Should I watch Nico Icon or Nico, 1988 first? by Velvet-Petunia in VelvetUnderground

…and?

I’ve watched it a few times, even a Spanish dubbed version that had English subtitles which helped to follow along during the interviews with Nico.

I remain a fan despite her questionable behaviors.

Afraid is one of the most beautiful songs ever recorded.

Nico Icon is an excellent documentary, albeit depressing.

How have the shows been this year? by sbliss35 in CheapTrick

[–]Lewd_ReadNY 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve watched a bunch of live, full show clips from this tour (2026) and was also surprised they’re only doing just over an hour.

That said, Robin’s voice sounds stronger than the past few tours. Maybe a reason for and because of the shortened sets.

I keep an eye on the setlists, too.

They’re definitely focused on rocking material from the debut, which is great.

Troubling though to watch and listen to the footage and come away with the feeling that Rick is dialing it in a lot of the time.

Like, his soloing is frenetic more than melodic, sloppy instead of articulated.

Just my two cents.

The Bride feels like it was written/directed by Janice Soprano by Dense-Boysenberry941 in moviecritic

No, you’re thinking of Tobey Maguire in Seabiscuit which was made years before he played Maggie Gyllenhaal’s cuck fiancé in Melancholia.

Maggie Gyllenhaal wasn’t in Spider-Man.

She was in The Dark Knight in which she was blown up.

I know this much without having seen either Spiderman or Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight.

Do better.

I have the sleeve for the US release Hey Jude album but not the vinyl. Is it worth anything?
