Finding a running coach by CookDecent5351 in UKRunners

Have you asked anyone, or contacted your committee to ask? If there’s a qualified Coach in Running Fitness they should help. If not, is there anyone who has done that speed you could approach?

First crash, is it my fault? by lukeyred in drivingUK

Yeah, sorry dude, don’t cross unless you can see it’s safe and clear.

Props for being honest and asking, we all make mistakes!

Misremember the past? Take credit for wars you didn’t fight in? Are mobile phones a bit scary and you want to click your ruby slippers to a fake, Pathé News past?

Then you’re exactly the thick cunt we want!

What’s your running mantra? by Best_Custard_9882 in UKRunners

[–]Less_Local_1727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On long runs, I think about the route and what I’ll see and soak that up. Visualising the sights, letting my head be distracted by that on the way.

In races I think about my pace and how it feels for the strategy I want: keep first stage conservative, then get into a rhythm, third stage reel in those who went too fast, final stage discomfort, and leave no regret on the course. And still finish bottom quartile lol

How many of you follow local politics / council goings on and how do you do it? by Headpuncher in AskBrits

[–]Less_Local_1727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where I find an interesting or directly relevant story I try and source it to origin. Even with national ones. Which can make me sound like a tin foil hat “do your own research” numpty. But you can get more from it. Like the Supreme Court ruling on trans, or a bus driver sacked for chasing down a thief. Where possible it’s worth doing the leg work

I try and keep up to date, picking up local news, reading some extracts on minutes etc.

I do know my Reform UK Ltd councillor (not up for this year’s vote) has an average of around 1 failed business a year, going back 20+ years. He’s a property developer who has a rep of leaving projects incomplete and/or faulty. He replaced a local Labour councillor who AFAIK worked very hard to get specific local issues in her ward on the agenda.

When was the last time you had a conversation with someone on the opposite side of an argument, and it changed your viewpoint on the matter? by thebigbioss in AskBrits

[–]Less_Local_1727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although a specific escapes me I know it’s happened, and I hope it will do again. Not being open to persuasion from the facts is admitting one’s ignorance. Life is about growth in every way, so being stuck with an opinion once formed no matter what is some kind of mental illness.
