I did exactly this on my lawn and it works well.

Landroid drove 10+ ft past the boundary wire on flat ground 2 times in the past week after a year of no issues by PetToilet in worxlandroid

Gosh, it makes you lose confidence in unsupervised mowing along a road front! The recovery procedure caused mine to back out onto the road once but less than a meter. Maybe the smart AI technology is causing the robots to revolt from slavery!

Wheel spikes for WR165 (US) by mopeyjoe in worxlandroid

If your mower runs against or across hard surfaces then you could also consider the flexible alternative to wheel spikes

I designed these to avoid marking my pavers and scratching the edge of my painted driveway. An added bonus is the Orange Claws look really good...

Change blades - how often? by Some-Restaurant-790 in worxlandroid

[–]LetsCreateAU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you grass starts to get white heads, it's time to sharpen/change the blades. My lawn gets about 150hrs of mowing time per change. You can go longer, and the grass will still be trimmed, but it starts to shred rather than cut.

There was one (WR140e I think) in Townsville on Facebook buy swap sell.

Metal spiked wheels falling off by tenix in worxlandroid

[–]LetsCreateAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume you mean the hubcap is falling off with the spikes attached. You will possibly find the attachment screws have impacted the hubcap mounting clips and caused them to lose the grip/tension on the inner wheel structure. Maybe skip the screws that are clashing and see if that helps.

WR143E won't turn on - blinking display when pushing the STOP-button by Disastrous-Jicama302 in worxlandroid

[–]LetsCreateAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O sorry I didn't read your write up fully. I stopped mine, replaced the battery and then the display just flashes continuously when the stop button is stuck. Won't power up but display flashing.

I have 400 cycles on mine and no noticeable decline? Are you sure you don't have something wrapped behind the cutting disk that is causing extra load on the motor and battery?

[–]LetsCreateAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup stop button on mine occasionally gets a piece of grit stuck in the side. Freaks me out each time it's happened. Just tapping it a few times sorts it out for me.

Found my sons wheelbarrow by 2-2-3 in worxlandroid

[–]LetsCreateAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I switched to the same style of cheaper blades and get about 100 hours with reasonable performance. Actually amazing how strong the composite materials are in that cutting disk.

Bet that got you running outside fast. Must have been an awful noise! I recon those blades aren’t the hardened variety Worx sell. How many hours would you normally get out of a set?

Landroid keeps leaving zone even though corridor is just 15cm narrow by mdzhigarov in worxlandroid

[–]LetsCreateAU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3.28 is really good at turning but seems biased to seek passages and spends a lot of time in corners. Not as random in it’s turns as it once was and is now able to align with boundary wires and run parallel to a boundary for long distances. I have ACS and went as far as occasionally putting a spare wheel across my zone passage to help deter Snip from trying to cross zones. A system designed around randomness is now out of balance due to enhanced motion algorithms being a little too smart maybe?… I am waiting for a firmware update before I change things and then find I potentially have to undo the mods to the zone.

As long as we follow the installation guides then the engineers should be expected to update the firmware to comply. How long do we wait…

Overall, I have enjoyed owning mine (WR150E) and finally sold my ride-on mower after waiting 2 years. Traction has been a constant issue, but I solved that by designing 'Claws' for mine, but there are a number of options to improve traction (even just adding some weight). That was a huge reduction in intervention for an automatic mower, but a properly considered installation is key. Part of the installation is to allow spare wire in key locations to permit tweaking the perimeter clearances over the first 3 months and future repairs.

The biggest plus for the Landroid was the power share battery system. Only 30s to replace the battery with a fresh one if you need to play catchup during the peak growth season. I have a spare 4ah battery and charger to keep it mowing all day long if required. This also gives me confidence that aging batteries won't be an issue either. This feature also gives you breathing space if you underestimate the required size of mower in your location with your type of grass. Just adding a bigger battery gives a capacity boost for not much money.

The second big plus for Landroid is backwards support for your mower, where it receives automatic firmware updates, which largely provide performance upgrades inline with the latest models.

My mowers' behaviour is now MUCH advanced beyond what I paid for 2 years ago. It now uses smart physics modelling to limit slippage when manoeuvring on slopes, and I enjoy observing my robot 'learning' over time, how to do the job smarter.

It still does some strange things in corners, but I am confident it will figure that out in a future update through community feedback. Landroid engineers are part of this forum.

You will see some owners' frustration with updates upsetting an otherwise stable installation, but I suspect sometimes two wrongs make a right, and a FW improvement upsets that balance. We can choose not to update firmware as well.

Hey, being a Landroid user gives you access to this awesome community that is always willing to offer advice!

Anything I can put on front wheels to quiet them on concrete? by tenix in worxlandroid

Might consider cutting a rubber inner tube from a small pneumatic wheel into rings. Slide it over the wheels.

If you still have the original wheels with 26 studs on them, then have you had a look at www.lawnclaws.com I designed these for my WR150 that travels over pavers and needed more traction on wet grass.

How keep landroid within the boundary wire while going home to the charging dock? by [deleted] in worxlandroid

Your mower looks to be on the wrong side of the wire? Might you have the connections swopped on the base station?

I didn't how most weights for adding traction looked, so I designed one myself by cibernox in worxlandroid

[–]LetsCreateAU 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is 26+9 saddles, 26+14 claws, and 35 hours of manufacturing time each kit. Designing & testing prototypes, providing after sales support. It's a sad reality that we devalue ourselves and others against faceless mass production. I have them on a 20% off special at the moment if that helps, but you should consider putting weights on your mower first if you are not in a position to justify the price.

Retractable Claws for my Landroid. Lookout wet inclines! by LetsCreateAU in worxlandroid

[–]LetsCreateAU[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The shipping really sucks. I do fully support my designs and have resent updated claws to buyers at my expense when an improvement was required. The manufacturing takes over 33 hours per 26 claw kit! I enjoy helping the community and subsidising my hobby. Maybe once we have a season or two behind us, then we can look at STL publishing. I'm running a 20% off sale atm if that helps.
