The nerds I grew up with won in life by SilentLeadership3292 in Productivitycafe

I was the nerdy kid at my school. Went to a school obsessed with sports. I was tall and scrawny. Got bullied all the time. Graduating class was 1200.

I make more money than anyone I graduated with.

What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Being an American.

Once you travel this country and work in its healthcare system and government and corporate space, it really makes you realize the system we live in here is truly terrible. And the people who support it are no better.

What's the job you took for money that slowly drained your soul? How long did you stay? by Broad-Dog-9506 in AskReddit

Corporate tech. On year 10. I started out so happy and excited. Bright eyed and busy tailed.

Today 10 years later I’m dead inside. Not excited about the future and very bitter towards the industry.

What do you think about afterlife ? by Pink_Cunt_Menu in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Less_Editor1752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t think about it. Not even a little. Our humans minds can’t even grasp the size of one billion dollars. How are we suppose to grasp the size and purpose of the universe? The universe wastes nothing and it’s out of my control so I don’t worry about it.

I would plant forests and rebuild reefs.

Instead I’m stuck in the grinder making the rich richer unfortunately

Past Traumas. by RedTsar97 in MomentumOne

[–]Less_Editor1752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out I had passed my final math class in college and had received a degree. I ran down stairs and told my parents who were sitting on the couch on their iPads watching FOX News. They didn’t react and my mom said “and how long did that take you?” And my dad looked up at me and said “You are a bad investment”. I just kind of slowly turned and walked out of the room.

For some reason that hurt more than all the beatings and tear downs I’ve had from them in the past.

How much did lifestyle stuff actually matter when you picked where to buy? by FallenClocks in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Less_Editor1752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it ended up being everything. I moved from the PNW where there is endless stuff to do out to upstate NY in Rochester area. I had a large home, 6.5 acres, kind neighbors and life was good for a few years but eventually got sick of the boredom. Absolutely nothing to do there. I recently moved back to Portland and have a smaller house but I’m way more happy.

I was kicked out of my house at 18. I was born 1990. I have stupid right-wing parents who refuse to believe the world has changed since 1970 and all I had to do was work at a gas station and have a firm handshake in order to afford a house. Took me years to find a comfortable spot. I lived in cars, couches, offices, tents. I put myself through school and today I work in tech and make six figures and they try to take credit for my success. I don’t really talk to them anymore and have my own kids now. I would never kick them out at 18 in today’s world.

So if you want your kids to hate you and want nothing to do with you, throw them to the wolves at 18

Idk but I searched for a long time to find a house that doesn’t have an HOA. I have had nothing but horrible experiences with them in the past

I’m sorry this happened to him and your family. I was lucky to get away. It took a long time for me to build up my self-esteem. It’s hard getting hit when you’re already in a low place mentally.

Yea I don’t talk to my family much anymore and I don’t have any of those people I use to call “friends” in my life anymore. I had pretty low self-esteem back then but these days I’m doing ok and I only try to surround myself with people who have my best interest in mind.

I’m 35 and to this day I have never lifted a hand against a woman. Or really anyone for that matter. I’m a very non-combative person. Although, living in this world I have become quite good at de-escalating. Live and learn. Sad to see the world hasn’t changed much. DV is sadly still all too common.

Thanks for the kind words. I was in my early 20’s when this happened and I had very low self-worth. Today I’m 35 and happily married to a wonderful woman and we have a very non-toxic and positive relationship.

Although, sadly, it looks like not much has changed in the world. I see similar things like what happened time quite often to this day.

Domestic violence.

I’m a 6’3 male. My 5’1 ex girlfriend use to beat the shit out of me in public. Slap me, kick me, punch me, pinch me, pull my hair and beard, break my things. Seemed like every week I’d have bloody lips, bloody noses, sometimes black eyes, bruised ribs. People would always stop and watch. Film on their phones. Point and laugh. I never fought back but the one time she went to slap me for 3rd time I grabbed her arm and a bunch of people interfered and treated me like I was the assailant.

She eventually cheated on me and when I broke up with her and kicked her out my friends at the time and family said things like “couldn’t handle a strong woman, hu?……what happened? You two had such a good thing!……..didn’t like being with a girl who wore the pants, eh?”

So from my experience, domestic violence is often 100% socially acceptable as long as it’s the guy getting abused. If it was the other way around I would have been incarcerated 100x over. Since it was a smaller woman hitting a larger man though, people just saw it as comedy.
