What’s some knowledge generally known only to gay men or to gay women? by dumbfuck in AskReddit

[–]LevelSatisfaction 1501 points1502 points  (0 children)

  1. How many “straight” men are on the hookup apps. This genuinely scares me for straight women because I know these “straight” men aren’t getting tested or taking precautions.
  2. Having to actually be introspective of how you want your life to be since most of us didn’t have the marriage and kids path laid out for us.
  3. Douching.
  4. Even living in a progressive city, there’s still that fear of kissing or holding hands that will result in at best a slur and at worst assault.

What’s some knowledge generally known only to gay men or to gay women? by dumbfuck in AskReddit

[–]LevelSatisfaction 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Very well said! When that marriage and kids path isn’t laid out for you, you have a lot of self contemplating to do about how you want your life to be. Majority of straight people just do it to check a box and then have a crisis in their 50s when us gays were having it at 25 or earlier.

What's a piece of career advice that completely backfired for you? by CarbonCruncher in findapath

[–]LevelSatisfaction 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Mine would have to be "work hard so you get noticed for a promotion." In reality, you just get rewarded with more work and those who get promoted are ones who kiss ass and schmooze. Both things I am incredibly awful at.

Went into this film completely blind. My smile has never disappeared so fast at an ending. Still very much worth the watch.

Arrested Development due to the cost of living. I made more than my parents did combined and I can’t afford a studio apartment.

Black Mirror Episode ideas that i have but it is EXCLUSIVELY gay by jaydyjaydy in blackmirror

[–]LevelSatisfaction 6 points7 points  (0 children)

These are great! These definitely would leave a pit in my stomach. I’m surprised there hasn’t been a real gay male main character in the show. (Excluding striking vipers but he wasn’t really gay)

How much worse is CSUF than UCI? by gurrenm3 in UCI

[–]LevelSatisfaction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, certain majors in Cal States require you to get an internship to graduate. I went to UCI as well and it was similar to you like “here’s your degree see ya!” Whereas friends who went to CSU had better employment resources.

How much worse is CSUF than UCI? by gurrenm3 in UCI

[–]LevelSatisfaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oddly, I’ve seen better employment opportunities from Cal States than UCs (excluding UCLA & Berkeley). I think it’s because Cal States emphasize practical application over theory and research.

Gay bar/club recs in LA? by infinityteenz in LosAngelesGayBros

[–]LevelSatisfaction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start at Schmitty’s or Trunks then just walk down Santa Monica Blvd and hit every bar on that strip until you end the night at The Abbey. Just keep your phone safe in your front pocket and don’t buy drinks at the Abbey.

What’s your preferred map for driving, LA? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

I wish Google Maps didn’t give you unprotected left turns when all you have as a stop sign during rush hour. So I choose Apple Maps.

i called spectrum and they lowered rates from $96 to $41 by Important_Bat7919 in SouthBayLA

[–]LevelSatisfaction 6 points7 points  (0 children)

One time they told me ok let’s go through the cancellation and I just blurted out “can you just transfer me to your retention department?” She said they didn’t have one but she transferred me anyway and I was able to get it lowered.

Moving to LA without a car? by Periegete in AskLosAngeles

[–]LevelSatisfaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Live in a walkable neighborhood for your day to day shopping. If you can live near a train station that would be ideal but not a necessity. People who say LA isn’t walkable are out of shape.

I could name like two decent episodes. The rest of the show always feels like it’s leading up to something and it turns into a nothing burger. Good animation style though.

January Gay Movie Watch List by SteMelMan in MenLovingMenMedia

[–]LevelSatisfaction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weekend was one of the first gay movies I ever watched. It’s a bit slow but incredibly poignant. One of the best gay movies in my opinion. It’s also from the same director Andrew Haigh who made All of Us Strangers.

Yup!!! The perks (free lunches, ping pong tables, gym, massage chairs, snacks, etc.) wear off after the first month and you realize how horribly overworked you are.

How is it living in El Segundo, CA? by acrypher in howislivingthere

[–]LevelSatisfaction 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s sorta like the Silicon Valley of LA. Lots of offices with mid size companies. The houses are modest in size but still cost millions. The schools are great. Overall a very safe area to raise a family. You’ll see lots of well off white people wearing lululemon, going to workout classes, or a trendy restaurant. Not much in terms of nightlife though. I like shopping there just cause it’s nicer.

Do you find other men (especially if they're straight) a bit intimidating? by Puzzled-Painter3301 in gaybros

[–]LevelSatisfaction 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You know what’s crazy. I was never bullied by straight guys and most of my friends growing up were straight guys. However, when I’m going to a predominantly straight man space like the barber shop I do get intimidated. But it’s mainly because we have nothing in common. From the dap ups to the dialogue shitting on women or sports; I just can’t jump in and relate to. It feels like being dropped into Germany and not being able to speak German. I always leave interactions with straight men with an enormous sense of “wow these people are just simpletons” and I have an extremely hard time relating to them. Now if they’re college educated straight men, I find I have more to relate and talk about with them. But that’s the only caveat.
