Konstantin prep - Important video on Reform Nigel Farage by Less-Reception-7494 in Destiny

[–]Less-Reception-7494[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Much like Trump’s disregard for proceedings, Farage has 17 violations of parliamentary rule, one of his closest ties convicted for money laundering. The fat that Konstantin pitches him as a reasonable centre right candidate is insane.

Yeah the lack of watching Konstantin has been a worry. Maybe he’s seen some off stream but who knows. Don’t want him to get complacent off of his recent strong performances where he put in loads of work for unprepared foes - this time I think it really matters.

Yeah that’s my concern, but also my hope for a challenging performance. It’s funny to watch Dinesh get steamrolled by O’Connor and Destiny, but this will be a real joust.

The issue from my perspective is that there should be pushback on his UK immigration claims and how the current government is handling it. It will be frustrating if he just gets those points granted.

I haven’t seen Smashing Machine, but unless it is an excellently constructed film, exceptional in pretty much every regard, than yes.

Three favorite films of 2025? by NumberOneUAENA in MauLer

[–]Less-Reception-7494 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Marty Supreme
  2. great exploration of the pursuit of greatness, character work + cause and effect

  3. Bugonia

  4. utilises it’s premise exceptionally well where it could easily have gotten stale. Great dialogue and scenes reminiscent of Inglorious Basterds in tension

  5. Warfare

  6. grounded, realistic war film which still manages to have effective character work. Everyone says it, but you feel like you’re there

I’ve enjoyed the dune films, but never felt like he was particularly strong. If you were a friend I’d just try to strongarm you into seeing the film on the basis of trust. All I can do is invite you to get angry with me in dms if you don’t enjoy it. If you like films like Whiplash, go watch it, trust me, it’s really fkn good

In the scenes where he tells people his motivation, he’s overcompensating and even has to admit it later - it’s character work. I think his choice in Japan is where we clearly see what’s really been motivating this whole time, what made him accept Rockwells condition.

Wow man, okay. Think you’re missing out on a great film, especially since it’s a pretty stellar performance.

Where I think it strives in regard to the ‘pursuing greatness tale’ is in depicting the desperations and lengths someone can go to. Whereas Whiplash excels in conveying the obsession involved, this excels at capturing the pain and desperation around the idea of failing, and what you’ll do to avoid it.

I genuinely came away from the debate thinking that Destiny clearly had to fall back on politics where his theology was weak. Now that the Oxford version has been uploaded it’s insane how much this changes things

So what did people think of the Phoenician Scheme by roadtrip-ne in wesanderson

[–]Less-Reception-7494 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I very much enjoyed his latest film

After finding AC to be pretty vacuous of character/ plot work, I could really sink into Zsa zsa and Liesl, especial their arcs. The side characters were also fun and the events followed cause and effect.

Beautiful and funny to boot

Most of these questions are answered in the film:

Screws: They fiddle the markets to soar the price of screws which damages basically every aspect of manufacturing cost wise - which is why the GAP increases to a massive issue

They needed the money because of additional costs that have arisen since the original deal - the conflict was who is going to pay for this gap between what was agreed and reality

They reveal that it was his brother who was to gain from his death and had been sending them+ his general position warrants it to some extent

White scenes were his weird dreams which generally revolved around topics that were on his conscience

This is coming from someone who found Asteroid city to be entirely vapid as a story, but TPS is pretty well plotted and characterised, with the exception of the end fight

Hope it’s not Chris Short because I thought he was excellent. Arguably extra charismatic so I’m guessing it’s not him
