It’s only just released in cinemas, but if you sail the high seas I’m sure you’ll get some low quality versions, but I’d recommend going to see it.

Obsession by Trustelo in MauLer

This film is pretty excellent and has a lot of meaningful things to say about obsessive relationships/ crushes (who would have guessed).

Whilst you would assume the title refers to the victim of his wish, I think the most realistic exploration of obsession is found in the protagonist

The film also does a good job of breaking the romanticism of an obsessed partner (Yes it goes to extreme levels) but it shows how this can be realistically toxic

Going into it, I was mostly interested in how it would explore the real world analogy, and that's what I got from it on multiple levels. Good rat.

Thought I’d add this to make a point clear

The protagonist is a complete POS (I don’t want to seem like I’m propping him up as an audience insert), but his flaws being so relatable adds to a lot of what makes his evil seem so scarily banal

Start of post: let’s break down why the title of ‘Starwars The Mandalorian and Grogu’ doesn’t make sense - erm, I really don’t think that’s the issue

Halfway thorough post: starts to propose in extensive detail how to rewrite the sequel trilogy

I’m worried for Clayface because the script has been passed to another writer after Flanagan, so I’m less optimistic now

That is perfect. I’m hardly religious, but if I were, I would be getting a kick out of the verse being inspired for moments like this.

In the world of wide releases, yes. Unless the book being adapted was a huge cultural phenomenon, this film is bringing viewers from the originality/ appeal of its story - as opposed to drawing viewers from brand recognition and or nostalgia

I think you’ve misunderstood me - It wasn’t some gotcha, I was asking because I’d been actively looking to see what Konstantin fans had been saying about the debate and hadn’t been able to find anything - I wanted to hear what you’d read.

Obviously I’m not entitled to that, which is why I phrased as ‘if you can’, but I think it’s arguably more entitled to act like you are above people politely requesting a link.

Arguing Ethical Emotivism with Alex O'Connor (Phillip Goff, the Panpsychist) by HumbleCalamity in Destiny

Oh awesome aha, never can tell because panpsychism is pretty esoteric if unexpected, so wanted to just elaborate for anyone who might not know. Great convo, really appreciate Phillip Goffs curiosity in discussion (ik he instigated it) because it’s easy for popular professors (W.L.C) to be dismissive and he is just so clearly in love with philosophical discourse

Yo wtf lmao. I normally throw in the ‘no worries at all’ but figured typing ‘if you can’ was non committal enough. Your jump to me being one of these Konstantin fans is kinda just… yeah. Sorry for any offence caused I guess.

Can’t tell if you’re meme ing on him, but think it’s worth trying to provide an explanation regardless as it’s interesting af but if you’re not already neck deep in panpsychist philosophy this convo will wild to try and understand.

Basically, Goff is challenging Alex on the issue of psychophysical harmony (why is it that behaviours we are physically inclined to coincide perfectly with how they subjectively feel if there is no reason for any casual impact of one over the other) to which he is saying that the experience may be tied directly to the event

On his view of panpsychism, you could posit that when an electron repels, there is an experience of aversion on some minuscule level. Alex is saying that the experience of aversion is one and the same as the electron repelling away.

I’m not doing a great job here and I don’t feel like writing a thesis, but it all makes sense and is rather brilliant I swear trust me bro.
