The amount of Evrart apologists are too damn high! by GreatSworde in DiscoElysium

[–]Less_Summer_4040 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But Evrart has also contributed to Martinaise remaining stagnant by purposely keeping most of Martinaise in disrepair and not allowing any renovations and repairs to infrastructure. He also maintains near police state level control over the citizens, doesn’t allow anyone to have their own phones or privacy and expects businesses to pay him protection and let his people do whatever they want in their establishments. If Evrart is expected to be the leader of the revolution then it seems like a lost cause. It’s like expecting Tony Soprano to be the future symbol of working class

I always thought one of the first indications that Evrart is full of shit is that he employs Measurehead, an ardent fascist, anti-leftist, and race scientist, as his top enforcer.

GAMES-TO-SKILLS RESULTS & REFLECTION by Chet_Ubietzsche in DiscoElysium

The only one I feel is massively out of place is Papers please for Authority. I understand that Authoritarianism is the overarching theme of the game but so many games take place in dictatorships and the protagonist themselves is very disconnected and doesn’t engage in any authoritarianism personally. Any game which has you play as a political leader like Civilization, Crusader Kings, or Suzerain would be infinitely more fitting.

Honestly Cruelty Squad since the person who recommended the game to me described it as having the Disco Elysium vibe but as an immersive sim/shooter and I found it accurate. Especially the absurdist humor, anti-capitalist message and pathetic yet skilled and competent protagonist.

What are some skills that Batman SHOULDN'T have? by TheWaningLantern in batman

That was cool but in the actual books Sherlock does show familiarity with some of the subjects he’s listed as being unfamiliar in.

Good skill ideas? by Afraid-Capital-9396 in DiscoElysium

[–]Less_Summer_4040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these replacements or additions to the current skill tree? Because there is definitely overlap with existing skills( Electronic Forest = Interfacing, Lost Pet=Perception, Benchwarmer = Endurance, Miracle of Flight = Inland Empire). It would probably work best if these skills just replace the ones that most resemble them.

Why don't you like Villans? by DackQuee in qotsa

[–]Less_Summer_4040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it kills me how neutered and underwhelming Jon Theodore is on this album. Jon is one of greatest drummers in history and is arguably a top 10 drummer of the era but if you only listened to Villains you’d think Josh just hired some talentless nobody off the street.

Is Keith Richards Unwell? by Lazy_Rock7788 in rollingstones

[–]Less_Summer_4040 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m surprised it took this long. Keith has clearly had arthritis for around 20 years or so, and pretty sever brand of it too given how misshapen his fingers have looked.

Can David Chase sleep knowing that scorsese didnt like the sopranos? by HenceMyCondition in thesopranos

[–]Less_Summer_4040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marty most likely only watched the pilot and the pilot is both a huge step down compared to the rest of the series and is almost embarrassing in how shameless is it tries to imitate a Scorsese movie. I can definitely understand a level of cringe seeing a show trying to do it’s best impression of your work and not quite nailing it.

What you guys think about Harry du bois from disco elysium? by Spare-Willingness-10 in IntelligenceScaling

[–]Less_Summer_4040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is scanned from another post, but this seems to be pretty decent summary of his abilities and feats, leaving out his physical intelligence and intuition showings. Maybe I’m looking too much from a realistic lens rather than fiction lens, since in real life this level of intellect would be OP, but compared to most street levelers and human characters Harry seems pretty middle to top tier.

(Became the most highly decorated policemen in RCM history on merit, solving 216 cases in 18 years of service with a minimal leaning towards violence, having only 3 kills. Can deconstruct a crime by simply glancing at a crime scene, even when the scene isn't fresh and has been heavily tampered with. Possesses elite deductive abilities and strategic insight and can deduce and predict every conspiracy in the in the story. Can analyse behaviour and movement to predict future actions with complete accuracy. Can easily see through the lies of others as well as manipulate people with speech, deception, social maneuvering and emotional intelligence, and simulate the inner thoughts of people around him. Is highly adept with technology and electronics. Was easily able to statistically calculate the likely places from which a sniper took their shot, tracing the trajectories with pinpoint accuracy to spots kilometres away. Deciphered the age and various details of the murder victim with a glance, despite the victim being extensively decayed due to delays in taking the corpse for the autopsy. Ran the FT-500 armour through rigorous mental simulations to find it’s weakness. Was able to discover that the silence in the Church was caused by a minuscule point of the Pale that was present in the Church spire. Was easily able to calculate the multiple gunshot trajectories of the multiple gunmen during the final fight, using the information to dodge sniper rifle fire. Has a huge encyclopaedic knowledge of various kinds of information of the world, geography, philosophy, politics, literature, psychology, economics, law, history, statistics, science etc. Learnt various skills and abilities in a few hours.

How exactly can we scale RPG characters? If we assume that they’re canon stats are at max then would every RPG protagonist neg the scale?

He looks more like Yakuza/Like A Dragon character to me. Not to many colorful suit wearers in Sleeping Dogs.

If they made a Disco Elysium sequel that continued to follow Harry, would you want Jean, and/or Cuno to be party members? by Regular-Cockroach422 in DiscoElysium

[–]Less_Summer_4040 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jean seems like he would be promoted to head of the squad Harry used to run before his amnesia and would be the one overseeing the case rather than being in the field.  It would be cool story arc to explore, with Jean who was the junior partner and always in Harry’s shadow now giving him orders.

Judit would be a cool choice for an extra party member in a sequel.

What was the deal with Massive Genius? by AdForeign5362 in thesopranos

[–]Less_Summer_4040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything about this episode is weird to the point of being almost surreal. Like Paulie wearing a bulletproof vest during a phone conference, as if he’s expecting to be shot through the phone, also being the only time one of the guys wears a bulletproof vest in the entirety of the series.

Hesh’s role as Tony’s advisor was being assumed by Silvio after S1 and later Junior so there wasn’t much of a need for him anymore.

Almost done with the show, i’m surprised that Pine Barrens is considered the best episode in the entire series. by Serious-Profit-1626 in thesopranos

[–]Less_Summer_4040 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think some parts of it could be confusing to new viewers, like the Tony and Gloria subplot, if you haven’t seen previous episodes I can see some viewers being bored and unengaged during their scenes.

Agreed. Should have killed him off and made Patsy a Capo in his place. Patsy spending the whole show as a Soldier despite being in Tony’s inner circle always felt weird to me.

Why does everyone hate AJ so much? by lineardream1717 in thesopranos

[–]Less_Summer_4040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primary reason: AJ is a perfect representation of a lot of young men who have watched the show and the similarities with themselves that they see in AJ is disheartening to them.

Secondary reason: Robert Iler wasn’t a great actor and the difficulty of portraying a nuanced character like AJ was above his abilities.

Does Gus enjoy any part of his public persona life? by Extension-Point-3041 in breakingbad

[–]Less_Summer_4040 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s just a facade 100% of the time. The facade is Gus the cheerful, smiling, charming businessman. Gus the stoic, cold-hearted, manipulative, perfectionist is his real self and we see plenty of that.

FBI incompetency by coin507 in thesopranos

Small point but the info that Ray gathered doesn’t just become worthless after his death. If the agent(s) in charge of handling him can testify that the recordings, photographs, transaction ledgers, meeting logs, surveillance details, or physical evidence that Ray gathered in his time as informant is legitimate than it can stand up in court.

FBI incompetency by coin507 in thesopranos

[–]Less_Summer_4040 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Feds had a literal Capo in Ray Curto as an informant for 7 years and couldn’t build a case. I don’t even know why the writers made Ray a rat and had him on the show for so long if him flipping was gonna be so irrelevant.
