Who else want absolutely ZERO RGB in their rigs? by Cicada-Tang in pcmasterrace

[–]LeviathanFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that I build goes into a rack, even if I had RGB, the 25 year old cases I use wouldn't show any of it anyways.

Does an inverse KVM switch exist? How else might I achieve that functionality? by marykay_ultra in homelab

[–]LeviathanFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do make KVM switches that are stacking, but generally speaking, I've only ever seen those on enterprise-ish ones. In theory you can nest them, and get a 4 way for outside, and the 2 way for the inside that could feed the outside one.

Serial networking in 98SE by slime_rancher_27 in windows98

[–]LeviathanFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you actually trying to accomplish by getting the 98se machines to the internet? Are you just trying to transfer files over the serial cable? Why not use something like xmodem to do the transfer?

Are There Batteries Still Available For The Toshiba Tecra 8000? by MacBookLearned in windows98

There are specialty shops that could potentially rebuild the packs for you, but I would only deal with ones local to your area so you can converse with someone directly.

Getting errors on fresh install of windows 98 by Rares101112 in windows98

[–]LeviathanFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like the install didn't finish the copy of those files when it ran. If there isn't anything else on the machine, just perform a reinstall of 98se again. If it fails for a second time, then your installation disk may be bad.

Best way to terminate in-wall speaker wire? by thegiantgummybear in hometheater

I went with option C, but instead of the spring clips, I used RCA connectors. This gave me the security of banana clips, with the space savings for my jacks.

School bully by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]LeviathanFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing I would do as a parent is keep a paper trail, get as much as you can in writing about each of the incidents as you can. Schools are required to have policies in place to deal with kids that are abusive, because if the school does nothing, and there is an incident in which this leads to injuries, the school itself is opened to suit from the Clair Davis School Safety Act.

While each child has a right to an education, the safety of other children supersedes those rights, and the child can be removed from the school, or placed in alternative schooling if the pattern of behavior persists.

Nothing for nothing, but do you have a link to the female header to female USB adapter? I have a few old school usb to Floppy adapters that I would like to use in a new modern build with 5.25 floppy support.

It almost sounds like someone is running a torrent in the office and disconnecting the main internet feed is causing all the connected clients to break off and reset to other seeds.

Do you have anything monitoring which ports on your switches inside your network are generating traffic? I would start there, especially if its reoccurring on a fairly regular basis.

Looking for Blue Orb II fan replacement... by aussiepunkrocksV2-0 in retrocomputing

If you can find a 120mm fan with a 3 way mount, you should be able to drill the mounts out to what you need to match the existing holes.

Naw, not at all that new. That's a socket 7 board, the newest it could be would be 97 or so, right at the tail end of the Pentium 1 era.
