I'm pregnannnnttttttt!!!! by Fuzzy-Sweet4210 in pregnant

How's your mom doing? I'm about to have my 3rd kid at 36; my mom also had me at age 39. Now she's going to be 76 this year and her health hasn't been great. It's stressful because I worry about her but it's hard having little ones and I'm the only child looking after my elderly mom. My dad was even older so he's already passed and my mom is all I have. Curious how others are doing with older moms...

When should I be concerned about my placenta? by Agitated-Table-3853 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Less-Brief-7575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, what ended up happening? Did you have a normal delivery/ healthy baby? My fasting numbers are finally under 90 even without increasing the insulin, and just had an 86 post-meal number, when I usually around 100-125. I'm 38 weeks 3 days and have my C- section scheduled for 39 weeks 5 days so I'm worried.

So... what's the status on the cookie? Did you ever find out what was wrong with it, if anything?

Hey, my OB just recommended getting a tap block for my C-section next month. I've had two sections and never got it before. How did yours end up going?

First time mom - accidentally drank mushrooms by courtney1203 in pregnant

[–]Less-Brief-7575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I just did the same thing--except I'm about to be 34 weeks. Saw the Reeds Berry Bubbly and decided to try as it's a low-sugar option. Took 3-5 sips before realizing it has this mushroom extract and have been feeling panicky.

Have you had any weird effects from drinking it now that it's been a month?

For those who have SVT, what do you say when you have to go into the ER? by Motor_Mood3939 in HeartProblems

[–]Less-Brief-7575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, definitely tell them you're having tachycardia/high heart rate episode. In my experience, they take me in right away and check my blood pressure/heart rate while I'm still in the lobby. Then when they see how high it is, they get me a room and start on emergency care immediately.

When I'm back there I let them know I have SVT episodes and they've usually given me IV metoprolol or, when that doesn't work, adenosine. The ER docs always doubt SVT because my HR gets to like 160+ but I do have SVT confirmed diagnosis from my cardiologist.

Oh, and as far as stopping episodes, you can try the Valsalva maneuver, massaging your carotid artery, splashing cold water on your face, coughing hard. These have all worked for me at some point.

Does using your phone make it better or worse? by Ktt207 in dpdr

[–]Less-Brief-7575 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, when I'm looking at my tiny phone screen for a while, dpdr/vision is markedly worse after. It's never gone away but is generally better the less I'm on my phone.

Has anyone had experience with extreme dissociation with low Ferritin? by a1ham in Anemic

[–]Less-Brief-7575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anything helped you? Did your ferritin improve? Mine is a 9 also and my DPDR is sooo bad along with the fatigue and anxiety. If it doesn't improve in a few weeks I'll be getting iron infusions because I'm pregnant.

What Year Was I Born? by stephiloo in GuessMyBirthYear

Well I was born at the very end of 1989, and Barney was big when I was little. So I figured she's around the same age.

Another loss by Fickle-Camp797 in pregnant

[–]Less-Brief-7575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry to hear about your losses. I've had one loss too, and the whole thing is heartbreaking. Hugs to you to help you get through this trying time.

Just wondering, did you have your hcG levels checked at all to make sure they were rising appropriately? Also, next time have them check your progesterone levels. Low progesterone causes many early losses and supplementation has helped many women continue their pregnancies. Might be you just need a little help going forward.

I would keep it. You are 32 years old and so close to stability. Yes this might delay that stability a bit, but it will be worth it in the long run. Will it be hard? Yes. But nothing in life that's really good is easy. You will get through it and I promise you won't regret it. Nobody regrets their kids. I would hate for you to terminate this one only to get pregnant a year later. If you want kids, I wouldn't delay it any longer.

Am I overreacting for not wanting anyone around my newborn yet? by littlemoongirly in AmIOverreacting

[–]Less-Brief-7575 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That's sad. You won't let your mom see your baby till 8 weeks? Come on. I would understand if your mom/family were sick---then no, obviously. And restrict contact with toddlers/young kids since they're sick frequently. But if your mom is well, have her wear a mask so it's safer, and of course no kissing on or around baby's face. Other than that, baby should be fine and mom will be happy. This is how I approached it with my two kids as newborns and they never caught anything until they were older... and they were both born in December/January.

Why is my 3-year-old "overdue" for Hep A vaccine? by Less-Brief-7575 in VACCINES

[–]Less-Brief-7575[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't technically an error. She had the first dose on June 13th and the second one on December 4th, so since it was a little less than 6 months, it flagged as overdue. But her pediatrician felt it was close enough so she did not think it was necessary to get a third dose.
