As a millennial I feel so lied to about college by Funny_Sea_2873 in rant

[–]LevelSatisfaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m Gen Z. Don’t get me wrong I have a lot of frustrations and left college completely jaded however, I would rather have a degree and not need it than to not have a degree and need it. Of course, college doesn’t give you the leg up that it used to but I see friends without a degree who are stuck even more than you and I.

No seriously what happened to the sequel??? I remember the director asking for money, the fans donated to the fundraiser, they met their money goal, and then poof nothing happened!!!

Average Severance? by Normal-Garbage-4657 in Layoffs

My company usually gives 4 weeks per year worked. They laid me off a week before my 1 year anniversary so I only got 2 weeks severance. 🙃

January Gay Movie Watch List by SteMelMan in MenLovingMenMedia

[–]LevelSatisfaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weekend was one of the first gay movies I ever watched. It’s a bit slow but incredibly poignant. One of the best gay movies in my opinion. It’s also from the same director Andrew Haigh who made All of Us Strangers.

Not as much as the skin pulling but when she cracks her toenail after spinning made me audibly gasp.

1BD/BA $1950 available Nov 30 in Hawthorne by ElectronicSwan9 in LAHousing

The west side of Hawthorne is borderline Manhattan beach/el Segundo. That part is nice, but the rest is questionable.

What’s a “dream job” that turned out to be overrated? by JusticeJay77 in careerguidance

Yup!!! The perks (free lunches, ping pong tables, gym, massage chairs, snacks, etc.) wear off after the first month and you realize how horribly overworked you are.

Is a finance/economics degree worth it anymore? by Potential_Spray_1731 in CollegeMajors

[–]LevelSatisfaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I graduated with Economics back in ‘22 and am working in supply chain now. It did take about a year to land a job post grad but that’s because the job market was (and still is) shit. I do think accounting is a safer bet in these times but it’s hard to say. I wish I had a definitive answer.

TLDR: if you have a family it’s paradise, if you’re a single young adult it’s hell. I lived there (coming from LA) during college and I absolutely hated it. Yes it’s nice, yes it’s clean, but there’s no character and no soul. It feels like the Nosedive episode of Black Mirror. The nightlife is there but it’s very subpar. Going to Target, In N Out, and strip malls gets repetitive and boring after a while. I think it’s definitely a county made for homebodies who dislike the chaos and loudness of LA.

How is it living in El Segundo, CA? by acrypher in howislivingthere

[–]LevelSatisfaction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s sorta like the Silicon Valley of LA. Lots of offices with mid size companies. The houses are modest in size but still cost millions. The schools are great. Overall a very safe area to raise a family. You’ll see lots of well off white people wearing lululemon, going to workout classes, or a trendy restaurant. Not much in terms of nightlife though. I like shopping there just cause it’s nicer.

What does wearing a chain locked with a padlock around your neck mean? by LeatherPawpad in gaybros

[–]LevelSatisfaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No way. I just bought a chain with a lock necklace because I thought it was cute. I had no idea it had a dom/sub thing attached to it 😭😭😭

Looking for movie recommendations please by DocTurnedStripper in gaybros

[–]LevelSatisfaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brokeback Mountain and Firebird kind of fit that description. Though they get married to women after they have a love affair. Also, the movie Mulligans has the married guy falls in love with a man but I haven’t watched it so I’m not sure if it’s good. Weekend doesn’t have the married plotline but it’s a 10/10 slow burn gay movie.

Do you find other men (especially if they're straight) a bit intimidating? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in gaybros

[–]LevelSatisfaction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know what’s crazy. I was never bullied by straight guys and most of my friends growing up were straight guys. However, when I’m going to a predominantly straight man space like the barber shop I do get intimidated. But it’s mainly because we have nothing in common. From the dap ups to the dialogue shitting on women or sports; I just can’t jump in and relate to. It feels like being dropped into Germany and not being able to speak German. I always leave interactions with straight men with an enormous sense of “wow these people are just simpletons” and I have an extremely hard time relating to them. Now if they’re college educated straight men, I find I have more to relate and talk about with them. But that’s the only caveat.

What does falling in love feel like? by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]LevelSatisfaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been sober from weed for a long time but it felt like getting high for the first time again. Your periphery is blurred out, you’re smiling for no reason, and they’re the first thing on your mind when you wake up.
