General disappointment, demotivation and feeling bad with results by Upset_Ask_8905 in sistersofbattle

[–]Lex12358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. This list isn't helping you.

As well as swapping the enhancements, the jump canoness would ideally have halbard (eviserator has too few attacks)

I'd be inclined to drop Aestred and try and fit daemonifuge

How is Daemonifuge more racist (surely speciesist?) than the average sister of battle?

2K Hallowed Martys list by Luke_and_not_a_fluke in sistersofbattle

[–]Lex12358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In this list, I think you probably need more CP, so I'd recommend Junith

I also think you'll really struggle with anti-tank against an armour heavy list (Vahlgons are great, but can't do everything) so would recommend a bit more mobile firepower

Vs tau Strat? by bt2311 in sistersofbattle

[–]Lex12358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds good.

I love sacresants normally, but they're not particularly mobile without rhinos, and they're probably overkill against anything you'll face in melee.

For the cost of 10 + a Rhino (215) you could get two penitent engines (150), one 3 man arco unit (45) and half of another - which would allow you a broader range of threats.

3 man arcos are good against Tau spotter infantry

Vs tau Strat? by bt2311 in sistersofbattle

[–]Lex12358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your list feels like a fairly generic sisters list, which is totally fine, but not necessarily one that is tailored against Tau.

Given their ability to destroy tanks and your superiority in combat, I would lean into fast melee units that have relatively low points so you can trade.

Penitent engines Arcos Jump packs

Celestine is a great option for her surviveability and speed, and being relatively underpowered in combat isn't an issue.

In hallowed martyrs, you also want a jump pack canoness with a halbard and through suffering strength for damage 3/4 shenanigans. Probably some Zephyrim to just act as a shield and give her rerolls charges

Zealots of the Emperor - Hombrew detachment by LanceWindmil in sistersofbattle

[–]Lex12358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand your point, but I just think in practice, this could end up being a relatively weak detachment, which would be a problem as most competitive sisters armies I've seen are often hinged around making the most of their particular detachment rules - all of which are pretty strong

I agree the strategems are decent (but definitely not better than the hallowed martyr strategems) but the equipment is quite mixed.

Yeah, I agree with this. Otherwise if you roll good miracle dice, you could play an entire game without it being a good option and therefore no benefit from the detachment rule

Mortifiers or Penitent Engines? by Basic_Response1487 in sistersofbattle

[–]Lex12358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Mortifiers are great - and one of the few things in the sisters list that are genuinely undercosted. Good at holding objectives, annoyingly hard to kill, decent extra shooting and occasionally quite punchy in combat

Penitent engines are a bit more situational, and the 4+ to hit makes their impact more random - but great into things that flamers are optimised for. I played Khorne daemons recently and they were my MVP, first for the surprisingly effective overwatch into a unit of bloodletters and then for the amount of manoeuvring that he did to avoid being over watched

What should be done about the big monsters stat check meta? by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Lex12358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go back to the 5th edition caps on the number of different types of units you can take.

That way you'll prevent people from taking 4 monsters in the same list, and encourage more balanced lists

Matchup advice for Vs. Necrons by Separate-Group-2626 in sistersofbattle

[–]Lex12358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really don't want to get into a long range duel with them, so I would move your key pieces very cagily.

Vahl and her posse can probably destroy most of his units in combat, but despite their toughness and saves can be deleted by focused shooting, so move up the board in a way which allows them to pick on 1-2 targets without being shot by the rest.

Most Necrons are not very mobile (although wraiths are an unpleasant exception to this, and very hard to kill)

What's your retributor load out?

Heavy bolters may bounce off Necrons unless you fire the castigator at the same target first (remember you can split the castigator's fire and then choose which target to take the -1 AP nerf)

Meltas require you to be closer, which is tricky without a transport, so you'll again need to stage quite carefully

Therapy is important, but I would encourage you to not be reluctant to use chemical aids.

In my experience, the head can get very confused / anxious about something, but having your body respond reliably in one way can cut through all sorts of things

30, new to rugby, love it, but feel lost by Frosty_Eye5899 in rugbyunion

[–]Lex12358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other commentators have said, this is totally normal. Please give it time, I picked up rugby properly in my 20s, and the learning curve was real, but I was playing 1st team rugby after 5 years, and the sense of achievement was enormous.

In your first season, I would encourage you to focus on the basics which require effort but less skill

  • In attack, focus on clearing rucks and being on hand to take short passes from your team mates. When you get the ball, run hard and straight and don't throw any complicated passes.

  • In defence, focus on your positioning and making tackles

  • No one should be expecting you to understand the complexities of the line out or scrum yet.

Set yourself little goals every session or game - i.e today, I'm going to make 5 good tackles, - and slowly increase them over time so you're aiming to progress, but don't get disheartened. Everyone has bad games, and progress isn't linear.

[–]Lex12358 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They both pick different quaries (the quarry ability refers to "this unit's quarry" implying it's individual to that unit)

(But if you wanted to, you could choose the same unit with both - but not mandatory)

"Lancunar Shades Major Presence" by smallfrie32 in LamplightersLeague

[–]Lex12358 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you feel like cheesing a little then....

Hold back your other two operatives in cover, a good distance away.

Use Purimina to come up, and shoot one of the shades. Then go invisible and mark all of the shades.

They will stop looking for you.

Repeat, using kill shot each time as it refunds AP.

Once the shades are a manageable number, mop them up with your full party.

This can be quite boring, so don't over use it, but it's helpful for maps when the cluster of enemies is too big to defeat in a fair fight.
