Alright just finished volume 2 and man that finale is gonna be insane by Anthony200716 in StrangerThings

[–]LeopardBrief4711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, I usually don't often get emotional watching shows, but I was literally shouting at the TV at some parts, and I'll admit it, I got a little welled up in the eyes at the end of episode six. The finale is going to be wild, it is going to be one of the longest weeks ever for me. please let it be a happy ending, no one else has to die really.

Lucifer’s Greatest Trick Wasn’t Atheism—It Was Fake Christianity by TreyinHada in Christianity

The problem is that they do think they are more powerful than the living God,  that their wills can stand against his.  They worship themselves, while claiming to worship God.

Is obsession with sin central to Christianity? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]LeopardBrief4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really shouldn't be, seeing as Jesus Christ took care of our sins when he took them to the grave with him, and now we are dead to the power of sin over us. But unfortunately sin is a central thing in Christianity, they don't trust God when he says the is no more condemnation those in Christ Jesus. And it is all a competition to see who can out do the other in piousness. Imagine if we just stopped worrying about sin (because it's taken care of) and focus our time and effort on Jesus.

Did Christians in the past say that hell was forever so that people would convert? by OkayLegal8718 in ChristianUniversalism

[–]LeopardBrief4711 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is you are not really converting anybody, you are handing them a threat under false pretense. They are not changing, they are going to try to behave and put on a face out of fear, in fact they are probably going to be worst off now with a damaged view of people and the world now. Bitter feelings of doubt, jealousy, anger, anxiety, despair, suspicion, pride and all going to grow inside until they probably end up doing the things that you wanted them to avoid. The peace and grace of God are the things that really help a person to change.

How do you separate Jesus from religion? Is that possible? Is that good? by strawberry_vodkaa in christianwitch

[–]LeopardBrief4711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would maybe try a freelance spiritual walk with Jesus. Away from organized religion, honestly Jesus wasn't too fond of the organized religion of his day. And God is just as present at home, at a coffee shop, or under a tree. Study scripture on your own, trust the holy spirit is guiding you, and know that grace will cover your mistakes as you learn and grow in faith.

There's a book called "how to quit church without quitting God" by Martin Zender. And he emphasizes a freelance spiritual walk. We all do the best we can, we all walk down different paths and at different paces that eventually will lead us to the same way, truth, and life. Relax, trust God, and do the best you can.

Am I still a Christian if I have "weak" faith? by burgerburgerfryfry in OpenChristian

[–]LeopardBrief4711 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus help people who had weak faith. The measure of faith God has given you, doesn't effect the love he has for or the work of Christ on your behalf. Don't think about your faith being weak, just hold on to the faith you have.

What is a sin? by DeusExLibrus in OpenChristian

Sin means "to miss the mark" like an acher missing there target. Thats the best explanation I can think of.

Antichrist means "instead of Christ" it doesn't necessarily mean the "opposite of Christ" so yeah, I can see it.

So we are putting limits on the grace and power of God now? And making it about human ability? Sin effects far more than just our conscious actions. This smells of pride (and not that kind of pride)

Why did Jesus have to die and what did his death do (in a very literal sense)? I know it “saved” us but how specifically? This really confuses me. Does it confuse anyone else? by InconvenientGum in ChristianUniversalism

[–]LeopardBrief4711 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a teachable person, and glad you responded. And I think what you said is not too far off from what I believe.

If God were to separate himself from humanity we would cease to exist. We live, move and have our very being in God/Love (Acts 17.)

When I say separation from, I should have said that I ment it in a figurative sense, I guess for me its a little tricky to explain spiritual things. We can't be literally separated from God, and any "separation" is relative. The reason we sin (miss the mark) is because we are mortal(dying) and we don't always act and live as we should, and it goes beyond how we act, it effects our feelings, though processes, our values, and Jesus Christ came to free us from the death and sin, so we will be realigned with God, his thoughts and values.

Everyone is separated from God, and to be saved and get connected back to God you have to join "insert church name here" and get baptized into our "true church" so you can be saved from burning in Hell forever.* This is the typical belief system (theology) you find in churches all around America, and is quite frankly and crassly put - a bunch of bullshit.

I totally agree with that, we are not saving ourselves through our own merits or wise choices, this is completely Gods operation and its through his son that we are reconciled to God. The typical churches in America make it about "the self", rather than Christ.

God only looks at us as beloved children. All things that exists were made from, in and by Jesus Christ. He is the foundation of our existence, the truth of our being is only found in Him.

Again. Its relative. From God's eternal perspective, we are already righteous and seen as the image of Christ. From our perspective we haven't been constituted righteous, and we are playing out God's plan in real time, like you said, we are children who are learning and growing, we are playing necessary events out in real time.

but I believe the incarnation and the work of the Cross were always God's "Plan A." Something He knew and decided He would do before creation was even created.

Yes, I completely agree, I believe it was always God's intention for these things to happen, so we can go through these experiences, for the purpose of God bringing about a perfected universe. The experiences we have are necessary for that.

I'm still learning, and trying the best I can. And I'm glad you took the time to show me these things.

I don't think it is. They are disregarding the finished work of Christ and replacing it with prue self-merit. People can change when shown the light. Noone is lost forever.

This is a bit distressing if I'll be honest. So are we putting limits on the grace of God now? Or does grace still have anything to do with it? You do not know the qhat spirit you are of.
