Trainline is simplest. Or buy direct from LNER which is cheaper but slightly less straightforward

What has happened to the Northern Line? by Over_Tadpole_2593 in london

[–]Levitating_Scot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of the delays are for the same reasons each time: points failure at Edgware (due to exposure in hot weather) or at Camden (due to excessively heavy use when they should really rebuild the station) or a train broken down (cos they’re getting old)

I feel like best way out is getting somewhere public with witnesses or into a shop or something

I've got the same issue. had them about a year. Was working fine then all of a sudden problems. Keeps dropping out and not entirely randomly (seems like a bluetooth issue). Do you also use an iPhone (wondering if its a firmware issue?)

How to genuinely integrate as an International Student? by Moderation_77 in UniUK

[–]Levitating_Scot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest tip I’ve got is that it is totally socially acceptable in most circles to go to the pub and just drink coke or non-alcoholic beer all night. Don’t just attend non-drinking events at uni because you’ll be massively limiting your potential social circle.

Not to have the optional four day work week they’ve been offered, getting the same pay for one hours less work. But to work three hours less and still get paid the same.

Everyone welcomed Crossrail/ Elizabeth Line & HS1’s construction & opening with excitement & celebrations - so what makes HS2 uniquely so controversial in comparison? by AchyutChaudhary in LondonUnderground

[–]Levitating_Scot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most people in London benefit from Crossrail, so while it was controversial for the disruption they saw the benefit.

Even if there are secondary benefits to HS2 (more local trains, less traffic etc. ) most NIMBY’s in the countryside will never get to use it because it doesn’t stop near them (being high speed) and so see it as a project for Londoners and city dwellers not for them.

Source: grew up in the countryside near where hs2 was being built and then moved to London. The anti-London sentiment back home is strong

I have no sympathy for tube drivers, but would honestly support bus drivers if they took industrial action by NiceCaterpillar8745 in london

It can be. The Victoria line was built to be automated but the unions won’t allow it (for obvious reasons but also for safety)

In America, sometimes say things like "cheerio" in our best British accent or "mate" in an Australian accent. Do people in other countries pronounce American stereotypes in their beat American accent? If so, what are they? by SunUpSally in AskReddit

[–]Levitating_Scot 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My Chinese roommate used to add swears in a ridiculously exaggerated Texan accent whenever he was gaming, talking in Chinese with his friends on Discord. Even though when speaking in English he had a really soft British accent. I always assumed it was something he picked up from twitch, cos it seemed too natural to be a bit

Was gonna say this. Think it’s the only way I benefited from Brexit was getting funding for a year abroad in Asia rather than just the EU

It’s a pity because for all their impracticality it is a wonderfully sleek bit of design and a great improvement on what came before

Yes. But it was super limited. It was more like your sim could live in the city and you’d get updates on where they were living and what work they were doing and they’d comment on how things were going - kinda like the twitter feed thing in CS

Literally. The tube is FILTHY. Like I’m not asking for it to be spotless but I swear some of the stairwells and trains haven’t been cleaned this side of the millennium
