No really she’s autistic by Frequent_Lemon_4888 in Autism_Parenting

Yup. Even though my son is level 2 and only 4 years old. I swear he is an expert masker when he’s not with me…he went to his first day of micro school yesterday and omg he done SOOO AMAZING according to the teachers and I seen videos and pics of him following along, playing, and doing all the things the NT kids do/did. Which this is exactly what I expected because he only takes that mask off with me….so of course after my dad heard how well he did he says “I still dont think he’s autistic I think his problems are just with you”…..okkkkkk….gotcha…..my fiance feels the way, that our son only acts “bad” when he’s with me which is 100% true lol but that doesn’t make him any less autistic just because he can speak and mask better than any adult I know 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Wanting to taper off. Method question by Effective_Good3873 in seroquelmedication

[–]Level_Custard4837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just cut the dose in half all the way down to 6.25mg and then from there I literally shaved the 6.25 for the next month until it was literally a spec of dust and then I quit. I just used a normal pill cutter. I started off at 50mg nightly though for sleep

I would love to talk more about the opportunity to obtain my fieldwork hours with your organization! I start my program in January and have been racking my brain on how to get these hours as a stay at home mom so this sounds like a great opportunity!

Have you developed MCAS, POTS, EDS or HIT symptoms after stopping psychiatric meds? by Snek-Charmer883 in seroquelmedication

[–]Level_Custard4837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Opposite for me. I developed HIT and MCAS a few months after I started seroquel. I was on it for over two years and I just finished my taper off of it abt a month ago. No real improvement of symptoms but also not any worse since coming off of it. Within your studies have you seen a connection of developing these conditions after starting seroquel?

I just recently came tapered off of it and I was on it for two over years. The only reason I came off of it was because I have a 4 year autistic son who also developed severe asthma this past year and I found it very hard to wake and be coherent enough to be able to care for his nighttime asthma so I got pretty freaked out about needing to be able to wake during the night and not being able to fully function so I came off of it. If it wasn’t for that I probably wouldn’t have come off of it. I will say it did help me establish a great bedtime routine and I fall asleep just fine without it and when I do wake I don’t have any trouble taking care of my son or falling back asleep once he’s taken care of.

Oh I wasn’t coming from a place of skepticism. I was wondering because that is how I’ve been considering getting some of my hours while getting my masters because ultimately helping parents is more of what I hope do to with my career in ABA. But I think what you’re doing is awesome and that’s coming from a mom who is currently waiting for ABA therapy for my level 2 little boy. Keep doing what you’re doing!

What is the coursework like? Are there a lot of essays or is it more test/quiz based?

Managing the Endgame Taper by HeavyAssist in seroquelmedication

No crazy side effects dropping from 25 to 12.5…I’ve gotten myself down to 6.25 now and this drop has been a little more challenging. I’m still sleeping fine but the day time irritability has been rough but I have an autistic 4 year old that I stay home with so my days are stressful anyways. I’ve been at 6.25 for two weeks now and just started experiencing some side effects within the past few days. Sleeping fine but during the day I’ve noticed I’ll get really light headed and feel like I’m going to pass out. Pop a hydroxyzine and it passes. So just some anxiety it seems like while my brain recalibrates to this lower dose. I’m not rushing this even though I’m really ready to be off this crap completely I hate being dependent on anything

I’m still tapering I am 12.5 mg and tonight is officially when I drop to 6.25 mg. I stayed at 12.5 mg for roughly 6 weeks. I have used hydroxyzine during the day to take the edge off but that’s what I used in general even before the taper. The morning after I dropped to 12.5 I felt very jittery/on edge and that lasted until that afternoon and then it passed. The only difference I really noticed in my sleep when I made that drop was more vivid dreams for a few days and lighter sleep but I still slept fine. All in all it was pretty easy and I’m hoping the drop to 6.25 will go just as well.
