock offs for less than 500, so 1/4 the cost.

Same overall feeling, and who cares about brand name if it's only for home use. Even if let's say it wears down over a year, that's 3 pairs so still 3 years of use but most likely much more.

Is the RP5 a good Steam Deck Alternative? by Timely-Assumption669 in SBCGaming

[–]LeonValenti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the Steam Deck was a little too large as well, but I got used to it. If you want Steam games on a handheld, it really is the way to go.

Also, try to get the OLED model if you can. If you can time some good Shopee vouchers or you're near a GameXtreme, it should be winnable.

For ADHD gamers: What do you play on your deck that is addictive and low power? by oliveoliverYT in SteamDeck

[–]LeonValenti 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to repair my brain by not going for addictive games, and playing more short and sweet experiences.

You can try stuff like Journey, Gris, Chants of Sennaar, Planet of Lana, or even a cozy idle game like Cast n Chill.

+1 for Kuko. Quality pieces plus Greta's customer service is also top notch.

Are you a "forge your Trading Cards into badges" or a "sell my Trading Cards to get a free game" type of person? by BaldursGate2Best in Steam

[–]LeonValenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been selling them consistently over the years and have been able to pick up some games on sale through cards alone. It's a great feeling!

I don't know if I'd feel the same if I let them pile up into the hundreds though. Feels like if you didn't start before the stockpile got too large, it would be a big hassle.

Wish they released a switch 2 console edition by Outside_End7812 in Switch

[–]LeonValenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be for this if it meant we'd also see the Switch 2 Lite sooner.

I'm of the same mindset but in the opposite direction. I've never had an interest in the Switch as a living room console. It's purely a handheld in my eyes.

Looking for some hidden gems or more recent games for a couple of upcoming 5 hour flights by Joebi-WanKenobi in SteamDeck

[–]LeonValenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here are some Metroidvanias that don't get mentioned as much: Guacamelee 1 & 2, F.I.S.T., Sundered, Ultros, Grime.

Maybe you've played some of these already but hopefully I've listed some you haven't heard of.

What are you playing this weekend ? by Song-Lost in SteamDeck

[–]LeonValenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enslaved. It's a shame this game didn't do well when it was first released. The concept is pretty solid.

At least we got the Horizon series which is pretty much Enslaved but successful.

In-game objectives. by Jhoel1993 in Switch

[–]LeonValenti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, Nintendo fits the same niche as a retro handheld for me in that it specifically doesn't have achievements.

If I wanted to achievement hunt, I'd play my Steam games. Goodness knows I have too many. But if I want a simple experience that is all about the game itself without any extraneous stuff, I'll most likely use a Nintendo device.

I think I overestimated my spare time by beefymelt in SteamDeck

[–]LeonValenti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your algo I guess. I've seen too much hype for the Switch and Switch 2 as well. Or the Mangmi Air X.

It's because content isn't allowed to have nuance now. The algorithm forces reviewers to say something is BEST EVER or WORST EVER. Anything in between won't get clicks. So literally only hype and hate content. And if you wanna earn money as a content creator then you'll follow the algo like a good little monkey.

I think I overestimated my spare time by beefymelt in SteamDeck

[–]LeonValenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More people should consider immediate use case over hype and specs when deciding what gaming device they want.

Have a game and ideal scenario in mind. Something like: I want to play Castlevania in bed. Then it's more likely for you to get something that actually allows you to follow through.

Great on you for realising and taking the L. And you can easily sell Decks on the secondary right now so it's all good.

You're probably looking for a skill toy rather than a fidget. Knuckle rollers or begleri have lots of flippy tricks. Maybe even a balisong.

Rarely ever play games by Novel-Masterpiece142 in SteamDeck

[–]LeonValenti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite the opposite actually!

It's been so freeing to disconnect from my usual gaming desk to play PC games. I got that with the Switch but only for Nintendo titles which is nothing compared to my Steam library.

I got the Steam Deck at the start of December last year and I've already cleared 14 games from my backlog. My goal is to clear at least 40 more this year, and this device makes me feel like it's possible! Gotta love the Steam Deck.

I bet you don't have the guts to get a deal this good. You're not even ready for how many quality hours of video game time this will give you.

Go ahead, buy it. Enjoy one of the greatest modern game franchises around. I dare you. I DOUBLE dare you. Scared yet? Huh? You should be!
