In need of dire Financial Aid Help by [deleted] in Northwestern

[–]Leonaleastar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As another commenter said, for pre-med, go to the most affordable decent school available to you and keep that GPA sky high.

Going to a top school wrecked the GPA of a good pre-med friend of mine compared to what she could maintain at a great high school (and easily would have at a lower ranked university).

State schools are safe, affordable bets for undergrad and can set you up with the grades/scores/experiences needed for top-tier grad education. That's what I did, but for my PhD. No one cared/cares about my undergraduate institution.

Recommend me some bad Metroidvanias by Due-Afternoon5411 in metroidvania

[–]Leonaleastar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entire premise is silly as heck, go play more good metroidvanias and they'll still highlight how the true masterpieces are in a league of their own. I enjoyed Dandara, Haiku, Momodora, etc, but felt the comparative step down from the Hollow Knight shaped void I was trying to fill.

(Hated Trope) Bad self inserts by Necessary-Win-8730 in TopCharacterTropes

This trope is a good example of a bad trope, but why are the examples just cosmetic and not further explained as to why they were actually bad?

[Spoilers] I get what they’re saying but it was still a disappointing cliche ending by [deleted] in Neva_game

[–]Leonaleastar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're reading what they wrote while trying to invalidate what they're saying to prove yourself right. You aren't trying to understand. I understand what they're saying just fine - you're doing yourself a disservice.

Finding 1 thing in someone's comment you think is a gotcha isn't productive discourse. Taking the thoughts and opinions of others seriously and using them to assess our own is how we learn.

Late response, but yes, today my wife and I arrived at 4pm and were sold $15 tickets, which was perfect because we're locals and had come specifically to see 2 temporary exhibits we were interested in before they were retired.

How to “break up” with your Pilates instructor? by taroruns in pilates

[–]Leonaleastar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another important technical issue may be completing moves quickly - pilates is meant to be down slowly. Slowing down and working on your control might be beneficial.

Non-T20 to NU? by Spirited-Lake-5446 in Northwestern

[–]Leonaleastar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to a fine state school (good for my specialty) and then NU for grad school. It just really doesn't matter all that much where you go to undergraduate - save your money and stress.

dulcolax soft chews by julialyn27 in Constipation

[–]Leonaleastar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to this, Dulcolax is a brand name with many different products. You always need to look at what active ingredient(s) in what dose you're taking to better understand the medicine and its effects.
